I REALLY should have worded myself better. =( My complaint was not with the title, nor the article itself but the description. I'm just sick of people claiming that digital storage is somehow equivelent to the way the brain stores information.

I can't agree more, but I doubt people who are brought up these days (the new school) would appreciate the older sonic games. I've played and completed the newer ones, without any satisfaction whatso ever. Also, what ever happened to the sonic cartoons in the morning. Those were so good compared to the crap they've got now.

I've been a long time fan of id software games, and I have to say playing Doom 3 brought back happy memories. I recognised some level designs from both Doom and Doom II. Though I could just be going insane... =)

I especially liked the mars surface parts, which reminded me of the marathon series by bungie. The spider like things on the surface, while you're running out of air was an excellent touch. The ambient music was quite original too.

I don't know if this is the best game you guys have ever made, because I'm so attached to the older ones, but it's the best game I've played in a long time. It's pretty much the only game that a fellow physicists where I work were talking about. (big Doom fans I take it)

Thank you and everyone else at id software for the effort involved in bringing this fantastic game to us. I'm sure there's a lot of people wishing you luck on your next project. But not me ... how the hell am I going to write my thesis now? Damn you id sofware! =)

(well, had fun watching myself get gibbed every few seconds. But nonetheless ...) These days if the frame rate drops below 90fps for a second or two, a background task immediatly opens up formatting the harddrive while the gamer drives away to buy the parts for a complete system upgrade. 24. Re:Sveasoft is a unique situation on Is Sveasoft Violating the GPL? · · Score: 2, Interesting

If you cannot comply with the GPL, there is a very simple alternative. Don't use GPLed software as the base of what you're writing.

Sveasoft can make all the fancy inhouse modifications they like but the moment they want to redistribute/sell it they MUST comply with the license that came with it (i.e. the GPL).

Failure to do so, is breaking copyright law (since the GPL uses this to enforce it's ideals). Now I realise that they offer the source code for a "reasonable" price, but their subscription crap pretty much takes out the spirit of the original agreement. So when their software gets forked [shortly], they can whing all they like to no effect.

Remember, YOU may not mind them doing this, and in reality it probably wont effect you much if at all. But someone somewhere, will want to make their own redistributable modifications to this. Sveasoft is making that just that little bit more difficult for them.
