I did not say that red states where free from political abuse, rather that both parties share an equal blame. The two parties just atack libirties from different angles. The patriot act was a bipartisan bill, and a continuation of clinton era legislation. Most gun legislation is backed and introduced by the democratic party. My only point is that there are better ways to approach political issues than to blame the other side. We could start by voting for individules who will do what is right and not what is politicaly convinient, regardless of what party they belong to. As for your other comments, all powers not specificaly deligated or prohibited in the consitution are remanded to the states. Each state has a consitutional right to define drug laws, marage laws, even abortion laws as they see fit. There is not constitutional right to a government endorsed marriage. I will agree though that it is not the federal governments place to pass marrage laws any more than I believe it's thier place to pass gun or drug laws.
Speaking of all things trek, any one know when that phone that looks like a comunicator is comming out. I think it was from a company called sona or something like that.
I am a very conservitive person from a "Red" state. I have no problem with leagalazation. The constitution does not set limits on what substances we may or may not consume niether does it give the federal government that power. I think that the current perversion of the interstate conmmerce law to ban drugs and various fire arms along with it's other misuses is extreamly unconstitutionl. I believe each state has a consitutional right to decide for themselvs, that is what that pesky 10th amendment says is it not. Most of the people I know, even the staunchest of republicans do not have an issue with leaglization. My dad who is a baptist minister is for leaglization. I think your assumption that "Red" states are somehow against personal freedom and blue states are not is a bit color blind. You may find that it is not the people of either set who have these issues rather it's the congress critters, and not just the "Red" ones. Just for clarification I consider myself an indy and not a repulbicrat of any color.
Ok so lets say you develop the latest greatest OSX to run XP programs, well next M$ comes out with vista and a new API you don't have rights to whats a company to do. You allow the users to install a leagly licensed version of Vista in a dual boot fasion and then make it possible to run Vista programs by accessing the licensed Vista API they installed.
I would disagree; there is nothing inconsistent between the theory of evolution, a biblical view of creation, and observed reality. There is however incompatibility between abiogenesis and creation. The theory of evolution does not assume either kind of creation as it's basis, instead it is simply a model for the way living things change to survive in there environment. I personally believe in a young earth (10,000-20,000 years), I also believe that evolution occurs all the time. There is no inconsistency here, I believe God created life and gave it the marvelous ability to survive. I do not believe that man arose from ape or that mammals came from the sea, but there is nothing in the theory of evolution that would compel me to. Now if you where to say that creationism is incompatible with a naturalistic view of the world I would agree, however you are using an old bait and switch tactic to farther your argument. You are using abiogenesis as it is applied with the theory of evolution to argue against a creator God. Abiogenesis is no more a testable theory than creation. Even if we could create life from nothing in a lab that only shows it is possible it no more proves that life formed from non-life than it does that an intelligent being could create life.
Finaly, some one understands. Why should the government be able to tell me what I can and can not buy. I am an adult I can figure out on my own how safe I want to be and if I want to risk my life driving an unsafe car, or riding a bike with out a helmet, or smoking crack, or what ever else. It is not the governments concern. Here is the dividing line between what I will call the neo liberl and a true conservitive(not the bush loving republicrates we have now) A new liberl belives humans are unable to make informed decisions on thier own and therfor the Feds should step in and do it for us, while the true conservitive belives we are quite capable of making our own decisions and if we make the wrong one then its our own dam fault and we must take personal responsibility for the action. In other words if I don't want airbags and I die then its my own dam fault, my family should not be able to sue the car manufacturesor rather they should be unable to win unless there was reason to belive the car manufacturs where at fault(withholding info, bad parts, etc...), lawers should not make any money off of it, I should be put in the ground and thats it game over.

Just a thought, being a rider myself. I would think acceleration would be much more important than achieveing speeds greater than 65mph. If you are in an area with lots of curves where you need a quick response on the throtle you would probably agree. In fact if I had to choose two I think it would be acceleration and effeciency over effeciency and speed, speed is always nice but realy most places you can't ride that fast anyways. On another note I would kill to have a good electric motorcycle. I think that would be the coolest thing ever.
You do realize there are fundi enviromentalist who would just as hapily kill every living person so the earth can heal itself right. I don't think blowing up a power plant is out side thier real of reasoning.
I've wathced shows on the FBI taking down MOB bosses and thats essintialy what they where doing. It took the FBI some time but they where able to desipher the code and arrest a large portion of the involved family.
Lets say the tinfoil hat crowd is right and the government is out to track you, here is how it could go down. Every piece of clothing sold has an ultra thin RFID chip imbeded in the hem. You purchase said clothing with a credit card now said clothing is linked to your name. Now all thats needed is to install scanners at stratigic locations and wham they know who and where you are(untill you give all your clothes to goodwill that is).
I'm into B&W analog photography and on one of the message boards I frequent(apug.org) I've heard stories like this from serveral people. In the US it tends to be security guards, park officials, and small town police that are the most problimatic. Some will try to take your film or worse your equipment and don't understand the concept that they don't have the right to do it. In the U.S. you can photograph anything provided you are standing on public ground, with the possible exception of millitary installations and nucular facilities. Alot of photographers have taken to caring pamphlets with them that detail local and federal laws that pertain to photography.
Yea, I like google earth but havn't been able to run it since I switched to OSX. I always enjoyed looking at how many geocaches where in diffrent areas on google earth.
I think apple's success is it's worst enemy. So many people know the apple name and just know apple is "Diffrent". My dad is a good exapmle. He is looking at replacing his current laptop(which never leaves the desk) in a couple months. Being tired of constantly cleaning spyware and virii off his machine I suggested an apple. He told me that he did not want that because he knew it was diffrent and wouldn't work like windows and his software wouldn't run. I explaned that it was diffrent but not harder and let him use my power mac. I also let him use open office and now he is all set to order his mac mini.

You drank to much coffee before you read this story.
I don't get how gmail is going to help figure this out.

If you think that's alot of smiley faces, youv'e never been to a Jeep Jamboree.
Nice to see another mountainer. I'm from about 20 miles south of star city in Fairmont. Keep your couch safe and have a nice day.

I love Mrs. Packman on the cocktail tables.
Um, Yes. This isn't a trick question is it?

Once again Hemp has been shown to be the answer to all that ails ya.
Perhaps it's not somuch a double standard as a stament on the relitive inteligince of the standard Windows user.
She must have 30 or 40 cats and she spends $500 or $600 dollers a month on vet bills. I finaly understand.

Am I the only one who finds it ironic that we may lick aids. I mean I thought that was one way it spread.
