What scares me is that giving the UN control of the DNS servers will allow people from outside of America control an American's inherent right to free speech. If I put up a site that dishes on the Queen of England then she can petition the UN to revoke my domain name. If I wanted to put a site up called BRANDNAME-SUCKS.COM WIPO might close me down.
How is that different then now? The BRANDNAME-SUCKS.COM scenario already happens(I work at a registrar, I know). All someone has to do is follow the Dispute Resolution Procedure outlined by ICANN(which, btw, is directly bound to the USPTO, as ICANN is situated within US borders) to get a domain siezed and handed over to the infringed party. At the least, you can make it a pain-in-the-ass procedure for the infringer(mikerowesoft.com).
If you insult the president, slander laws can take effect.
However, if you state factual information as to how badly the prez is f**king over the world, then you won't have a problem. As I am damn sure another prez somewhere else wants that piece of info to stay online.
I know that was meant to be sarcastic, but in this case I don't think there is anything to worry about.
Wiretapping will still require due cause. There are no Patriot-Act-like provisions being proposed. And besides, we have the Privacy Commisioner who is great at raising a stink should something unreasonable be proposed. And the last thing the Liberals want now is yet another stink.
For years radios had been operated by means of pressing buttons and turning
dials; then as the technology became more sophisticated the
controls were made touch-sensitive - you merely had to brush the
panels with your fingers; now all you had to do was wave your
hand in the general direction of the components and hope. It
saved a lot of muscular expenditure of course, but meant that you
had to sit infuriatingly still if you wanted to keep listening to
the same programme.
The PSP games will never update the firmware automatically or their warranty offices will get a shitload of bricked units. Firmwares require AC power to be connected for a reason, you don't want your battery going out during flashing.
However, many newer games require a certain version of firmware to run. Currently, you can trick these by using software that modifies the flash to show a different version number. However, eventually, games will start looking for unique encrypted firmware features. There are teams already working on making newer firmwares run over the current ones to allow access to features not available on your flash. There is already a firmware emulator that allows someone to load up 1.0, 1.51 or 1.52 firmwares on a 1.5 PSP
However, I'm optimistic that an exploit will eventually be found that will use something the PSP requires to keep older games functional.
Here in Canada, we had a publication ban on a public inquiry(yeah, we have our retarded policies too), about a group of currupt politicians who were stealing public money. No news org could report the news. So an American did it. He went a few kilometers back across the border and wrote up everything he heard and recorded. Our publication bans do not affect you guys and vice versa.

That would be true for PCs. Console life is generally between 4-6 years.
That's entirely untrue. You have a better chance acquiring RSD or CTS by using a regular controller then this. Regular controllers require repetitive movement with very little variation.
Like a trackball mouse, this forces the movements to vary greatly during the gameplay, repetitive stress disorders won't apply at all.
I'm not a dorctor, but I worked for a year helping in the design of iternet and computer kiosks for the physically challenged so I'm familiar with ergonomics.
The powerglove only had digital values for movement: up, down, left, right and center. No analogue movement. It also tracked forward and backwords in a way that it would tie these to existing controller inputs(punch forward as the "a" button in punch out).
As such, even the general settling of your arm would cause mario to jump off the cliff and force you to re-"center" the PG by hitting a button every 2 seconds. Above that, twiddling your finger to make a button happen was far from intuitive.
Every demo produced at TGS showed that this interface is smooth, responsive and intuitive to use. Not to mention it looks lke a helluva lot of fun.
2. Everyone has the following fundamental freedoms:
a) freedom of conscience and religion;
b) freedom of thought, belief, opinion and expression, including freedom of the press and other media of communication;
c) freedom of peaceful assembly; and
d) freedom of association.
Oh, for fuck's sakes. Americans get just as many bullshit cases like that then we do. That's why there is a -justice- system. This will be analyzed and thrown out due to human rights issues and previous case history.
Before you claim the following:
but at least we still have freedom of religion and speech, unlike Canada
Read our fucking Bill of Rights:
PART I
BILL OF RIGHTS
Recognition and declaration of rights and freedoms
1. It is hereby recognized and declared that in Canada there have existed and shall continue to exist without discrimination by reason of race, national origin, colour, religion or sex, the following human rights and fundamental freedoms, namely,
(a) the right of the individual to life, liberty, security of the person and enjoyment of property, and the right not to be deprived thereof except by due process of law;
(b) the right of the individual to equality before the law and the protection of the law;
(c) freedom of religion;
(d) freedom of speech;
(e) freedom of assembly and association; and
(f) freedom of the press.
The sad thing is, and trust me, I work at a registrar as tech support, that once a TLD is approved, only the big shot corporate companies(those with a few thousand domains already and up) get first pick. End users only get their hands in sometimes years after all the god ones are picked up by the likes of HP, MS, IBM, Oracle, etc....
tweak the levels in the system info screenshot and you see the "grain" of a square area around the processor and ram spec does not match that of the surrounding area.
Not only is this a photoshop job, but a very bad one by someone who doesn't know how to use layer blending.
However, solar an wind power solutions, which cannot produce 24-7(they need to adjust it to meet demand), will benefit from this greatly as superfluously generated power can be routed to "hydrogen refineries". Less energy waste means the other, messier, stations need not run as much.
Would you rather that some mid-eastern country with water 5x the cost of gas send their freshwater over or should the US with it's multitude of freshwater lakes, including it's border with Canada, which , I might add, contain the largest freshwater lakes in the world, supply it's own water.
Adding to that, Canada, Venezuela and others are offering to send over water purification systems to make all that water currently -in- New Orleans drinkable if the damn US gov't were to accept it already.
Many countries are offering support, including my own, Canada. The USA, however, has yet to accept any of it.
And I -will- be political here. As politics are just as god damned important to this situation as anything else. Because -politicians- are calling the shots here.
I just damn well hope that the delay in accepting aid from Koffi Annan is due to the flawed system rather then any kind of face saving or those responsible should be punished greatly.
And -speaking- of politics. Cuba and Venezuela have both offered assistance. The Red Cross accepted Venezuela's help I think. But the USA has not accepted Cuba's. If -THAT- ain't political, I don't f***ing know what is.

They might mention it(News coverage is still up), but no long episodes about it.
There's still Discovery, CPAC, ASN and various ATV flavors(although ATV/ASN is owned by Bell Globemedia.....)

Never piss off the hackers, they always win:)
This is soooooo stupid.

I thought Roger Wilco was discharged as janitor!
What about the Canadarm? Minus the big one on the ISS, how would one perform duties such as repair and such?
I ain't disputing or argueing, I'm genuinely curious and ignorant.
True enough. But then again, Hellsing and Trigun were mangas first. I just picked a medium and stuck with it:P
Prominent in Anime. For example:
Hellsing
Vampire Hunter D
If zombies are counted: GunGrave.
If immortals are counted: Trigun.
Also, I remember an older cartoon called Lonestar where the baddy was a skeleton man in a cowboy outfit who drove a hog.
If the police gets money from speeding tickets, the _offender_ pays, if they keep stolen goods for themselves, the _victim_ pays.
beat me to it;P
the cops' goal in that case would be to prevent further crime.
the RIAA is using the fruits of a network system they aim to destroy to profit themselves.
this is akin to the police using the money stolen from those banks to increase their annual budget.
