My friend once had a problem that he was worried about having his car stolen (who doesn't) and instead of taking the normal security mesures, he did some weird ass electronics under the hood and rewired shit. Strangely enough to start his car he now takes the front of his radio and there is a button there. The key infact does nothing but unlock the doors. Hes had quite a few people break into the car, but never once has anyone managed to drive it away =D
If only we could place this into our pcs somehow? A card we needed to plug in, a swipe card that works by being near the pc? Both of these could be stolen though.
Why not use the same system as pin numbers, enter it wrong 3 times and the machine shuts down, until you go and find that magic cd rom which is hidden in a locked box, with a REAL lock and REAL key?
Ok its an annoyance for the adverage user, but then they only need to remmber a fairly simple password, and 99% of the time it WONT be cracked in the first 3 attempts (i hope!). As long as it obeys the normal rules.
hey, in this day and age with all this UTF-8 errors causing people to look 3times at that url they clicked and having microsoft telling us NOT to use Hypertext links, what is the point OF making it clickable?
I know for sure that i HAVE spent sessions of over 12hrs constantly playing q3 (normally through a saturday) and would reckon that i used to get about 20-30hrs a week on q3, with about another 10 going just online.
I wonder what other games have this kind of online presence....
Im not a specialist in this, but HOW are they going to know if you have computers, apart from actually coming into your house and checking?
With TV's its pretty simple, you have this massive aerial plus they can pick up signals off your TV (or so they claim), does anyone know if PC's give off any types of signal like this?
And if they do come in? Well, im repairing these old pc's for friends and family, i dont OWN any of them. Same way a PC repair man doesn't need a TV licence for his shop (unless of course hes broadcasting the TV to the shoppers).

All failed, i now belive its due to a weird mb fault of some kind, and hopefully will delve into this later in time.

As for people having problems with odd hardware, nothign i have here is ODD, i do have a quite new gfx card, 6600 GT (BFG manufactured) but even this isn't cutting edge as to put it.
I reinstalled my XP a few days ago, left it for an hour. 2 problem items, 1. AC 97 sound card (which im used to installing) 2. Wireless Belkin PCI card... Pretty damn new too.

The nice new ms-users will flood the linux community, eventually all the ms-users will be using ext-2 and any normal linux user will tell them how to safely back up their work, and install a new o/s without any trouble.
In the end, ms will end up with a share of the linux user base (and it will be much larger than before) so everyone will be happy. Except when ms then realise they are trying to make money, and try charging for something...

I mean, all i hear, over and over, is how linux is BETTER than windows.
This last week i've been trying, over and over, to get ANY linux distro to boot upto a graphical user interface, so that my brother can use it without the worry of using the command line (which i think he could also use if he really tried). I've had no end of problems, first there was the problem of commands which stupid names, and commands which appeared the same.( xf86config is NOT xf86cfg )
I tried many distros, livecds and netinstalls, all of which failed in a different (And sometimes amusing ) ways. However, this just goes to show that linux is FAR from what is needed for the adverge JOE user to switch.
Plus its huge lack of support for games (i know its gathering but for joe, he just wants it to work) and such ideas as just plugging in some hardware and having it work.
Im not a windows lover, i hate m$ as much as the next guy, but unless someone can provide something which at least has a gui (yeh cmd line might be great but its not what i want) which works OUT OF THE BOX (or at least with very little configuring) then m$ are going to continue to win. Oh, and i also use firefox.

To this day i wonder if it was connected..... And if anyone thought if it was this kind of thing that could cause the weird things we see in nature.
Such as mutation of animals, illnesses which appear randomly in people (cancer?). Then again i for some reason thought that the rise in cancer in women (breast cancer mostly) was due to microwaves in the 60's having rubbish sheilding on them. Plus the fact that it was belived that the woman should stay at home, while the man of the house worked.

No person really hated someone else for the colour of their skin, they hated them for some other reason, yet people are stupid and they look for hte easilest flaw to blame, which in most cases is the fact that someone has differently coloured skin.
I ware glasses, and people used to use this as a method of getting to me, it was actually the fact that i did damn well in school, even when i had only 50%~ attendance, and they were jelious. Yet the only way they could get at me, would be making jokes about my glasses. They couldn't cope when i made jokes about my glasses too, when i would turn around and use them as an aerial for the radio which wouldn't work. It would confuse them to have someone putting them selfs down.
Im not saying that anyone should go "Hey look, im black, i might as well set my self on fire" or anything stupid like this. This isn't the point, the point is there is many underlying issues, which causes this hatrid, most of the time, the person effected cannot change this either, as they mostly didn't cause the problem in the first place. So they have to look on and say "What can i do? Nothing.... so i ignore it".
it might anger them to see someone writing these things, but its not like they could ever change this person, so why waste time worrying about it. It wont change the world, it wont stop kids bullying others over stupid little things like this.
Ignore it, it might not go away, but at least then it wont effect you?

i can have my laptop with a full battery in just 3 minutes too.
i carry a spare charged battery, one runs out, i flip her over and swop em. Instant charge, 8hour lovely hours of web browsing.
