I'm pretty sure they're still allowed to hire as many Americans as they want. They were in front of congress saying they couldn't hire all the foreigners they wanted due to current immigration law. Seems to me to be apples and oranges.
Wish I had mod points. I wholly agree with what you've said. I purchased a dye sublimation printer for my photos and it's been fantastic. If you are in the market for a photo printer, the dye sublimation is the way to go.
"The Bush Administration wouldn't get away with shutting down CNN."
A lot of people didn't think the Bush administration would get away with a lot of the things they've gotten away with. Torture? Nation building? Treason?
Shutting down a news organization would be a piece of cake. Blah blah blah they're terrorists blah blah blah for your own good blah blah mushroom cloud...
The very first thing I did when I got online was not rummaging around for porn (there would be plenty of time for that!), it was a search for all of the Primus bass tab that I could get my hands on.
It was the reason I wanted to get the 'net. I was at a friend's place and he went to WebCrawler and did a search for me. I was awed that there was such a resource potentially at my disposal.
I was surfing the net within a week of that day.
Everyone gets such a hardon trying to come up with new crazy new ways of doing things that have been done the same way since the dawn of the interwebs. They forget that they've been done that way for a reason... they work. People know what to expect. And they find themselves at ease and in a comfortable state when surfing within those parameters.
That's not to say there should be no innovation, but that innovation should make things easier to understand and use, not scare your customers away.
Having some far-leftists make a resurgence would be fantastic. Hannity and O'Reilly will have a helluva time trying to label Dems as the 'far-left' if there were any. How do you call a Barack or Hillary "far left" when there is this other party/group of folks calling for the government to raise taxes to pay for massive increases in social programs such as universal health care and welfare increases, etc.
If Opera were to support extensions similar to firefox (not widgets), I would switch to it in a heartbeat. I love it. But the added functionality that I get by adding in a few extensions to my Firefox install just can't be beat. I rely on them heavily and every time I go to give Opera another shot, I always find myself needing one of the extensions and going back to FF to continue on.
Are you talking US MPG or imperial MPG? There is a man here in Canada who on several occasions got over 100 imperial MPG in his smart. His best was 126 MPG (imperial) which does surpass 100 US MPG (120 imperial MPG) but that's rare to do that well.
I, too, have a smart. I've not hit the 100 MPG mark, but I do get 80+ MPG (again, imperial -- 68 US MPG) quite regularly and isn't too tough to do.
It can't be hamster farts... because it's dinosaur farts!
During the hearing, Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA) -- one of the 87 percent of congressional Republicans who do not believe in man-made global warming -- questioned the authors of the [IPCC] report about a period of dramatic climate change that occured 55 million years ago. "We don't know what those other cycles were caused by in the past. Could be dinosaur flatulence, you know, or who knows?'
But I digress... this is all really childish. The only thing these people have to do is a) create a free throw-away Yahoo! account, b) log in using this free throw-away account, c) tell flickr to use their preferred account (ie, their original account used when signing up) for all communications and, the hardest of all, d) stop pretending like they have more than 3000 people that they keep in regular touch with.
I think those flipping out over this are making mountains out of molehills here.
My friend's uncle had all of a sudden gone batshit crazy and eventually suicidal. One day, he attempted to take his life. He shot himself in the face.
He lived. While in care, they discovered that he had a tumor. Most of it was blown away when he shot himself in the face. They finished the job, attempted to reconstruct his face and he's mentally A-OK today.
So yes, tumors will make you do things that are not really 'you'.
But the corrections made to you hypothetical are much more representative of the way the music industry works. Artists are not given $X no matter what. They're given a loan. With that loan they create their work and all that it entails and then some. They split what is left over, if any, and are in debt to the label if they run a deficit.
I know she can be a bit bat-shit crazy, but here's a great transcript of a speech that Courtney Love gave to the Digital Holywood online entertainment conference outlining the abuse that artists are on the receiving end of from their record labels.
Yes, they really are charging for debit use. I have no credit card accessibility from my bank card. You'll see signs posted "$0.25 fee for purchases under $5/$10". The Subway down the road from my work charges $.25 per transaction. The variety store beside it does the same. Some places, if you are a regular, don't bother with it but it is practiced.
I work about an hour and a half from where I live and the same thing goes on at stores back at home, too. Southwestern Ontario.
Your comment about not shopping there is easier said than done. I live in a city of about 350K people. I can pick and choose much more easily there than residents of small communities can.
I know there are a fair number of Canucks on/., perhaps some of them have seen this in their neck of the woods.
Wouldn't GEOS on the ol' (and much beloved) Commodore 64 qualify as prior art? http://www.symbos.de/gfx/facts/geos.gif
OpenDNS? I use OpenDNS and it has adult site blocking capabilities. I have not personally tested them. But it's a start.

Sounds like Web 2.0 is just like Flash.

Plus, the poem "In Flander's Fields", from which we derived the symbolism of the poppy, is a poem from the Great War.
I'm just shocked to discover that the exact same hex value is my current network password here at work! It's crazy, I tells ya.

What fucked up animals we are. I wish well to all affected by this.
Even so, I bet his wireless carrier's data rates are cheaper than Canada's...

Music *AND* movies? I was under the impression that it was legal to download music but not movies.

Chuck Norris.
Sounds better than Moore's Prediction?

Google is the only way one can advertise a product on the web anymore?
Last I checked, Google was *one* place where you could buy ads. If you don't like it, advertise elsewhere.
