As I understand it the 55mph speed limit is still the most pervasive, and that it was set as a fuel conservation measure. With current cars and arrival expectations, I don't consider that a reasonable maximum limit, especially on a road like I-285 around Atlanta. The listed minimum speed is 40mph, but it's more accurately 65mph or you're a statistic.
I work at Student ITS for our school, and we do free tech support for students. We don't get paid nearly enough for the heroic resurrections of 10 year old computers we perform daily.:)
But people are always amazed when they have a hardware problem, and we tell them that they might as well get some $300 Dell that's light years ahead of their circa 1997 "Valueware" PC than try and swap out Mobo, HD, and power supply.
Man, I can't tell you how many times those floating stars have kept me from getting a ticket. So handy to just dive in an alley and make the police forget about you...
You know, that's a damn good question. You'd think that threatening litigation you (apparently) don't intend to actually prosecute would be at least somewhat illegal. But maybe the lawyers have protected their livelihood well.:)
Mostly off-topic, I think jwz's law of software might have a new result. I read this article about the new NVIDIA drivers, and on this page, I was horrified to discover that NView now offers a Pop-
Up Blocker. I think we need a few more ways to block pop-ups...
True. My Dad still uses WP 6.0 on his computer. Thankfully, the first MS Word-like version, not the Print = Ctrl+Shift+Alt+Pause+F7+F12+Reset+... 5.0 version. He'd probably rather die than upgrade. He also still uses Lotus 1-2-3, r7, I believe. Old habits die hard.
I can see your point, and I can't at the same time. I'd love to see a/. poll on the expectations for Doom III. Probably wouldn't get a lot of "dead horse" type responses. Who thinks StarCraft is crap, just because of "similarities" to WarCraft? Diablo II sold fanatically, and is still played fanatically. You're not forced to buy an expansion pack.
You didn't mention Quake and Half-Life. Again, many sequels and/or expansions, few complaints. Give the people what they want.
As is apparent from the responses, GTA is a much-beloved franchise. By the same arguement, id is beating the Doom and Quake horses to death, Blizzard mutilated the Warcraft corpse, and Valve needs to just let dead Half-Life's lie...
My father owns an HVAC company, and he uses a program called RHVAC to run loads of new and replacement installs, and gives the full report to the customer before they purchase. So not all companies are that bad.:)
Is it just me, or do all these pictures look vaguely more... organic than we're used to? I mean, this as an intermediate step between episodes two and four surprises me.
Profitable industries and large conglomerates suffer from insane amounts of inertia. Thank that these days there's the mitigating factor of elements like the open source community to force innovation in the their staid business models.
Too bad half the time they end up just stealing the ideas, though...:)

Am I the only one who remembers a few exploits that 95/8 were immune to because of innovations in new OSs? I mean, just a little thing like MS.Blaster. Probably didn't make the news...

Last I checked the Supremes worked for Diana Ross, and they were kind of pissed about it.

Seriously. I won't even have a Real plugin on my computer anymore. I think they're worse than most ad/spyware companies, MS included.
... will miss our Gigantic Japanese Reptile Masters.
So when do we get the Mothra spin-off sitcom, and the Gamera E! True Hollywood Story?
So then, would the book be "Beowulf?"

I can see it now. The first virus will be called "Grendal

$1000 in cash? At a truck stop? Worried about government tracking?
:)
Sounds like smugglers to me.

They're also both released on X-Box, so eventually Rockstar gets around to it.

Personally, I think a Lava Lamp-derived random number is pretty cool. Now, if you could just factor in an optimized yo-yo-based algorithm ...
We could get Sting to do it ... it'd be fantastic!

Sorry about that guys. I got it from the Mozilla site originally, but it's been a week or so.
I just use the RSS Reader Panel for Firefox.

Don't worry though. Everything will be fully functional by the time "XP Revolutions" is released, right?

Probably not, according to this subversive gentleman. :)
