i think you'll find that any rectangle can easily scale to "4-up". It's the "2-up" scaling that is in any way an interesting property.

The big thing to come from this was an exploration into the golden ratio. One of the guys they talked to in it made up a "mask" made up of triangles where side lengths were at the golden ratio, in the general shape of a face. Then they put this mask over images of beautiful people (with whom the mask lined up well) and ugly people (where the mask has no correlation to the face).
Of course I suppose this is highly dependant on the mask that was chosen, but as a heuristic at the very least it demonstrates the computability of beauty.
We were doing a computer studies project, which was writing a game. Because we were writing this on PCs and not the Macs that were in the comp labs at the time we needed to work in the library.
Lo and behold, we were kicked out of the library for playing games, despite the fact we were writing it. Not one to pass up an opportunity, we popped out to mcdonalds for the rest of the period:) In retaliation later we changed the system font from System to Runic. They thought it was a virus.
And why should a student weak in math be encouraged to pursue it? Let him focus whatever talents he has in other areas. I, for example, am hopeless when it comes to math, but was always strong in English and decent at visual arts. Good for you. I sucked at decomposing shitty stories, writing essays on how characters changed in a narrative and crapping out stories pretending to be a cicada (none of which is useful in my everyday language usage btw), but i was forced to do English all through high school. In NSW you don't even need to do any maths in your final year of high school, but lordy you must do english!

Seriously, why do people fear change so much? The new Office design is much better than any previous version, in my opinion. No more hunting around in nested menus trying to find features - everything is right there in plain sight. Sure, there's a learning curve, but is it really so steep? Exactly the argument i give when people continually whine at me about Mac OS X
That said, the largest cheer was for "redundant power supplies" in the xserve. Maybe they should have saved that one untill last to give the show a bit of a climax.

most of the western european languages have some sort of anglo-saxon background, so for me to learn them would not be hard. But if I were from asia (the majority of humans are) the structure and everything is totally different
you'll actually find that English is grammatically one of the heardest languages languages to learn as a second language (For the exact reason as stated). The only reason Japanese / Chinese are considered the hardest is because of the uber-large character set.
I'm seeing a direct parallel to those old handheld computer game "consoles" from about 10 to 15 years ago. You all know the ones, so I have one simple question.
Will I be able to play that King Kong game thing? Catching people or things flying out of windows is just my thang.
how can you not consider useful the appendage that provides personal entertainment, a sightly bulge in many a pant, AND carries fluid wastes from the body keeping it at least 3 or 4 inches away from the body proper at all times? (unless you pee on your leg...)

at high school we had a majority of macs actually, and these were often upgraded and replaced. IIRC we actually had a lab of dual processor G4s when i left. oh, and all the staff were given laptops, many of which were powerbooks as opposed to the dell alternative.
now, at UNSW, all the computers in CSE are debian boxes, so im onw in heaven. i use a powerbook around uni, and i have to say the greatest thing about it is that i can do anything that i would otherwise do on a lab computer over wireless network and X forwarding. best ever.
If there was any documentation outlining that this promotion would continue until 2010, Telecom would have been obliged to maintain this rate until the end of 2010.
As i believe it here in Australia, phone companies are only allowed to change the cost of their services to existing customers if it becomes less than or equal to the pricing scheme set out in the signed contract. eg, if i sign up on a $15 a month plan, they can change that to a $10 plan, and then back to a $15 plan, but not to a $15.01 plan.
A friend of mine is being hassled by her phone company to switch to a new plan, simply because her existing one is cheaper, and according to the phone company "not nearly as good".
in other words its a long string of bits flash on the screen
then it can be reviewed and rejected by robots, revenue received over the internet, spent in online shops by the director-robots for more robot software written by other robots, who then take that income and feed their robot children.
It's not only men that are redundant now, humans in general are...
but if they died out within hours of the impact, all that is flowery talk and hand waving.
unless the dinosaurs WERE stressed out pretty badly, and all suffered heart attacks at the same time, or stomach ulcers as all the stress-releif balls sold out pretty quickly or were looted...
is it just me, or does the image of a bunch of various dinosaurs in a meeting discussing ways to reduce stress in a workplace environmentseem oddly comical yet realistic?
