I assure you, somebody WILL read it. Once I set up a livejournal that I never told ANYONE about, but made the mistake of using the same screenname as for instant messenger. Compounding this folly was the post in which I confessed to a middle school crush on a girl I hadn't seen since graduating high school. Well, guess who calls me up a few weeks later after getting the idea to plug her friends' screen names into livejournal? Yeah.

And besides, natural disasters always pale in comparision to what we manage to do to each other once things get well-organized. Just in the last 100 years:

The Turkish massacre of 1.5 million armenians in 1915

The Nazi Holocaust of 6 million jews

5 million Ukranians who starved in the Soviet tax famine of 1932

14 million Russian peasants killed in stalin's 1930-1937 purges

4 million Chinese during Japan's occupation

35 million chinese during the Mao regime.

Not to mention that I probably missed a few.

Beautiful analysis you've done there, just to give you another datapoint, the in-store demo of Rogue Leader and pipe dreams of Perfect Dark 2 were all it took to have me sold on the gamecube. I picked up a copy of melee for my little brother almost as an afterthought. Boy did I have things backward, here it is 3 years later with Rogue Leader collecting dust on the shelf, Rare being a subsidiary of Microsoft, and weekly smash brothers tournaments with my friends. The game is immortal. It's going to go down with the likes of Tetris - Dr. Mario and Perfect Dark for replayable multiplayer spazzery.
