  1. Sad News -- Anti-Slash Jihad is dead on Electronic Arts Shuts Down Origin Systems? · · Score: -1

    I just heard some sad news on talk radio. The anti-slash jihad was found dead in his internet home this morning at the age of 3 months. There weren't any more details. I'm sure everyone in the trolling community will miss it -- even if you didn't enjoy it, there's no denying its contribution to troll culture. Truly a Slashdot icon.

    The pathetic details:

    Way offtopic, so I'm posting with my trolling account.

    The bullet isn't taking 5s to accelerate to 700m/s. Instead, the barrel is 5m long. Read the question more carefully next time.

    We can write the following 2 equations:
    5m = (1/2)(a)(t^2)
    a = (700m/s)/t

    Therefore
    5m = (1/2)[(700m/s)/t](t^2)
    5m = (350m/s)(t)
    t = (5m)/(350m/s)
    t = 1/70th of a second

    a = (700m/s)/(1/70)s = 49,000 m/s^2 (or about 5000 g's)

    (2) Had a beer when you were 20.
    (3) Failed to obey each and every provision of the USA PATRIOT Act.
