I use Focus follows mouse all of the time on our Solaris 2.5 systems (First one to laugh gets it). It works fine and I love it. The best part is watching the confused look on our technicians faces when they set down at a station I'm logged into. I don't currently have a Linux system so I can't speak to it's functionality there.

That may be true but let's think a bit smaller for now. you could have ultra small monitor powered by the same blood sample you where testing. You may still need a disposable strip of some sort but without the need for batteries the size could be decreased. My brother is diabetic and I'll describe what I think would be ideal for him. You start with a device that is the size of a credit card and flexible enough to survive in a wallet. On one side you have ten to fifteen strips which "tear off" of the card sized tester. On the other half you have a low energy display of some sort, perhaps e-ink who knows. You tear off one strip insert it into the screen side and your blood both powers the machine and gives the sample. After you have used the available strips the entire device is discarded. With printable circuits, paper batteries, and a low cost display it could be fairly cheap and you would by these in bulk. They may not be ideal for testing your blood in the middle of the night with the lights off but for daily use while your out and about it would be perfect.

I would agree if we where simply discussing overall OS usage trends. However the OP did not use the data to discus "how many people use OS Y" but rather to posit the idea that "it would look like slashdot readers prefer XP as a plurality". Since we are talking about the preference of the end user and not of those choosing the OS I believe it was fair to point out this flaw in his original assumption. I would also agree however that the personal OS choices of slashdot readers are irrelevant to TFA and this entire string is slightly off topic so I digress less I sound more trollish than I intended.

I only have one issue with your post. You state it looks like "it would look like slashdot readers prefer XP as a plurality". I would assume that most slashdot readers tend to use the site while at work (come on be honest now). If this is the case they may not have direct control over which OS they are using. For instance the use of XP on our systems is mandated by our corporate office. We are just a small satellite in the middle of no where and TPTB could care less which OS I think we should be running.

I worry that the Article 4 section 1 of the constitution could be interpreted to mean congress has the right to force states to adopt real ID. The article states that congress can enact laws to prescribe the way records are proven between states. I wonder if they can use that to force this issue on states.

    Article. IV. - The States
Section 1 - Each State to Honor all others
Full Faith and Credit shall be given in each State to the public Acts, Records, and judicial Proceedings of every other State. And the Congress may by general Laws prescribe the Manner in which such Acts, Records and Proceedings shall be proved, and the Effect thereof.

I think this is simple negligence on the equipment designers part. However, if I where going to rig an electronic vote I would show the voter there results and even give them a printed "receipt". You would be counting on the fact that the majority of voters are not going to check, they just push the buttons and leave. That way if the mistakes are caught after the fact I can just say, it was a glitch and the voters had an opportunity to correct it at the polls. It's using the statistics and the laziness of the average American to cover up a much deeper conspiracy.

While mass produced rice cut beers (bud, miller, etc) may be fairly uninteresting there are plenty of great regional beers. There is a beer in P.A. called Yuengling which is incredibly great, they have a black and tan to die for and pretty good porters and lagers to. I will admit I've not tried their ail / verity's, I'm more of a dark beer guy. There are also all kinds of brewpub type micros making for a good drink. You just have to step outside the norm. To be honest though I don't mind Sam Adam's but they seem to still have a microbrewery feel to them. For a slight bit of trivia Yuengling claims to be americas oldest brewery founded in 1829. http://www.yuengling.com

While I agree, just a point. The problem's associated with hydro locking an internal combustion engine are slightly exaggerated. If the engine is shut off immediately it's fairly easy to get the water out of the engine. Remove a spark plug, turn the starter and watch the squirt gun like fun. A little wd40 to dry the distributer(if you have one) and you can usually get home where you will want to perform an oil change. The key is shutting of the engine/not trying to restart it once you realize you've taken on water. This won't always be possible but good drivers can usually avoid a hydro lock if they think quick enough. We have done this enumerable times with Jeeps in our club.
