  2. Internet service has become a Right. on How Cable Monopolies Hurt ISP Customers (backchannel.com) · · Score: 1

I said it before and I'll say it again: Internet service has become a Right.
Consider that it is the primary source for communication these days, it is remiss for our government to not ensure fair and easy access to internet access.
It is already proven, time and time again, that corporations can NOT be trusted to provide in the public interest.

Yet, this is NOT newsworthy crap. Let the man grieve in private!

  10. I recently saw a PBS Nova program that had a segment on Mr Zimmerman's invention. He is a plastics engineer by trade.
And the battery packs he made were amazing. Some were quite thin.
It was demonstrated how effective, and safe, they are; being cut into pieces (and still working!), stabbed, crushed, chopped, etc.

Looks to me to be a real solution. I am taking stock out on Mr Zimmerman!

    How can this make sense?

Many long-time Mac users have been somewhat disappointed with Apple's most recent releases, which come with big changes that not everyone is willing to embrace.

Sure seems like MS makes regular, big changes. What a rude suprise for those 'migrating' Apple enthusiasts!

  18. What about these 2 possibilities:

  20. We humans are generally too not ready... on First Human-Pig 'Chimera' Created in Milestone Study (theguardian.com) · · Score: 1

We humans are generally too not ready for this hi-tech stuff.

Consider this example: Africanized bees. Theye were inadvertently released into the wild and now have taken lives here in the USA.
Those bees continue to migrate further north and pose a threat to an ever increasing population.

Add to this one example the fact that an obvious unqualified Trump made it to being a presidential candidate (let alone actually now in office), and it is quite evident that we humans are akin to an ape with a machine gun!

I say we first educate the masses. Then we can let the few intelligent educated persons manage such amazing research.

First, we need to have more humans actually recognize what makes a qualified leader; rather than THINK they know and we all end up suffering from the mistake once it all blows-up in (their) faces.

  21. Modern government roles needs to be redefined... on Should College Tuition Vary By Major, Based On the College's Costs For the Major? (qz.com) · · Score: 1

Modern government roles needs to be redefined.

In today's society, most needs differ than those in 1776.
Sure, we still need freedom of speech, yet as it was intended. Back in 1776, blatant lies were relatively rare. Today, lying is the norm - especially for politicians.

So, in line with this thought, it seems our government "by the people" needs to be "FOR the people" - people of contemporary times.
    Provide protection and freedom.
Today, we need protection and freedom - from terrorism - like from shootings and bombs and biochemical threats.
And that means health care for those victims.
And that also means education to provide abilities to handle threats and health care.

Beyond that small scenario, it still makes sense to have peoples as smart as possible, as health as possible.
Seems like a right to me. A right that I can choose to take or not.

  22. You have GOT to be kidding!!!

If this isn't a move towards Orwell's 1984 society, then how would you define it?

Fellow Americans: The time is NOW to stand up for the right's intended by our founding Fathers, and DEMAND FULL transparency on ALL issues affecting us as the FREE citizens of this country!
It is time to bring the Constitution into this modern age.
It is time to OUTLAW ANY fake news or deceptive speech. Freedom of speech does NOT mean Freedom to Deceive and Lie - especially for political reasons.
Whistle-blowing needs to be classified as FREE SPEECH, and NOT encumbered by bullshit laws to suppress truths that citizens must have to make informed decisions at the polls!
