    they also gave us Comic Sans MS, the terrible font that still shows up everywhere because some people think it's cool. :-(

    Now, what pleases ones eye is something you cant argue about. I, for one, like Comic Sans MS. Not because its "cool", but because it fits where I use it. So yes, Microsoft has come up with something useful in the past.
    A font type.

    I've heard countless stories of stupid people who drive their car with the parking brake on

    I have done that twice. Once on winter time so it was slippery enough not to notice that my parking brake was still on, and once on dry summer day. Didnt notice anything before I stopped on red lights and saw smoke coming from my tires.

    I cant speak but for myself, but we use some Java applications at my work. Some work just fine while others literally grinds the computer to total halt. IANAP (I am not a programmer) but somehow I get the feeling that some Java applications are just badly programmed. Why else the variation in performance?

    Nothing much has changed since then. The only new thing is that you let the OS guess what soundcard you have.

    Turning our moon to a black hole wouldnt change things much. All we lose is the illumination provided by the surface of the moon as the new black hole would have the same mass as the moon. It would still orbit and cause tidal effects or something...
