Ditch IE for Firefox. I just did 2 clients' computers today (running slow, yadayada) and guess what? One had 18 spyware trojans installed, the other had 64 (as well as a couple of viruses). Firefox (any Gecko-based browser) is not vulnerable to the crap that IE is. I always tell my clients to not use IE anymore. When they listen, they always have a better overall experience.
... wrote a complete character sheet in VB6 (ick, I know) that was fully v3.5 compliant... All I heard about once he was knee-deep into it was how bad it sucked and how complicated it was... But it turned out pretty cool. Dice rollers and everything. Now to get him to port it to gtk or qt...
... the top five are all variations of Worm_NETSKY.... Virus creators are sharing more code.
It also indicates a couple of other things:
Outlook/Outlook Express need to die (or at the very least patched properly)
Internet Explorer suffers the above affliction (and by implication, so does Windows as a whole)
People never patch their boxes, even when patches are released
Since I am the "nerd" of the family, I get to make regular house calls to cleanse this shit from people's computers. I gotta say, the article is absolutely right. The number of worms, viruses, etc is insane this year.
It's only a matter of time until one of these is truly destructive... Perhaps a fortunate side-effect would be the world waking up to why Microsoft software is so horrible.
Of course it would make sense! But then I wouldn't be compliant, and I wouldn't be able to use my sig anymore. That would be the greatest tragedy, time-strings-wrapping be damned!!!
WHOA! That has to be one of the coolest vehicles I have ever seen!

One reason why not to do it is for copyright issues. More often than not there is a condition in the Terms of Use (usually after the "we own your firstborn" clause) that says you cannot save their stuff to your computer (I know, cached content, temporary internet files, etc etc but bear with me here). Such a move would almost instantly get some shitass lawyer with nothing better to do all in a hissy-fit and the lawsuits would fly.
Also, consider this:
slashdot has a story about sco and mirrors sco.com/whateverpage.html
Boies seees it
osdn, slashdot, etc. become targets for stupid lawsuits
all that is good in the universe ceases to exist, yada yada yada
HA! Sorry guys, I just copied the page with original Japanese text. I'm as lost as you all are, but shit, the pictures are cool enough to make up for it!
is finally starting to get it. I see more and more articles that are critical of SCO (therefore tell the truth, less SCO's FUD). It only goes to show that once you peel away the layers of bullshit, there can only be one outcome.
The statement about the IBM v. Microsoft "war by proxy" I beleive is accurate. It has been a long time coming. Unfortunately, I don't think it will go as far as it should (IBM buying/crushing Microsoft). One can still hope, though;-)
It's a tad on the pricey side, but I'm gonna buy one just to show up some dude at my company who got a tablet with XP Tablet Edition and thinks it's the cat's meow...
Although he sometimes salivates over my Mandrake desktop....
I wonder if it would be any cheaper if they went with GTK instead of Qtopia? Ah, wtf, it should be cool anyway! Count me in!
MS probably won't do anything. If they were to do anything, they would have done it when Wal-Mart started selling computers with Lindows on them (reference the MS v. Lindows lawsuit).
I have bought a few of the Lindows computers, just cuz they are cheap hardware. I don't care for lindows, I throw Mandrake on em and they run great.
I have used things like this in the past from companies like RedHat abd Mandrake to convince people that Linux is not "only for nerds" and "too hard". Now that IBM has this, it is perceived as having come from a third party, as IBM still is not thought of as a "Linux Company". This will likely help in my fight to get Linux on my corporate desktops. Go IBM!

When I was in college I worked in a fastfood joint. Printed on the sides of the coffee cups was:
"Caution: Hot Coffee Is Hot."
Need I saw more?

- Microsoft Windows as the number one platform for "e-business foundations,"
- Microsoft Visual Studio as number one for "Application & Web Services Development,"
- Microsoft Office OneNote 2003 as number one for "Personal Productivity."
Need I say more? How long before we read the first story of some, um, inappropriate footage captured with one of these?
No, the real question is, "How long until I don't get to carry around my keychain flash drive because someone thinks it's a camera?"
As was demonstrated in a previous post you CANNOT say "I for one" without mentioning the infamous Kent Brockman newscast!
To quote the aforementioned post:
Here, I'll give you some examples:
- I, for one, welcome our new knocking alien overlords.
- I, for one, welcome our new colliding space debris overlords.
- I, for one, welcome our repetitive slashdot joke overlords.
There, now hopefully you will not make the same mistake. I have seen the light, I hope you have too.Dude, no need for the "quotes" when you actually are a nerd.
yea, true. it's late. my bad.

guess I better change my information to something other than j03 c00l l33t
grrrrrrrr I used up all my mod points... rest assured you would me modded down if I could.
Aside from all the funny comments (and btw I was bustin a gut over here) ya gotta think that would be some scary shit!
Those guys up there have families and what-not that gotta be pretty on-edge right now. I for one hope they pull through.
Clearly, it's Indians (native americans).
I think they might want the real-estate for a new casino...

documentation = sex:
even when you think you have enough, it is not nearly sufficient
LOL! Yea I saw that. Maybe I should have phrased it differently:
