I'll will state non-anonymously that I will not buy another iphone for the exact same reasons. I'll go back to the multiple devices I used to have before the iphone when this one dies. Are there any other phones out there with as good a browser? Maybe the wife would like my iphone.
I don't know about your locale, but around here, at the local landfill, before you actually get to the place where you dump junk, there is a large shed where you are free to drop anything that still works. You are likewise free to take anything there that you like. I remember going up there one day and dropping off about a half dozen monitors, a few old computers and some printers, including a full SGI Indy set-up with Presenter. I labelled each as to what it was and just left it... while I was there, I saw this cool rather large fisher price easel, which was in fantastic condition, but too big to fit in my car, so I dropped my stuff, went home to get the minivan and drove back, about 15 minute round trip, and by the time I got there, all the computer stuff I had dropped off was gone. I took the easel home, hosed it off, and put it outside for the kids to play with. Everybody wins. Someone got some aging, but still usable computer gear, and my kids got a toy that I did not have to buy.
but along with the net being a fantastic low cost music distribution network, the social aspects of the net can also remove the need for the industry as filter. It is correct that I do not have time to sift through the garbage, but some of my friends with similar music tastes might. Social Networking might be the way around the need for filtering.
so are we now able to remove this completely useless section of the brain then. I've always though that optimistic people had something wrong with them and now that this diseases portion of the brain has been islolated it can hopefully be removed allowing those previously affli ted by optimi to lead more productive lives.
Creative makes a 60GB Zen Vision:M. Plays way more formats than the iPod. Had one since about a month after they came out. Have never regretted the purchase.
As long as they only float and do not move. Flying was featured prominently in Windows XP ads, and is patented by Microsoft. While Apple can not offer this, I hear that Novel might be implementing it for Suse 11
No, for Oingo you need dead man's party.... One of their best..... and most people will actually recognize it once it starts, unlike the majority of their stuff
What platform do you use? I use a Linux laptop and IE 6 works fine for me (ies4linux). I doubt the files will actually work if I did download them, since they are likely WMV format, but that is not their fault. I choose to use a Linux system.
That is not "Normal Windows".... I have a desktop in my home office, a laptop for the wife and kids, one that I use for school and my work laptop....All run XP, all of them always have, Except for the work laptop which is only a few months old, they have all been runnning XP since it came out. None of them have ever blue screened. I installed Opera as a browser in the beginning, Firefox in the last few years. I do not install crap. I've never had a virus, and I've never had a problem. Why have I had such wonderful luck, because I have a clue. Yes, I have 2 linux boxes as well, and I use them frequently as dev servers, but my windows boxes are rock solid. They download necessary updates in the background and tell me when they have them, then, when convenient (like when I am heading to bed or off to work), I tell it to go ahead and install and restart if necessary.
A better idea might have been to try to sell 200,000 at $200. For $200 I might have bought one, used it as an eBook reader or some such, but for $300, I could buy a high powered PDA for that purpose. I know, this is a full computer, not a PDA, but for an eBook reader, the PDA is great with an even smaller form factor... I already own laptops. I do not own a good eBook reader. Had it been $200, I would have bought one, and they would have had one to donate, instead someone on eBay got $150 of my money for a PDA with a VGA screen.
for decent speech synthesis, take a look at AT&T Natural Voices and the voices by NeoSpeech. You can say what you will about anything open source, but in this case, you really get what you pay for... I get a headache listening to most speech engines say anything other than the occasional alert. I have had both of these engines read entire books from Gutenberg into MP3s that I have listened to in the car. The original post was correct that this speech synthesis is not better than Microsoft's Mary which is really no better than SAM (the Software Activated Mouth) that I had on my Commodore 64 back in 1984, but ATTNV and Neospeech are light years ahead.
I am old enough to remember city streets in places with overhead power lines for this. Its ugly. Why? I get 500 miles on a tank of gas (13.5 gallons and 29 miles to the gallon) so why not just let me pull into a service station, which now takes almost 5 minutes for a full tank, and plug in... charge me $20 for the charge, make the 100% profit ($9 for the elec, $9 profit, 2$ to cover overhead)... I end up better off they end up better off (distribution now done by the existing power lines, no need for trucks) and eventually, when we figure out how to make electricity cleaner (or convert part of of grid to wind or water turbine or whatever) the environment would be better off. Sounds like a win/win/win situtation
All of the armor plated iPOds would be stolen within 15 minutes, leaving an exposed Bradley, which would be stolen, hidden, stripped and sold for parts in the other 45.
no, you only have to deal wiht plays for sure if you subscribe to a service like rhapsody... I open yahoo music engine, select my songs and drag them to the icon, and they transfer fine... Id you instlal Media player 10, it installs the MTP driver/subsystem, and you can drag files directly to the Zen Vision:M without Creative's software... I don't remember the last time I ran it. Perhaps its just problems with the sleek.
according to the FAQ on their site, the movie beam box contains a 160GB hard drive. It also says that it has a 200MHz processor.... fairly low spec machine.
they don't REALLY live 12 years longer, it just feels like it.

The Gom Jabbar is the needle she held at his throat, not the box.

Its a simple equation.
e * employees_affected)) / number_of_hours_per_period.
/400 = 396/400 = 99% productive
productive_hours_per_period = ((number_of_hours_per_period * number of employees) - (number_of_hours_computers_are_down_or_unavailabl
10 employees, a full week, only one person looses computer access for 4 hours
productive hours = (40*10) - (4*1) / 40 = 400-4
perfectly reasonable

That's not troubling at all..... to a Klingon

precisely why they do not care about what browser you use.

Had you not pointed it out, we would have thought it was a joke.
Sometimes it is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.
