I'm a tech novice with 2 notebook computers, one active desktop and two more fully functional desktop computers in my house. 3 of the 5 computers are used daily online. One of the unused ones will be set up in my home shop soon.
Computers are just appliances these days.
I know several other people with a notebook, a newish desktop and an older desktop in another location in their house.
"Important Information about the new AT&T Inc.

The mechanic tells me to get my oil changed every 2,000 to 3,000 miles, so I listen.
Unfortunately, a good share of advice from computer techs is as ridiculous as your example of oil change advice. Based on nothing more than folk lore and a profit motive.
Present reality for the Air Force is that its Airmen are getting used to run convoys and pull guard duty for the Army in Iraq. The Army doen't have the man power to keep that fiasco going, so in addition to abusivly overusing the Army National Guard, they are now using a lot of AF and some Navy personnel to do the Army's work.
Why should it be more difficult than plugging in one wire from the wall to the television?
Because this is/. and a bit of tech is the only thing the losers living in their mothers basements know, so everyone else in the world should put up with crappy user interfaces from the Dont Give a Shit school of design.
I realize the parent poster was trying to be funny but it doesn't change the fact that (IMO) most Americans think our economy is completely built around serving them and that all Indians are tech support people for Dell
Most American's don't care what drives your economy (I'm not saying that's a good thing, just a fact). What they do care about are jobs going to India and having to try and decipher a thick Indian accent to get some help from tech support.
If I had mod points today I would give you an insightful.
And, as long as the litle critters are being exposed to a non-mainstream operating system, it might as will be Linux. It's more hands on than Apple or Windows and lets the kids know that there is a lot more to computers than neatly packaged Apple or Windows environments. I's a much better "other" operating system for kids to be exposed to than Apple variants. If anything, Apple makes the computer more of a mystery box than even Windows does.
Does anyone really think they won't get their rebates? I suppose sometimes you might have problems (i.e. two different rebates both require original proof of purchase)
I just ran into that on a video card. Two rebates, both required the original UPC.
A copy of the UPC on matte photo paper glued to a piece of the box worked just fine for the second "original".
He didn't talk about "born-again Christians," he talked about "busybodies with nothing better to do than to try to keep me from going to hell." Obviously, you think those two groups are the same, but they're not.
I would agree that one does not necessarily = the other, but there is a high percentage of born agains that fit both categories. A very high percentage.
For campaign reasons, the government has announced a flurry of new spending over the last week, most of which is expected to never materialise, whether the governing party wins again or not.
That is major differance. In the US, the politicians promise they will reduce spending, then spend more than has ever been spent before.
You're right and I do want to make clear that when I talk about Jack Thompson, his brand of Christianity has as much to do with what they practice at the church down the street as McDonald's McFish sandwich does with the ocean...

Jack Thompson's brand of Christianity is far more common in the US than many realize. For everyone who is out in the open about their extreme views like Thompson, there are many, many more sitting there like bobbleheads saying Amen! to brother Thompsons good work.

Unfortunately, any prediction that any two communications companies may merge is a not unreasonable prediction.
It already happened on November 21st of this year.

At least give Bill some credit for honesty...intentional or not.
Napoleon was getting paid the big bucks to think of just those kinds of things.
I got my 1st hand reports from three AF enlisted personnel who regularly pulled convoy duty in Iraq and one more who is there doing it now.
I also have several civilian friends who are in Iraq supporting the military.
Fortunately, I have not been there and never will be.

Because this is
And if frogs had wings their butts wouldn't keep hitting the ground. Neither deficiency is likely to be corrected soon.
That wouldn't occur to some people.

My guess is that the business reason is that it will help his business if you buy his software and/or services.
Oh, you meant a business reason that had something to do with your business....sorry.

Lets leave the present US administration out of this.
There are many reasons, one of which is "because it's there".
That is major differance. In the US, the politicians promise they will reduce spending, then spend more than has ever been spent before.
Now I don't feel so bad about how long it takes me to get around to finishing projects.
Scooter, you should be concentrating on your own defense.
Durn, amd here I thought he had an engine that was it's own fuel.

Bull pucky. It's had a written form for over 150 years.

It would be worth it just to not feel obligated to reset all the damn unnecesary clocks in a half dozen appliances everytime there is a power outage.
