It's not the cost to mfgr the drug, it is the research and approval expenses that are expensive.
The more rare the disease, the fewer sales, the higher the cost needs to be to justify research in the first place.
That is, in many cases.
However, drug companies tend to abuse this model to reap unreasonable profits in many areas.
For example, the drug known as Harvoni, used to treat Hep C, a relatively non-rare affliction, costs ~$90,000 for a 8 week regimen!
That's 56 pills @ ~$1607/pill! That works out to over $586K/yr (yet two 12 week courses is considered worst case needs).
And there are lots of people with Hep C!
And then there is the Epi-Pen debacle!
Point is that drug companies definitely need to be reigned-in. Period.
It seems to me that there is a bit of confusion regarding the issue of ISPs and privacy.
According to a US Rep, Costello, (R) PA, it is the FTC, and NOT the FCC, that is to regulate privacy concerns here.
Here's a link to his explanation: https://iqconnect.lmhostediq.c...
Seems to me that we, the People, have allowed too much confusion and B/S from our political parties, such that it allows them to get away with too much.
I say we start purging the system of band-aid laws and get serious about being FOR the People!
If this source is soooo far away, wouldn't we see redshift of some sort?
If we are getting XRay frequencies, might this burst have started at a higher bandwidth - like Gamma?
This is a Sanders-type policy feature.
Educate more Americans for more contemporary jobs (via government spending on higher education).
Then we can hire foreign wanna-bees to work alongside the droves of Mexican laborers and Indian entry level programmers; keeping the higher quality jobs where they belong.
Until, that is, we build the robots for those low level jobs!
Sounds like you feel entitled to something.
Why not just install Linux and be free of the majority of commercial endeavors like Google and Microsoft?
If you REALLY want to avoid 'evils' of commercial companies that rely on income from their (streams), the get off your duff - spend a little energy and install a Linux distro, and be free from commercial products.
Perhaps we can CrowdFund to get one of these for the protesters!
I reserve my right to protest - peacefully, of course - until we are oppressed!
If I am raising very legitimate concerns in a peaceful protest, and you come at me with one of these things, I am gonna go get mine!
There's 'good' cops and 'bad' cops, of course. As we all know, 'bad' cops make life for us, AND the 'good' cops, tough!
Problem is when 'bad' cops get one of these and start the escalation.
Better idea: Spend the monies on ensuring all cops come to work in a good, happy mood. Perhaps ensure that each has at least 2 fully satisfying orgasms every day, one must be within 3 hours of the next shift.
Government (officials), i.e. law enforcement, NEEDS to be held COMPLETELY accountable for their actions.
It is UNFORGIVABLE to do this to anyone!
And, a simple 'slap on the wrist' is WAY NOT enough!
Way too many innocents are being hurt by careless IDIOTS in the Law Enforcement industry!
Sure, it was not really "new" news, yet it is, nonetheless, supremely alarming!
One major contributor to the public's lack of enthused reaction is the absolute lack of real responsibility on the part of the media - especially mainstream media.
Media has become a tool of those with the power. Electronic media, in particular, is a powerful tool that does brainwash and brow-beat the public into submission, while leaving a feeling that just hearing it is enough!
The other issue is that most people are truly idiots. Period. Thanks, in LARGE part to ever more powerful corporations!
I am all for catching and stopping child porn.
However, I am also all for catching and stopping illegal invasions of constitutional rights! GET A WARRANT FIRST!!!
Why must we find "white" lie-like crap to pretend it makes lives better?!
How about we all strive to stop fooling ourselves?!
If it is too dark (thus the need for more energy) when your alarm goes off, go back to bed. Get up when it is light; then put in your 8 hours - or whatever works as most productive for you.
And, while we are at it, PAY ATTENTION TO WHO YOU ARE VOTING FOR!!!
It is the fucking laziness that people have, brought on by general corporate subliminal brainwashing propaganda!
Open source projects like Linux and LibreOffice do not have heavy-handed, highly engineered social marketing to brainwash folks into their products.
They just have great, solid, supported products built truly By The People, For The People.
Yet, most humans are TOO fucking lazy to engage their brains of their OWN fruition and make the small effort to learn these easy products, andwould rather just keep plodding along with the rest of the (lemmings)!
Crap like this instills contempt for fellow citizens: How in the hell could anyone believe that Trump deserves this credit?!?!?!
It is obvious that the majority of citizens are not qualified (or just do not research candidates and their policies enough) to be choosing what should be a leader for ALL peoples.
It is long overdue that Intel got some real competition.
Their CPUs are way overpriced. Note their 2016 company profits hit $7.5B on $17.5B revenue! REALLY?!
AMD has priced Ryzen, their answer to the i7, at less than half the price with higher performance.
This surely shows that Intel is likely gouging the market; which is unethical monopolistic antitrust behavior.
Don't you think it is time that governments actually SERVE THE PUBLIC?!
Then why the fuck are you voting these assholes into office?!
And, if an election was stolen, then why aren't you participating in the revolt about it?!

Should we not FIRST ensure we have police departments that are fully staffed with MATURE, level-headed, impartial persons?!
Can I keep the drone, too, along with my order?!
;-)
Can I shoot down a drone that is passing over my house (and keep the payload) as a toll for using my airspace?
Can I keep the pkg that was incorrectly delivered to my house?
(What also works is to replace the "Can I" above with "I will".)

Oh. Did they for get to mention that the CEO is a Trump?!
Must be - to go spreading BS like that!
Or, perhaps this is the new trend based on the new administration M/O.
No one ever asked my age when I went to the movies. And I went more in 2016 than in the prior 3 years!
You have to understand, ezelkow1, that it is apparently fashionable these days to live in the 'Alternate Facts' world! ;-)

It is really another tool developed by Intel for the CIA to make hacking even easier!
All this hype is to just get you to install it!
GOTCHA - AGAIN!!!
Perhaps -- if it were a house for a robot!
Agreed! This is bullshit!

No info is ever lost there. It lasts (almost) forever right at the event horizon.
Retrieving it is a bit challenging, though.
