    Because Inrix is effectively controlled by Microsoft, both by technology and personell, this process of "sharing" technologies is completely fictional and serves only one purpose: to virtually syntetize some "existing" profitable bussiness model based on strict IP control. They just want to pretend a market with IP as commodity.

    It is intended to mystify lawmakers in the near future with some artificial case study and counter the common sense understanding the IP privilegia are harmfull to tech advance.

    Remember how patents on steam engine effectively delayed industrial revolution by 50 years. Two generations.

    This is not funny, this is a military grade documentation. Some gadgets may require very special procedure to be powered up again after shutdown (ASPU), very distinctive from procedure of initial power up (IPU). However, these instructions are missing correct identification of the power button, should include reference to hardware assembly schematic sheet.

    That's exactly what we have been taught about your capitalist politicians decades ago in our communist basic schools. And with the clearly visible corruption in our communist regime, we considered it to be just a propaganda. Today I understand all the "virtues" of so called democracy much better.

    Under communism, we had no political choice. But I can never understand, why people living in democracies are selecting total morons as their leaders and lawmakers. At least, you can still leave your country if you wish to, something we who were behind iron curtain could not do without a grave danger.

    Yes, there is. Both law enforcement and spook surveillance beaurocracies are rather slow with internal processing and more dynamic DNS changes would undermine most of their investigations.

    By my opinion the idea of wasting a precious, fast and costly memory for just a ramdisk of that hideous size is a product of pure lunacy and clearly indicates there is something extremely wrong with your software. For the price of the memory itself, you can certainly design and built a more adequate hardware infrastructure for your task if you use some brain first. But wait, you are not a Longhorn core developer, aren't you?

    I can't imagine hardware vendors would accept that kind of technology abuse. In almost all European countries there is legally enforcable 2 years warranty for hardware products. Even if non-Europe manufacturer provides less time for warranty, retailer shop must comply with full time period.

    So, that would be a legal massacre of retailers/vendors/manufacturers by consumers/consumers organisations.

    Disassembly the drive with proper tool. Use the acetylene cutter on magnetic plates to burn surface. I have witnessed this procedure on damaged (heads drop) mainframe disks with secret data several decades ago. You even need no electricity, for which may come handy if your shop is currently... under siege.

    A functional Haskell language is the tool of the day. However, there is nothing in Haskell that could not be done in Prolog with proper problem domain language defined by grammar. H. is just fancy looking, out of the box. Unlike Lisp.

    Do people actually believe anything they're saying?

    Propaganda is always directed at specific target audience. In the purpose of such institutions as ADTI, there is no reason for common people should believe them. But the politicians, both administratives and lawmakers do, and that does count well.

    The core of the problem is googlebot itself. Since it is distinguished from ordinary user by it's own identification and behavioral patterns, it disqualifies itself from Turing test in comparision with ordinary user. So it is easy to be spoofed at.

    There may be usefull another layer for googlebot, which checks for authenticity of links/redirections by mimicking human behavior, disguised as some widely used browser. There is no need to check everything, that would create a detectable pattern again, but just a heuristicaly selected subset of the web site.

    I believe nothing is lost for you, because in theory, .ipk and .deb are identical inside, while .deb uses ar and .ipk tar for archive compression. You can make an ipk out of some old arm deb with scripts (dig for them somewhere at handhelds.org CVS):

    ...people usually do ignore about personally registered licenses for proprietary closed source burning software: Nero puts it's own serial number encoded on every shiny disc it burns. Maybe, in near future, that could be a big problem for some of you fans of Nero. Depending on what you actually burn, luxury in clicking may cost hard, then.
