Uh Oh... I rebooted my memory last night with Scotch and I can't remember the movie. What now? I forgot to record it with my "Memory Tivo".

  4. Re:Blame? Look in the mirror. on 2003 CD Sales Officially Down 7.6 Percent · · Score: 1

I quit buying the CDs because I couldn't get the damned shrink wrap off when I got it home... But seriously folks, if singers of the 50's and 60's hadn't made records, there would not be anything to listen to these days. Rap Crap - I can't understand the words anymore to modern music... but I DID enjoy seeing Janet Jackson's bare and decorated titty on TV. Thanks Janet, for the mammary. I understood THAT! But I won't buy your music.

  5. Re:Lindos on Lindows Agreeing to Change Name · · Score: 1

I don't think LINDOS will work either. Remember the fuss that MS caused over a guy's name: Mike Roe Soft sounded too much like MS. I predict LINDOS will fail for the same reason. Sounds like LINDOWS. Why not some new name like HERBIE? or CLICKIT? Oh well, MS will be bullying people for ever and ever. It will never stop.

You're absolutely right. The only deal in this whole thing is selling the "service" to some dolt who will shell out the money for the 100 year rights. IN a few years the company is belly up and the money has gone. A better sales pitch would be for 1000 years for just $19.95 more. LMAO

Hah! I laugh in your face. (said with a Spanish dialect as in old Western Movies) I used to take the tapes out of my TRS-80 and Color CoCo tape recorders and stretch the tape between two doors in the house making the tape thinner and thinner, allowing for more and more data to be stored. It wooorkd great and I gto noe erorz at awl...

Thanks for the post. I knew that copies of original workss can be made even if copyrighted. That's just the point, so why can't we, as private citizens, make copies of DVDs for our own use by DeCSSing them - or not - for whatever purpose or machines or OS we want to use - desktop, pocketPC, laptop, Linux, or whatever?

  11. Re:What's the difference between this and music? on Ripping DVDs to Handhelds = Fair Use? · · Score: 5, Insightful

What's the difference between 100 people looking at a ripped DVD and 100 people reading the same paper book over and over... Wait a minute! That's what happens at a Government run Library. Poor authors. They get to sell only one copy of the book and hundreds get to read it. What's fair about that?

  19. What DV to buy on Reviews for Digital Camcorders? · · Score: 1

Look at the new SONY DVs that write to a small 3 inch CD. Why? Because when the filming session is over the "movie" is permanently on the CD to keep forever and there's no extra steps to do to preserve the "event". Sure the little CDs cost 25-50 cents but they are forever. The specs on the $899 Sony looked better than the $1099. YMMV. Both can be bought for way less via the Web so you can stay under your $1k. Optical zoom of course is the one to look at, not Digital "blowup" zoom.
