if microsoft said they were bundling a software tracking system to their products people would flip out.
I think people would be right to get upset at someone else telling you what you are going to be sharing.
This is a Linux dtstribution saying -->HERE-- is a program that might let us track popular software installations. . . Install it if you want to.
That 'if you want to' part is what makes this acceptable to me.

When I signed up for cable television, I purchased access to crash, abusive, violent, sexual, morbid, humerous, and offensive content. If I wanted to watch purple dinos and signing hand puppets I could get that with public television over the airwaves. I PAID for access to the offensive stuff. I LAUGH at kids getting ninja throwing stars stuck in their eyes.
I did not pay money to have a television raise your fucking kids. I support child care programs with tax dollars, but using laws and regulations to replace parenting with a TV is too much.
10 I sell stock I don't have to people that want it at an outrageous price 20 I buy stock when the price hits a bottom and profit the difference. 30 id10ts see me buying large amounts of stock and think it must be hot so they buy and the price goes up 40 GOTO 10
Investing is not about supporting a company, it's about taking peoples money before they take yours.
I used to love science. I would read articles, study the techniques and figure out how to do experiments on my own. I once cloned a gene using jello, gummi worms, a rubbermaid box, some wire, some twine, a tylenol bottle,a pinch of lye, and a lantern battery.
Obviously science and biochemistry was something I would do as a hobby . . . out of school now, and having been working for 6 years in the field. . . there is no desire left to do science in the kitchen, it just feels like work without the pay.
Even at work it feels like work more than a hobby with pay.
Thought all the bugs were found and the patches were applied . ..Microsoft is proud to present . . . XP/Reloaded. XP/Reloaded presents the user with a whole new arsenal of exciting exploits, more 'colorful' default thems, and a larger more invasion nav bar.
back in the old days I spent my days analysing patterns in sequences by hand . . . then came the computer. Now I read slashdot all day, and could care less about those patterns.
For me the computer is a stress reduction.
TAYLOR: I would actually look at a similar construct but a different answer. You have to ask one of two questions. Is it either a) Windows is priced too high, or b) are we offering the right product at the right price point? We position Windows server as a multifunction server that does a variety of things. So in some ways, we've got a McDonald's No. 5 super-size offering that costs $2.99 and someone just wants a Diet Coke that costs 99 cents. So do we cut the entire super-size No. 5 down to 98 cents, or do we try to find a way to just give somebody the Diet Coke if that's what they want?
So In order to parse this jibberish I have to assume that Windows in the full meal, supersized with bloated code. This "full meal" only comes in one flavor, and no special orders are taken.
Linux is like ordering your items the way you want them from a full menu of items, even diet, if slim and efficient is your thing.
I get confused when they compare themselves to McDonalds though . . . McD can and will sell me the diet coke I want seperate from the meal. . . but Windows can't be broken apart because a broken window is useless ?
Can anybody make sense out of this crap ?
I think I just want the diet coke.

I only need one mouse button to open the terminal.
IN true American business fashion . ..
1) Boeing sells designs to foreign company
2) terror group gets hands on helicopters
3) U$A gives contract to friends (Boeing//Lockheed)
for design of new chopper that can rival terror groups.
4) ???

I don't really care who has the most advanced search capabilities. I use google because all the paid links appear off to the side in a different color.
Thats all I really want . . . to get my search result seperate from the commercially paid for product placements.
This study was rigged. They discounted all the recent trojans, viruses, other windows exploits . . . then failed to normalise their data on the number of machines using the OS. I might be the only one running OS-X Server for all I know . . . of course it's going to be a lower number of attacks.
I figure I saved almost $600 on razor blades since I bought my straight razor back in 98. Plus the ladies love the straight razor . ..or maybe just the leather whipping strap on my wall.
The cost of developing and maintaining a weapons program like this must be much greater than the amount needed to buy and maintain world peace.

I was going to take a cab home, but decided to try to drive anyways . ..the device malfunctions and I drive drunk and put my car in the ditch . . . can I sue the manufacturer of the blo-tube ? What about the crew that did the install? I would think that these devices should be responsible for the people it lets on the road.

It only takes on click to open the terminal.
It only takes 1 minute to switch to a different mouse.

Sure, Linux is the most breached system on the internet . . . discounting M$ worms, trojans, viruses, and other damning evidence against windows.
That "study" was highly flawed in it's approach.

Who would want something like this ?
6 months from now this WAV file playing, industrial automotive painted POS is going to be obsolete.
Who wants to hear an engine reving race car while starting up an outdated, gawdy ass red notebook.
