I was once denied a job at Radio Shack because I had been trained as an electronics technician. It was explained I knew too much about electronics and they didn't want me talking electronics with customers. The manager said they were trying to move the company away from that.
Submarines rendered skimmers obsolete many years ago. I've been so close to carriers (undetected) that it once took five shots with a periscope-mounted camera to get a picture of the whole thing. That's five sets of crosshairs folks, and they never knew we were there.
I have a kindle and a kindle fire. Christmas was good to me. I prefer the kindle for reading and the kindle fire for everything else. It hurts my eyes to read on the kindle fire.
Women should not be in combat. It's hard enough to find men who can handle it, not to mention so many other numerous problems. This PC garbage gets people killed and it will lose us our next big war.
We're going to lose our next big war because of this. The United States has won pretty much all of its wars due to the combination manufacturing ability on the homefront and the individual craftiness of its military personnel in the field.
We're quickly becoming a nation of fat, stupid gamers who do not know how to make anything.
Digg had a bad habit of deleting the accounts of people who disagreed (politely even) with leftist politics in general and the homosexual lifestyle in particular by labeling all such disagreement "hate speech". They censored themselves out of relevance. I deleted my own account with them several years ago due to my disgust with this behavior.
It's best to play interviews by ear and to answer questions based on your gut feeling of whether it's an appropriate question. Laws be damned. If it's too inappropriate I don't want to work there. Let them ask "illegal" questions and let me ask them too.
It's in my best interest that a potential employer has a good feel for who I am and what makes me tick and vice-versa. I need to not only perform my job duties but to personally get along with and befriend the people I'll be spending a large portion of time with. For instance, I'd want to know if my potential boss is a militant feminist/Obama fundraiser, or a passionate rock climber. In the former case, I'd gladly go look elsewhere. In the latter, there's some commonality which will allow us to relate to one another better.
Also, I welcome questions about my military service. If a potential employer has a problem with it, I'm going to have a problem with them and we would both be miserable.
I'm flying next week and intend to go for the pat-down.
When they start groping me, I'm going to moan like I'm REALLY enjoying it. When whoever is doing the groping is done, I'm going to ask the person if I can see them again and tell them how cute they are.
From the article:
"She rang the maternity suite at Worcestershire Royal Hospital in Worcester but was told it was nothing to worry about and to go back to sleep... ...Miss Rowberry said: ''It was frightening. I rang the maternity suite and they just told me to go to sleep."
I abandoned Digg a couple of years ago.
Bury brigades have been killing right-leaning stories while promoting left-leaning stories for years now. They have been doing so with the blessing of the site owners. The owners of Digg routinely ban accounts for posting comments that go against left-leaning stories so I don't feel the least bit sorry for them.
How hypocritical to complain that right-leaning bury brigades are now causing a problem. Sadly enough it's the only way to force some kind of political balance.
...and sometimes highly editing then releasing a stolen video (aka lying) is the only way to get support for a leftist political cause.
Notice how the video slowed to show camera tripods but quickly skipped on past the guy carrying an RPG and another toting an AK? Notice how there's no description of the firefight that took place before the video or an explanation that the guys carrying the weapons had just been in it?
As for the Reuters reporters...when you lie down with dogs you get up with fleas.
This is a manufactured story, and the people who did it did so to undermine the United States. They are just as much our enemies as the guys shooting at us, only less trustworthy.
Yet they still claim to own Linux

I like how they made it look like Linux (Gnome, KDE). Does anyone know if they ever got around to copying virtual desktops?
The more my Linux and Windows boxes look & act the same the better.
I disagree.
It's my own experience that simulations drive people crazy.
I served aboard a submarine.
Sometimes before we left on a deployment we would go through a drill called a "fast cruise'. We'd be tied up at the dock, surfaced, but the whole crew would be down below with the hatches shut pretending we were at sea and submerged. It was absolutely maddening because we knew that air, beer, and babes were separated from us by 2 to 3 inches of steel and that everything we were suffering through was just made-up. With no real danger and no real mission to concentrate on, we were left to wallow in our misery.
When we were actually on deployment we were submerged for months at a time, which was no picnic, but it was much more bearable than spending 24 hours at the pier. Part of it was knowing that death lay on the other side of those 2 to 3 inches of steel and that we were in the most comfortable spot out in the middle of nowhere. There was stress, but that stress was due to real conditions, which is much more tolerable than stress that's contrived. With real stress you barely notice conditions like the AC being off while you're sitting next to a reactor.
When the same thing was being done as a drill, we just sat there sweaty and pissed off.
Sorry, wireless is nice for wireless devices, but it won't be replacing ethernet on workstations anytime soon.
Ever try running Solidworks on a laptop with its minimal GPU and small screen? Many of them just choke and die.
Ever try loading a large assembly over a wireless connection? I'll take 1Gbps ethernet over 54 Mbps wireless any day.
So yeah, ethernet not only always works, but you can transmit data over it faster. It might get replaced by wireless at Starbucks or those trendy businesses with fake hardwood floors and a manager name "Tristan", but not at any real business transferring real data any time soon.
Wireless use will increase and is growing, but it is being used to fill a hole that ethernet can't conveniently fill; connecting laptops and other wireless devices. It's perfectly adequate for twittering and viewing porn, but it just doesn't have the reliability and speed of ethernet.
There are many of us who need full blown bolted-to-the-floor workstations to get our work done and ethernet is the best choice for us. My wirelessly connected laptop is on my other desk getting a battery charge. The computer I'm using to waste time on Slashdot weighs 10 pounds and is connected via ethernet.
...and just to piss everyone off, I still have a 3.5" floppy drive. I'd better get back to my CAD work now or I won't get paid.
It's no mystery.
There's a bumper crop of acorns on my property this year and last year there were almost none.
Why? Last year we had a late freeze followed by a drought.
The volume of mast crop always varies, but during bad years there's very little production. The people screaming and hollering about it need to go outside more.
So this educated fool has a "theory" about wet and dry cycles, does he? Any rube farmer or hunter out there can tell you that the mast crop is directly related to wet and dry cycles. Any botanist who doesn't know that already shouldn't be able to call himself one.
I guess it's much less fun to understand the workings of nature than it is to lay the blame on a favorite political cause.

They should install headlights on their cars instead.
Billy is welcome to come to my house and repaint and/or wash it every six months too.

Sexual harassment goes both ways.
Does this mean I have to get rid of my Linux installations now?

I'll give them $12 for their SCOSource business. Maybe I can write it off on my taxes and make a profit.

Yay!
Found a working mirror!
10:50 am.
Not (really) released just yet; none of the mirrors are working.
10:40 am Eastern
Then they'll be able stone women to death with moon rocks.
