    At least in my home county, the 3-5 closest township fire departments are volunteer-only. They get some nominal funding via levies for equipment and operating expense. 911 is handled at the county level, and as such needs to be funded county wide, as opposed to eacy city, village, or township.

    Most townships won't have enough operating budget to run 911 - they have a hard enough time attempting to funding schools...

    Of course, this is just my experience, YMMV, etc. etc.

    If you don't need your gadget, you can get it cheaper there (usualy with minimal shipping charges) and no state+county sales tax.

    you can always just disable the use of Stop-A on a Sun as well. Keeps you from having to break the fingers of "power" users that think that rebooting suns is a natural thing to do.

    Well, your uni needs to talk to a different reseller. I work in a different market segment that deals primarily with resellers (GSA market) I've had no problem getting quotes on just one workstation - I've even had resellers fight for the lowest price. I've also dealed with Sun directly via the education program to purchase a
    SB-100 - again no problems.

    Different conditions for different markets, I guess
