In my country Im stuck on a 3GB A MONTH plan, when you go over it drops to dialup speed. It goes from 300K odd per second down to about 3-6 max. Its shocking.
Still, downloading "stolen" movies etc costs money, surely if you saw someone breaking into a house you would tell the police or at least the owner? Shouldnt the companies be allowed to protect their stuff?
P2P etc has legit uses but cmon, you can hardlly say that its being censored, statistically nobody uses it for legit use! Think of all the songs on an iPod etc, that dont come from cds, you think people buy that music?
right now im on a 3GB plan, not my house, so I have to just deal with it. When I go over the 3GB a month, it drops back to DIALUP speed. IT SUCKS. From around 200K-500K down to 3k down. Instantly.
Of course in NZ etc we go to the ISP's page and it says how much is left. But dont let this happen to you! Tell them to screw their 250GB! God help you if you wake up with a 3GB a month plan, I mean you cant download movies! its hell!
New Zealand where I live is pretty sweet. Our average temperature in my area, Southland, at the bottom of the South Island of the country, is around 10-15 degrees Celsius, thats about 50-something in the american term.
Ok, so farmers are using a large amount of the underground water thats taken "thousands of years" to build up, and so they have droughts, but the normal cities, they are just dandy. We dont have problems with tidal waves or cyclones or anything else that you might think of happening to an island nation, its funny, the Americas have so many of those sorts of things and its a continent. Meanwhile, a couple islands on the way to Antarctica are fine:)
Thank you very much for getting back to me, I have no doubt that it must be just amazing to see a B2 fly overhead:)
Living in NZ we dont really have anything to compare allthough I have seen Steve Ballmers Gulfstream Private Jet fly 10M above my car:) Oh, and we have Richard Stallman giving a talk at a local polytechnic here in Invercargill, population ~50K haha.
Awesome. Id like to have seen an SR-71 take off too, if you read on Wikipedia, they have all kinds of trouble getting off the ground, they need to be jump started, they leak ultra expensive fuel, they fight like hell getting airborn, they have to dive to get any real speed, and then BOOM once they hit a certain speed, they can become the fastest plane ever:)
your post made me smile, im glad you are so impressed with your PSP:)
I cant wait till you get a PS3 though, hehe, games like Metal Gear Solid 4 will really impress you with the theatrics, the long cut scenes, the voice acting etc. It has an epic scene or two and one bit where a main character is dead only to come back again and.....I really dont want to spoil it for you anyway. After the credits there is a simply wonderful scene.
Actually, if you play MGS3 Snake Eater first, its simply wonderful, that game was one of my absolute favourites, its so much better than any action movie, everything in it makes any movie look tame, besides, you are actually "doing it" yourself unlike a movie.
Are you saying that Americans invented the flag? LOL.
I agree with you though, I actually felt dissapointed when I saw my PS3 was made in....SPOILER....China. I mean, I have NOTHING against stuff made in China, I feel awful for the workers, Id love to swap jobs for a day with them, although it would be terrible for them after being in "heaven" to go back to their lives.
BUT I always have had this idea of Japanese made stuff as being basically the best in the world, the best camera lenses, the best quartz watches, the most accurate up to date electronics. To here all this stuff about the PS3 breaking all kinds of barriers, how super Blu Ray is meant to be, HD 1080P, Motion sensing controllers etc etc, then to find it they are churned out like t shirts etc, its just a bit of a dissapointment. Silly I know !:)
not all countries mentioned it in the same way, I didnt watch the opening ceremony because of the time that its on here in NZ (ive heard all kinds of stuff about America bribing the IOC guys to make it at a more "America friendly" time hah) but I sure would be annoyed if they didnt mention it was CG. All you have to do is have some text at the bottom in a readable size "rendered visual of actual fireworks" or something with a simple explanation from the presenters.
When I was little I remember watching the whole lit arrow lighting the torch stunt, I remember noticing something a bit odd about it. Years later I learnt how it was faked and its always stung a little that I was fooled as a kid by something that was pretty special to me at the time:(
Have you ever seen a normal cellphone? Some cheap ones still have screens about a quarter the size of the iPhones. Ive never seen a screen like the iPhones before, some Sony PDA style phones maybe in size and resolution BUT NOT TOUCH SENSING and COVERED IN "scratch proof" GLASS.
I love Apples remote app, its free, you use it to control iTunes on your computer through wifi. I just wish it could stream to the iPhone too, hope thats in the next os bit, under iPhone mode it would have "steamed media" etc. It would be cool if there was a paid service for radio, streaming over 3G/wifi, not that I would use it, but it could be a good idea, kinda like sat radio.
assuming you are a man with a wife, how do you judge women? I would think its much the same as an OS, its about finding the one thats right for you. I dont think there would be many people who couldnt love the iPhone os, but theres plenty who wouldnt like the Blackberry OS (like me). But then again, I can live with not being able to swap the battery out and they cant.
Some of the most "beautiful" women in the world have obvious flaws like a "beauty spot" etc. Its all debatable
Ill just point out , if you want an unlocked iPhone its really not that hard, I bought an original one here in New Zealand months before the 3G one was sold legally here, you couldnt get them before the 3G iPhone, I bought it from a company here www.mob.co.nz who had used a software tool on it (ZiPhone?) and yeah, it just works. I updated my one to 2.0 OS with Pwnage, I hate that it changed the Apple logo on boot to a damn pinapple but am too scared to run the tool in expert mode to take the custom boot images off.
To use the latest Pwnage tool, although it will give you a stupid boot logo, its just download 2.0 in iTunes, DONT INSTALL IT, download 2 files (boot loader things), and the Pwnage tool will put them all together. You will then have an iPhone that works with all the new features and yet can be used on any network worldwide!
I hope you decide to look into it if you do want an iPhone.
ill repost my post here again, try doing that on an exercycle, its much easier, as you are seated rather than moving up and down, left and right , makes headshots in Battlefield: Bad Company easier:P
I cant stress the benefits enough:) I was fat all my childhood, for no particular reason, when I picked up an Exercycle my father had bought and never used. I started off sweating at only 10KM at a time (6 miles?) but got up to doing 80+KM a day (50 miles) for a few months. I still exercycle, am actually sitting on it right now:), and normally aim for roughly 1500 calories a day (63KM) or as much as I have time for.
I got a newer Exercycle, only cost $350 NZ, lets say $300 American, and I have lost an incredible amount of weight, I couldnt be more grateful. And now I dont even notice my feet pedalling at 35+KM an hour, I just read my Wikipedia entries etc that have built up:)
I hope at least one person who would like to lose weight reading this decides to give this a shot:) Its easy, just start with say 10KM a day and work it up over a few months. Good luck!

A Bugs Life is EXCELLENT, Im not sure how to compare it to Toy Story , its very similar to Toy Story but better because instead of the jokes about how toys can be taken apart etc you have living insects with personalities that work together rather than "rebuild" themselves ala transformers to solve problems. Things like the flying insects lifting all the rest of the gang, that was very well done!
Monsters Inc wasnt very good by my standards, I dont think adults would really enjoy it so much. Its more for 5 year olds I would think. Just a girl (who cant yet talk) afraid of a monster, then they go to the monsters world where all the monsters have businesses etc scarying children. Not very good, its quite similar to the story of How The Grinch Stole Christmas.
speaking of Goofiness with MGS4, whats the damn deal with it needing to install for every act EVEN WHEN YOU'VE ALREADY INSTALLED THAT ONE? As in, when I have 10 savegames, of different boss battles/things I want to show friends, If I was last playing ACT 2 and want to show something in ACT 4 then it has to install 4, taking around 3 mins per install, while it deletes 2... I could copy the whole Blu Ray disc to my PS3, its not like its out of room or anything, so why does it delete non current ACT install files?
Its really embarrassing in front of friends, "what, didnt it just show you a smoking guy for 3 mins?"
Think of all the people who steal wifi from their neighbours. Im sure they wont have any quarms slinging an extension cord over the fence to a wall outlet...
I got a Police Scanner just last year, dont use it much at the mo, but it picked up an early Analogue Cordless phone conversation! It was a bunch of "thugs" talking about some "shitbox Chevrolet" and were talking about the rust in it and how crappy Japanese cars are and the usual inbred hick stuff.
Really scary stuff since I had just gotten the scanner and wasnt 100% sure that THEY couldnt hear ME too! They wouldnt be too happy:P
A good one to unbox is the new Wireless Keyboard I think. Its very simple, like a rectangular pizza box, but its just very nice to open and to find the bluetooth keyboard, made out of solid aluminium inside!
I also love the iPhone box, its alongside my 3G iPod box, the G3 iMac shell case, and my beloved Powermac G4 cubes plastic shell!
I still find it funny that there are no equivilant hardware to Apple's, I'm using my 12 inch Powerbook, metal case with that wonderful glowing Apple on the back, I see Compaq have laptops that are similar, cheap feeling plastic with a glowing 'Q' on it!!!! Its goddam awful!

Hey, if they can make a cruise missile, Im sure they can come up with a heatseeking missile/whatever.
Thank you for commenting though.
You have a very good post, just pointing out that its somewhat easy (not really) to take out a plane.
even as a New Zealander, is all the more reason to go Vegetarian :)

number one google search result for "duck quack synthesizer" haha :)

*WOOOSH* LOL I got your joke straight away. Good call :)

you can send SMS (txt messages in NZ speak) from the iPhone address book, go to a contact and tap the option to send them a message :)
