er... if you want to interest 'normal' high school students, good luck. If you want to interest the average high school male you must include either sex or violence, possibly both. If you want to interest a female....who am I kidding, I read slashdot, I know nothing about what interests females, maby er 'poetries, or creativities something like that. The key to success is simple to understand, but difficult to master, that way you won't lose the average ones, and the smartass smart ones won't scoff.
I skipped from 6th grade math to Algebra I (some seniors only get that far) and didn't miss anything. Anything at all. I also skipped a year of English, missed nothing. I'm headed to graduate a year early completely unprepaired yet I've run out of things to take other than commuting a half hour a day to community college. Pathetic.
I'm being totally serious here, my senior class voted for Another Brick in the Wall for our class song. It was rejected the next day, we'd rebel, but alas we're just too lazy i guess:)
You know there was a time that art wasn't about money. Google gives everything away and they still happen to be making just a little bit of money. And, I don't recall there being a similarity between "making a living" and having more money than most small African nations. There are still such things as concerts [impossible to reproduce experience, not piratable] which I would be willing to pay for.
Why is it that people are so scared of nuclear plants, i would find global climate change to be a lot worse than the ever reducing risk of a nuclear accident. I'd rather have a few square miles potentially ruined than a certain change to the global system.
This enviromentalism is one area where the conservative idea just can't work. If you're wrong about it and say, the icecaps melt, or there are 20 hurricanes a year, it's already too late to fix things. The truth is that these enviromental disasters are a natural part of the system, but with carbon emissions, we're changing the system in one way or the other without complete understanding. I'd rather pay a little more on gas and have a lesser economic growth than even risk such things.
What seems strange to me is that people are amazed at the dumbshit-iness of the American public, they have been and probably always will be uninformed when it comes to something not involving reality television or janet jackson's (unattractive) boob. so GA
this bitch was approved by me, a dumbshit American citizen
I don't think you're looking into the history well enough, or deep enough. France didn't help the colonists for the sake of Americans, they did it as a part of their continued war against the UK. The United States didn't help France for France, they did it because they knew that Hitler would almost certainly conquor every country in Europe, and continue to expand across certain Atlantic Oceans. If Germany wasn't defeated as quickly as it was, they would have finished their work on The Bomb. (you know which one) and they would used it, the US would have used theirs, and boom, we're all here today living in caves with three legs see?
you have to understand that nearly everyone can tell the difference between playing a game and living their life. Games are also different than tv which appears to be equivalant to real life, when I'm playing I don't have to think about the suffering of my 'enemy' if i shoot him, because he's just a few ones and zeroes jumping around in my console. I'm still waiting for a repeatable _scientific_ study proving any significant change in behavior caused by game playing. Unless of course you think faster reactions and strong thumbs are a detrement to society:)
The thing is that in a diamond mine the product has actual monitary value, a DVD costs about as much as a hamburger bun to produce (probably a lot less). In a month somebody will put versions of H2 on the net any so are they really losing more money? No. Oh God please no, someone played the new HALO 2 before me!!!! The world will end in a fiery hell now. Give me a break and overreact about something more important, like the color pink. Eww.
lets enact MORE laws to protect idiots from themselves. I personally, am fine with large groups of imbicilles with no money going to casinos and paying the 'stupid tax' so I don't have to. Evolution will eventually take over
Just watch how IE is loosing ground to Firefox so quickly, not because Microsoft made a mistake, but because normal dumb users are finding a better product. Sorry to say, but Linux is not a better product if you're the average dumb computer user. It often looks choppy, doesn't have games, difficult to install, etc etc. Until Linux is more idiot friendly, and cool looking out of the box, it won't take any significant piece of the market.
math+uselessness=stupidity
That formula means nothing to mathematics, it's just a stupid way to say something everybody already knows in English. You can't prove such a formula because it has to do with people(irritatingly inconsistant systems), not math(nicely consistant- 2+2 always = 5 ).
I hate the evil empire I really do, but I've got work to do here. Really, people are getting much too excited about this, Microsoft will eventually die, but not yet anyway. It just depends on how much Longhorn sucks.
I believe in something like a first cause arguement for God, but for different reasons. I believe God exists because Everything exists. Nobody has explained the ultimate why of the reason for anything existing at all to my satisfaction. I attribute my existance to God and don't consider the existance of God. I don't claim to understand God because I know that I can't understand such a thing. God is a level above me and I can't comprehend how or why. Explaining God to a human is like explaining differential calculus to a lizard (or President W. HA) you just can't do it and I accept that.
Firstly, all nuclear weapons should be destroyed. Saying that I'll justify having them. These bombs were created to protect the US and USSR from each other in the cold war, neither country cared if an international body told them they couldnt' have them because they were the ONLY powers in the world. US keeps its nukes as a deterrant, to make sure that everyone knows that starting a nuclear war means no one wins, and everybody dies. We also keep them because every president knows that if he were to use them for any first strike, he would be publicly castrated and fed to a pack of wolves within the hour.
Mark me troll if you like, but I'm caring less and less about Microsoft propeganda. We all understand they're fascists now, so can we get on to some 'real' interesting news? The audience of slashdot doesn't need to be educated every day about Microsoft's untruths ok?
Dumbest application of technology....ever. I have to say I think this technology would do nothing except make cars more expensive and roads less safe. A good driver can see a damn sign with their own two eyes so they don't need this. A bad driver who pays little attention to the road will be made worse because he will depend on the system instead of (gasp) looking at signs. When the system fails as it most certainly will, the good driver will only notice a wallet deficit, the bad driver won't see a sign he wasn't looking for and will run a stop sign and kill someone, then blame the system. Not a good idea. When it works it's useless, when it doesn't it's deadly. How about car mfg. pay 5000 to pay for driver education instead of stupid technology eh?
ok the idea of 64 bit is that floating point operations will have twice as many places past the decimal as 32 correct? Am I wrong or do processors not have the power to fill in the finer detail that 64 bit would provide in real-time which is necessary for games. Maybe if you ran a 64 bit cluster to play Pong it'd give better details, but otherwise I don't think 64 bit will offer much for a few more orders of magnitude.
This is how I understand the electoral college originally worked:
Normal everyday people had absolutely no idea who even wanted to be president, so they elected a smart person in their area (who knew of canidates) who agreed with their political views, that person once selected would communicate with other electors and finnally cast a vote for whoever he wanted to be president. It was ridiculusly unfeasable for canidates to make themselves known to the common man at the beginning, so they didn't. The electoral college was the way the founding fathers devised to have an elected offical that wasn't just randomly selected by the people because they didn't know enough, while keeping the democratic ideal.

The Uranium came from somewhere didn't it? Why can't power plants just put it back in the mines it came from?

time to make myself some meta-diamond muhahahaha

Wouldn't multi-processor systems be ideal for a real time operating system? One (or more) for real time processes and another for OS processes.

I wonder how hard it would be to use spraypaint on signs to hack the camera to 'see' different things. Muhahaha
