I guess were witnessing reality news for the masses. If there wasn't an audience for fox news, they'd been gone long ago. I know from standing in the grocery lines however that National Enquirer draws its own crowd of gullible lamers. Fox news has basically capitalized on that but in real-time.
Now Iran has a justifiable reason for whatever retaliation they had in mind anyway. If you're going to do stuff like this, getting caught isn't an option. Nice job derps.
Buying into the "Walled garden == Security" philosophy doesn't cut it because you have no way to VERIFY things haven't been tampered with. You just "believe" they haven't been. Unless you jail break/root you can't be sure because you have no access. That makes it just as un-trustworthy as a trac-fone you found in the gutter. You might as well just use cyanogen, root it, get an sha1sum of everything on the device and have a way to track changes. Feeding Apple all your $$ while drinking all their "walled garden koolaid" is just going to get the industry another monopoly
In the end, the easiest thing is to pay a one-time fee of $99 to MS and have them sign a mini-bootloader that can start up grub. That doesn't sound like such a big deal to me.
Aaaaaand... this is precisely where the control of the keys lies. No, $99 is not a big deal for Redhat. Trusting M$ won't "Ooops, lol.. guess we borked your key sign just before you had that big competing product release. Gee, sorry. We'll get that fixed right away."
Yes, because everyone knows a vanity TLD is much more secure than a measly.com - what a lame-ass excuse to apply for a vanity domain. Typical Baronism.
Corn syrup and sugar are[1]. SO, if you want to curb obesity, it's pointless to take out only soda. Even fruit juice[2] contains levels of concentrated sugars which cause all sorts of problems. Yes, even juices without added sugar. Candy bars, licorice, gooey sweets -- most anything you can find in a convenience store is going to be just as bad, if not worse than soda.
Also, many of the products containing corn syrup are made from extracts of the same corn used for large scale meat production; engineered to put on lots of pounds quickly. Corn syrup (and many corn products) are simply a blatant disregard for people's health in many ways.
First of all, 1,300 employers Doesn't seem like that is an accurate representation of 49% of the entire US IT workspace. I wonder who funded the study, Koch Bros?
FTFA: "Forty-nine percent of US companies are having a hard time filling what workforce... The group surveyed some 1,300 employers" um, wtf?
What's more: The Skilled Trades left the workforce when the USA shipped all of it's manufacturing tooling processes overseas in the mid 90s. The Engineers and Machinists had to find other ways to make a living. I'm not surprised you cannot find anyone to do it now.
IT Staff, Secretaries, Sales and Accounting were some of the first jobs to be cut following the housing/banking crash in mid/late 2000's.
Teachers rely pretty heavily on Unions to make their jobs worth the pay. No, I don't mean the Scott Walker 6-figure income district vice-superintendent pencil pusher, I mean the first grade teacher making $40k/year with a class of 20 kids. Tea Party is putting an end to the unions, so don't count on good teachers being available any time soon.
I can only conclude that basically companies are just planting RIM hate and RIM
It's not that diabolical. The press is just magnifying the generalized "shruggs" of the industry when the subject of RIM comes up. RIM has waited far too long to try and resuscitate their potential. They've been very adamant about any kind of radical change and seem convinced they can continue to do foolish things (releasing their fondleslab and *then* nixing it's Android support) and remain on life support with tax dollars from government contracts. In the end, they will probably file chapter 11 and leave the debt with the US taxpayers.
Just a guess, but this may indeed foster a fair amount of distaste for RIM.
Mac has done well is avoiding the exact problem the OP describes
That's a typical misconception. Apple puts together a very pretty package and basically dictates what you will run, how you will run it, what you can do with it, and where you can do it. There are a whole new set of problems with mac, and if you are quite limited as to what you can do software-wise. You will still have software problems. You still have viruses. You still have software problems with upgrades. People still need to search some forum from time-to-time to figure out how to fix some strange new issue. Ever try and build something from Ports only to have it *not* friggin work when you upgrade? Yeah, same issues. It's not a perfect world that everyone seems to imply. Don't get me wrong, Apple has gone to great lengths to make the use experienced top-notch, but it still has it's problems just like Windows, Linux and FreeBSD. I get really tired of people making it out to be some trouble-free system when it's not.
The US Patent office, MPAA an RIAA are collaborating together to find a means of "litigate to mitigate" to keep Russia from developing their space program further. Spokesman from the MPAA has stated their strategy is to tie up the russians in court so they have no time to work on the moonbases.
NASA was unavailable for comment as their phone number has apparently been disconnected. A reply from someone at the "Contact Us" area of the NASA website stated that their phone number is indeed active, but they've been removing all the phone wire from the walls in order to subsidize funding for the Curiosity mission.
In other news, the Deptartment of Defense has posted a record $707.5 billion 2012 budget citing the need for more ways to cleverly kill people without anyone knowing.
FTFA: "a bicycle for your mind". The tires are huge to support the weight. Overall too heavy to pedal. I need to trailer it everywhere. Due to copyright restrictions, I can only ride^H^H trailer it around Oracle's campus unless I agree to a 5 year license based on the number spokes on the wheels and size of the tires. I can pull off one wheel to save money, but then I need to purchase the 10-year license instead of the 5.
For corporate traffic, Don't put a box in between that traffic. If it fails, everything is down. Get a TAP, as you hinted, but make sure to get one that fails 'open'. Then, run Ntop off the TAP port. If the TAP burns up, or port goes bad, you still have network access.
It sounds like your "client" is just wanting to basically monitor on his family, so in that case, get a 10/100 HUB (not a switch) to stick downstream of your modem. Plug in your linux box on port 1, and the router/modem into port 2. Don't put anything else on it because.. it's a hub. Run Ntop on the linux box.
One-half of one penny of every tax dollar. That's what the NASA budget is. We spend an assload more money on trying to kill people than we do planning for the future of the human race. On top of the measly NASA budget, we still have to outsource most of our space program.

That percentage sounds more like a sickening thud than a mad dash.

I know it's hard to believe, but RIM is a Canadian company.

Note to US: let someone else try and police the mess this time.

I ditched my G/F, bought a second flat panel, and can play Diablo III while watching pr0n at the same. What's the problem again?

Surely VP of SAP doesn't need to be doing that?

Some of, but not all of, Chrome is open-source. You really want that transparency in a web browser these days. Use Chromium instead.
Yes, a SPAN port would work as well but most home users don't have that option.

Did you know the US spends more on the military's Air Conditioners than the entire NASA budget? http://gizmodo.com/5813257/air-conditioning-our-military-costs-more-than-nasas-entire-budget.
How much worse can this all get?
Much, much worse. Of course, it's very simple to put and end to. Just stop patronizing the worst offenders... but nobody wants to do that.
Gasoline. Because we still have glaciers.
