  1. Re:Lame on Study Says No Future for Video iTunes · · Score: 1

You're right, the competing options suck, for now, but this is more about the future. They're betting that sites like NBC.com will wise up provide more viewer friendly services for free, undercutting the iTunes video market.

The thing is, Apple is nimble, and while networks might begin to rise to the challange, I don't think Jobs & co. are going to just give up. I do agree that If iTunes Video fails to compete it's going to fall. I think the problem with the article is that it assumes that Apple can't or won't compete. Since when did journalists know a damn thing about what Apple is capable of?

Wow a whole dollar, good job. You had dual monitors running for how long and the only thing you were using them for was to have IM and Word open on seperate monitors?

There are some really productive and legitimate uses for dual monitors that in the end save you much more than a dollar in productivity.

A couple of examples of how I use dual monitors:
    - Browsing coding/troubleshooting forums in one winow and working in the other, this way I can look at my code and compare it to the examples with out having memorize information before swapping between programs.
    - Macromedia Flash, Illustrator, Photoshop, all of these have movable tool winows that I put on my second monitor so I can see the project I'm working on without all the clutter.

Recently I was browsing www.suprnova.org for obscure torrents in their misc area, and I found this "ebook" on how to win texas hold 'em. I downloaded it hoping that it was some kind of strategy guide or an odds list or something
turns out it was just some product promotion for a company that makes gambling bots.
I downloaded the software trial out of curiosity (I've never played online poker before, I just wanted to see how the program was set up.)

The way it worked (or claimed to, I never tried it) it would monitor my poker game and make calculations based on other people's bids checks or folds and give me tips about whether I should fold, check, bid, or bid high. It kept a percentage rating for probability of wining and stuff like that.
Basically it claimed to play the game for me, which would suck as I was looking for a strategy guide instead. I can't remember which one it was that I downloaded.

In summary, music file sharers are demanding a business model that:
    1. * Allows them to preview high-quality, full length songs in the privacy of their homes
      * Gives them time to let the music grow on them
People make these demans about $15 cds, but there are software packages out that that cost $500 plus where the same demand applies.
Alias has understood these demands and released the PLE (personal learning edition) where people can use an impressive (slightly crippled) version of their $2,000 + software package.
If Adobe would get the message it would be great to have decent learning versions of their software for free.
