I've had the same problems with my (crappy) D-link router. It was randomly rebooting itself and dropping my connection. The cable connection was fine however the router just wasnt working. I called their tech support, the guy told me to power it down, wait 5 seconds (he counted to me over the phone) then power it back up (as if i didnt try it before). It still didnt work, he asked me to press the factory reset button (which i already tried) and it still didnt work. He then hung up on me, no joke.
I found out a couple years ago that my Grandpa has been using "netspeak" with his ham radio (morse code) for the past 40 years!! And his English (grammar) is just fine.
I've always had my doubts about UPS. Whenever i order anything online (frequently) i try to opt for FedEx. Whenever something gets shipped by UPS it either is laying in my yard! sitting on the sidwalk in the rain! (yes just the box, no protection or anything!) or just plain late (i mean weeks late not just a couple days). FedEx always either knocks or places the packages behind the door if im not home, and in plastic if its raining (yeah i know not as safe but at least its concealed behind the door). After seeing all the pictures of damaged packages on that UPS site im going to stop using them for sure.
I went on a Lighthouse tour last summer in the Straights of Mackinac (Lake Huron / Lake Michigan) And many of the Lighthouses there are being either purchased or maintained by The Great Lakes Lighthouse Keepers Association. If it werent for them many of them would be torn down or dismantled. None of them house any people any longer, however they are used for fog horns, and they do have transponders which tell the freighters how far away from them they are etc. One (Round Island Light) is even used as an airplane transponder to guide aircraft. I can see them being replaced by GPS guidance, but i would hate to see them go...
it dosent really matter how old the technology is, if its secret then they cant have it. Cellphones are based on declassified WWII technology, and the SR-71 is 30 years old and still one of the most advanced spy planes in the world. And just look at the shuttle, it was designed in the 70's.
RTFA:
The weather service has agreed to let the Coast Guard add transmitters to about 70 buoys by 2007
They arent deploying NEW buoys they are only adding additional equipment to existing buoys.
Thats actually not that far off!!
i wouldnt doubt if McDonalds starts offering BioDiesel. I subbmitted an article to Slashdot (got rejected:( ) about McDonalds now offering Movie Rentals!
It was designed by John Z. DeLorean, the same guy who designed the GTO for Pontiac. Too bad he was a coke head or else we could have seen some more cool cars from him.
I like how Bush is bringing up all of these 'great' ideas all of a sudden now that his job is on the line. (although this idea was brought up by gore 4 years ago). But IF he is reelected i wouldnt be suprise at all if the Moon plans and these broadband by 2007 plans never materialize.
For some reason I don't think the people at Forbes really know anything about FPS games. I think DoomIII and HL2 will do great because they are going to have breakthrough graphics. Screw them.
Doed anyone have any news on wheather or not (or when) the Clone Wars cartoon is going to be on DVD?
I didnt catch the first season at all ('cept for the first episode) but i would really like to see them.
I recently read an article somewhere about WalMart already using RFID tags in Gillette products to track who is buying what etc etc...
However i feel if there will be some kind of widespread implementation of these RFID tags; there will no doubt be plans all over the net for some kind of scanners and possible devices that neuturalize them... (with parts purchased from Radio sHack) therefore i'm not 'too' worried about them. But i do feel that they are a step towards invasion of privacy.
Very Old. I remember reading this in Popular Science over a year ago.
It's a bloodbath yet he kept out the frames of the bolts of Lasers hitting the Imperial guards and Storm Troopers from the OT. Whats the deal?

Doubt it since the OC is on Fox, and Fox distributes Star Wars...
GM cars have MP3 players and XM radio.... but not Sirius.
