Thank you. Very good point. If those waterless urinals don't stink, I don't mind paying my share to put them everywhere.
Just to ad to your point about rounding errors, Social Security is paid separately out of social security money, not out of regular federal tax revenue, so it doesn't even belong on the list with Military Spending etc...
1. If an electronics product dies after a year and 1/2, I am not surprised. I think it could have lasted longer, but it was probably my bad luck and don't expect anyone else to do better. If I get a second iPod and it also breaks that quickly, I might start looking around.
2. The user interface rocks.
3. I don't have to worry about MAC compatibility. I remember the time I bought a Sony minidisk without realizing how un-MAC it was. What a pain.
4. I am a MAC fanboy. I'm not completely unthinking about it, for example, a D-link wireless router is just fine considering how expensive an Airport base station is, but my fanboy status does allow me to pay a premium on Apple products without remorse.
My iPod died two months ago, (second gen 40GB. So sad.) As I was deciding over a repair ($250) a refurbished, or a new iPod I heard a rumor on/. about a new line for the 30th birthday. So I've waited. If they don't announce, I will feel like quite the chump.
Just in case anyone out there is looking for a new extension project, Firefox needs a really good auto fill feature. Anyone who has used Safari a lot knows just how helpful good auto fill is. There are a few extensions out there already, but they don't hold a candle to Safari. I use FF anyway though primarily because of how amazing adblock is.
I roommate of mine a few years back was working for a major bureaucracy in the public transportation sector (please forgive my being coy. Normally I'd just blurt out the name, but in this case it's not my story.) She built a web page highlighting the specific work she was doing that was part of the larger corporate website. On her own initiative, she made her site compliant to the standards that blind computer users needed. Instead of being thanked for her efforts, she was ordered by her superiors to take down her page. They feared that her compliance would highlight the non-accessibility of the rest of the web site of the organization, and they were covering their asses.
According to CNET.com.au, Dell has effectively denied rumours that it's acquired rival PC vendor Alienware, suggesting that all speculation should be taken "with a grain of salt".
It's been my understanding (perhaps wrong) that the buzz you get from coffee (and tea) is supplied by your adrenal glands, and so caffeine drinking taxes your adrenals, perhaps leading to future pernicious effects. Any researches out there? Has there been a study on this, if not, would you do one?
I recently migrated from Safari to Firefox, and the one thing I have really missed is Safari's autofill. It was perfect. I have an autofill extension for Firefox, but it really stinks. Am I missing a good one? If not, could someone make one as good as the one in Safari?
Don't let this be vapor! I can produce 6 GB on a busy weekend (photos, mostly weddings) and each 18 months a new camera with 30% larger files comes out. I have a small mountain of external drives, and have been praying for something like this. But, INHO the more grandiose an initial announcment is, the more likely I'm never going to see anything like it. What do you think? Have I found an answer to my dreams, or should I go back to bed?
Check this out, FTA "The lawsuit seeks, among other things, to require Craigslist to report to the government any individual seeking to post a discriminatory ad."
Yikes! The lawsuite requires CL to be a snitch. Who are these people?
The business thing is really true, and will continue to be a large factor, but if Apple can stay ahead of the game in digital lifestyle, I think people who are used to an Apple will want one at home.
If I were an OS maker thinking of the future, I would want as many school kids to work on my computers as possible. People stick with what they are used to, so if a kid works with Mac's in school, what are they going to get when they go to college, or when they buy a house. Has anyone seen any data on lifetime loyalty or stickiness for operating systems?
The songs I've bought from iTunes tell me that I can transfer them to a total of x number of other computers. (Is it 5? I don't remember. Lets just say it is 5.) Well, if I get a new computer every 2 years, that means in 12 years from buying a song, I can't use it on my new computer any more. That's kind of bullshit. Obviously, their DRM is easy to get around (burn audio CD, rip audio CD) but who wants to hassle? Did anyone say allofmp3.com?
I read TFA. (OK, I read the first 1/3 and skimmed the rest.) I never saw a mention of money. How much is this going to cost? And it seems like it's just talking about large volume senders, not people who send a few at a time. Is that what you got too?
I may have something wrong here, but it seems as though the company is blaming the gay player for harassment that might come from other players. That would be like banning women from playing so that men don't harass them. It seems pretty backwards to me.
Ever since Google went public, "Don't Be Evil" means about as much as "Staples, That was Easy" or "Have it Your Way" or "We Do Chicken Right" which is to sat, nothing at all.
A private company can have morals. A public company has "fiduciary responsibility" instead. There is no legal framework for moral decisions in a corporate board, though one could come from the shareholders.
I can't believe how much attention Apple DRM gets. Lets review the complicated process that only advanced computer users have the necessary skills to perform.
1. Burn an Audio disk.
2. Convert disk to MP3.
3. There is no three. Your done.
That's Apple DRM. OK, good for them for building something that looks like DRM so they could drag the dinosaurs in the music industry kicking and screaming into the digital age. I'm sure there were a lot of meetings where the presence of Fair Play was vital to not getting tossed out on the street in front of a moving bus. But do we really have to pretend along with them that they have a real DRM? If you have ever given Apple DRM a minute of worry, you should ask for that minute back.
I've heard Dr. Michio Kaku theorize that dark matter is the gravitational effect of the matter of other universes that are close to ours. I found that to be an intriguing thought, bringing two pretty wild ideas, dark matter and multiple universes, together in a coherent and even intuitive way.

Next Monday, lets all pay down our largest bill by $1,000 or more. That should swamp their system for a day or two.

what bonehead moderator thought you were trolling? Yikes!
Thank you. My point exactly. 6 button mouse fugue does not equal () hype summary.

Can you say plausible deniability?

Anything that comes in a box? (no spares here)
Where? I've been looking for that! (no I'm not kidding or trolling)
