I just don't seem to understand why people just can't go watch a movie to watch a movie these days. Why do people have make movies into something that could happen in the real world? I just wish more people could take a movie for face value and leave it at that. Sure... It's about a topic that is obscured in the minds of many people in the World, but just go and enjoy the freeking movie!
I think Pixar will be the new Disney. Not that it will be an outright replacement for them, because you will always have Mickey, DOnald, etc... But with the advent of all of this newer technology to create more in-depth animation films, I don't think Disney can catch up to them. The article also states that Disney is now done creating 2D films and everything else from them will now be 3D. But I think Pixar is just too far ahead for Disney to catch up. Thoughts?
The urban legend of it being illegal is when people actually brought devices in to count the cards for them instead of doing it in their heads. Those devices are illegal, however, if you can do it in your head it is not. However, the casino can still ask you to leave.
"Improving batteries performance is a good thing. Reducing their weight is another one. Do you know that special operations soldiers on battlefields can carry up to 70 pounds of batteries, or half of the weight of the quipment they have to bear? Konarka Technologies wants to reduce this."
Yeah.. but to do any good at that game you had to get on your knees and pound it with your hands. Something tells me that that wont help you lose weight.
Then the argument comes in as to who actually 'owns' the copy. Would it work just like the movie industry does for say DVD? Granted, most shows are already being ported to DVD, but what about those that aren't? Would there be another policy in effect for this or having to build a contract around DRM content?
"In addition, the broadcasters' move has made it necessary for viewers to insert a special user identification card, known as a B-CAS card, into their digital TV sets to watch programs."
I guess this begs the question as to why do you need a card to watch TV when the purpose is to not allow duplication?
Sure.. I guess it could have it's positive uses... Like if you ground your kids from the TV, you just take away their access card and they can't sneak in a program or 2 when returning home from school. It could also lock out programs that children cant watch, depending on the V-chip ratings. But this is in Japan, where they don't have the same censorship the US now has. The article really doesn't get into it...
Ok, so the escape velocity for Earth is 25,000 mi/h and this thing doesn't even come near those speeds, how does this thing ever get into LEO?
For those interested in the formula..
E = -GMm/r + mvv/2
where:
E = total energy
G = Newton's gravitational constant (6.67 x 10E-11 Nmm/(kg kg)
M = is the mass of the earth (6 x 10E+24 kg)
m = is the mass of the satellite
r = is the radius of the Earth (6.5x10E+6 m)
v = is the speed of the satellite. The
first term is the gravitational potential energy and the second is the kinetic energy of the satellite.
What's even more amazing is they have only been around since 2002. Going from start-up company to your 3rd test flight in that amount of time is.. well.. impressive.
when they aren't in deserts or barren hills. The military does just as many operations under the fall of darkness and places where the sun doesn't go (pun intended).
Anyone remember that old joke that was floating around the Internet, what would happen if the car industry followed the growth of computers? I think that fear has just been realized. Thanks Toyota!
Thanks for the info... Will be seeing Shrek 2 very soon:)

Have you ever tried animating water in a realistic fashion? Did you see the way they had the light reflact through the waves in shallow water? Did you see them animate in little dust particles floating by in the water? That's an amazing detail aspect and it looked VERY real... but it's just water huh?
It was only a matter of time...
... yup, that's my boy!
Yes.. could we not bring up the TV show again? I still can't get the droning sound of their own "barber shop quartet" out of my head.

I can't believe that... *sigh*
Perhaps this can be tied into yesterday's Slashdot story with athe Army?
Why build a new format when there is one already available that would suit their needs?
.. it's called the mail.
I emailed them as well and let them know.. Oh well.
If I didn't already read about this yesterday!
No it wasn't... It was here in Omaha, NE at a hanger at Offutt Air Force base. Get your facts straight.
