You don't realize how judgmental your attitude comments come across, Ironically your motivation for speaking are that you probably wrongly judged.
The thing is that different people are different. That's one of the oldest things in the book. He isn't wrong, in fact he's quite right. Living together means making concessions, that's inevitable, there's probably a ton of things in your wife that upsets you but you have chosen to tolerate. But different people tolerate different things for different stretches of time.
The 50% divorce rate has coincided with the doubling of the human lifespan. It's quite possible that tripling our lifespan will raise divorce rates to 33%. I'd dare to say that all relationships are temporal and mostly limited to our life times.
That's not to say you don't exist, that you are wrong in being happy with your spouse, but I have got to get on his side since he talks about choice and choice is at the core of the matter.
I remember when I first saw a Blueray Disc movie, it was that godawful G.I. Joe movie, I dunno what the frame rate was on that but the image looked absurdly crisp and sharp. It was the clearest cleanest image I had seen on a movie, and it looked disgustingly fake.
For a moment I thought it was because the lack of camera artifacts made it look unauthentic, kinda like how lens flare is now added to movies because people expect it. However after a while I realized that I only had problems when there was CGI on the screen. So in fact it wasn't the sharp image what was bothering me, is the that, the sharper the image, the more obvious CGI imperfections are.
Image quality reveals fake scenes for what they are.
For a movie with a shitload of fake imagery like the Hobbit, I can already see why people would complain. I'm pretty sure those 60fps instructional videos you shot didn't have any CGI in them did they?
I was about to post the same. This is a very reasonable position. The Feds want to fully control "the cloud" before moving their resources to "the cloud".
In other words they are just like me! So obviously they would respect my attempts to control my own hardware right? Yeah right...
Scientology is a "church" because they use copyrights to control and restrict the distribution of their text for which they charge a small fortune. And because they are secretive about their practices and what they do to their members. While I agree that all religions are fictional and silly and many of them very unhealthy, they at least are very open about their practices and do not try to hide. The fact that Scientology operates in the shadows suggest to many that it, and it's leaders, are far less like regular churches and much more like con jobs.
The thing that Diaspora needs more than anything if for home servers to become a reality. If devices like this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GuruPlug) or similar become as widespread as the common desktop computer we would be able to realize the full potential of the Internet. True distribution of power, freedom of speech, etc.
The problem with arguing for genetics it that it makes the pressumption that since women aren't genetically inclied for IT jobs, then women who DO get into IT are genetic abherrations, not true women or vastly inferior to men in the field since they are doing something for which they aren't genetically fit to.
All these we know to be false, because there ARE women in IT, they aren't any less of a woman than women in other fields and they aren't inferior at work. On top of that is the problem that there may be social preasures at involved too, that is, regardless of wether there are or aren't genetic factors involved. And if there are social factors involved (and there always are at least some social factors involved) it's not easy to determine who's responsability is it and who most change attitudes in order to eliminate discrimination.
But yes, I get what you mean, before we can start implementing polices to accomodate for women in IT we most first understand everything related to the case so that we don't end up overinvesting in a lost cause.
Windows 7 and any Windows can be a problem if you insist on making it do exactly what you want and in that respect fiddly with Windows implies much friction. That OS fights back modifications. Because I end up heavyly configuring all my systems I rarely bother with Windows 7. I admit my perceptions are skewed, but my experience with "basic" users is that they will always struggle with computers and will always request my help, hence my low understimating of any Windows "magic ease".
Because corporations and rich people won't do shit about it. The people who cares about problems, the people who has problems, can't do shit about it, not individually, so collective efforts are their only means of improvement. Thus more laws and the taxes to pay for them.
The capital, Mexico City, is by far the most secure and well equipped city and I'll assure you won't get bored, there. Only problem are smog and the occasional earthquake. Guadalajara is a cleaner alternative with fresh air and more relaxed but still has got everything you'd want. Leon is good but can't really say much about it. Housing in the beach cities is going to cost an arm and a leg and they aren't quite IT oriented, but there's plenty of americans there if you miss your people, they are quite secure too. Stay away from Juarez. And to a lesser extend, from Monterrey, sadly Monterrey was the best city for balance between affordable space and equipment and there's plenty of IT jobs here but there's the cartels problem. Actually the cartels themselves are unlikely to pay you attention, but the police is getting overwhelmed leaving many areas unsecured.
"people will retain a sense of individuality and personality" only for as long it takes a cybor-multibillionare how to take over the world. The Singularity WILL BE EVIL if only because the people that will eventually pay to develop it are inherently evil.
Actually it's easier to escape from your country than to escape Google's tracking. You might stop using all Google services and still being tracked. Compared to Google the government is easy to escape. Just drive down to Mexico, I'll recommend it, it's not the hellhole you see in Fox News. I live here and I have broadband and A/C and what not.
The problem with this attitude is that corporations and government work together, how naive must you be to think otherwise. Google will give the FBI everything they are not themselves allowed to get from you. Conversely, the FBI will disappear anyone Google finds "uncofortable" if necessary. Corruption works both ways. It's incredibly stupid to think that you only have to worry about about abuse of power from the government and not corporations.
The last update to Ubuntu brought advertising into my desktop. I tried to search for an application and the unity dashboard presented me with music albums from the music store.
Fucking hell.
I understand if they pack rhythmbox chokefull of advertising for their music store. I would hate it but I'd at least understand it. But when the simple task of starting an application, the most basic task of graphical shells, is used as an opportunity to advertise to me, I've had enough.
That's jumping the shark twice.
I already ditched Ubuntu for LinuxMint in my desktop but used Ubuntu in my media center. I'm changing OS next time.
Why is the NSA watching me? I've done nothing wrong! If you are doing nothing wrong you have nothign to hide! Can I see what information you arecollecting then? We don't need to respond to FOIA requests.
No one is saying that Vesta *is* a planet *right now* rather, that Vesta is a planetary core capable of acting like a seed and become a planet by clearing its orbit, if only Jupiter wasn't there. So, no, Vesta is no planet, but it's no mere asteroid, that's why they called it a "baby planet"
Pluto wasn't "demoted" from planet to asteroid. It was moved into is category of plutoids because it is not the "only pluto" in our solar system, nor the only pluto in Pluto's orbit.
I'm sorry but the protest you are driving towards to has been declared a terrorist organization. I am to drive you to the nearest police station while playing the Law & Order theme. Different music backgrounds are available as DLC if you'd like to unluck...
More to the point. TPB's goal is freedom of speech and access to information. They are not about to punish someone for what the say by trashing their website.
Given you are essentially disarming the population and preparing for an attack of some sort noting short of Martial law should give the government such powers.
The media owners have every right to choose their business model.
Not quite, The copyrights owners have been given every right to choose their business model.
Been given, by Congress on behalf of the people under the pressumption that it would encourage the advancement of the arts and science. As such it is perfectly legitimarte for the people to redefine what their business models can be.
The only concession I'd grant you is that currently the people at large are acting independently of Congress, but of course the fact that the Government isn't listening to the people is the real crime here.
Oh yeah? Well in Ruby, methods aren't objects either! Python methods are real objects and you can get them directly, pass them around or return them. Ruby methods can only be passed around by using another wrapping method, so you can get a wrapper for the method you want an them call another method in the wrapper to acces the method you want to access.
Which of course doesn't matter because Ruby solves with blocks what Python does with functions, my point however is that "Object Purism" is a stupid dogma. Java is an OO language.
