Couldn't you make the argument that enticing an inmate with pirated movies is cruel and unusual punishment to an inmate that was convicted of pirating movies?
Wouldn't it be the same if they lock up an inmate for drug use, and then offered him the same drugs while in prison?
Harsh as the OP is, I believe thats more of a reaction to a completely fabricated story here. If there truly is a such a problem, then why would there be a need to invent scare statistics?
Free Geek looks to be a pretty impressive operation though. I wonder if something like that would be successful on the east coast.
Wow. Thanks for the insight. If only you could have been around to honor us with your knowledge a few years ago.
My wife routinely ate peanut butter during her first pregnancy but our child still has a peanut allergy. Maybe you should specify that it is the 'crunchy' variety everyone needs and not the 'smooth' that my wife prefers.
The recent (the 2000's) Stern titles aren't that great. (Although the word is that some of their newer titles are actually pretty good)
The pinballs that could be considered the "golden age" seems to be the ones you are disparaging. Anything Bally/Williams from the 90's is now highly sought after by both the collectors and the players (which I guess could be the same)
Had some friends visit the states from Thailand recently. We live in a city heavily dependent upon cars and thus spent a lot of time driving around town. One of the comments they made after looking out the window at the traffic was "All the cars are new!"
I've had my laptop searched by customs (after a flight from Thailand - and no sleep). The guards are very good at intimidating and pressuring you into doing what they want. They required me to log them into windows and upon finding a USB drive in my bag, they said something to the effect of "I'm going to need to see that". They most definitely gave the impression that they had the rights to search every piece of data I had.
All in all, they did nothing more than a Start->Search->*.jpg. (and kept my bootlegged copy of Vista.)
/. would fucking bury the AP if they tried that shit here, so the answer is of course to go after someone with less means to defend them selves, get a couple of good precedents on record THEN go after the big boys. Methinks you aren't that familiar with the Drudge Report. It is most definitely one of the 'big boys'
yea.. except that in the past year Nintendo has manufactured and sold more Wii consoles than any other video game console (in the same time frame). They're building and selling more than anyone ever has.
Kind of hard to claim a shortage when you actually look at the sales numbers.
I live near Gores Nashville house and drive past it every day.
He spent a *ton* of money improving the efficiency of his house recently. For close to a month, he had enough workers at his house, that there were traffic mamagers routing the traffic on the (normally empty) street in front of his house. I don't know exactly what he was doing, but with the manpower and large equipment he had, it could only have been substantial. He wasn't adding any square footage - it looked like he dug directly down under his driveway (there was a small LEET sign from one of the contractors in the front yard so I can only assume geo-thermal heating/cooling)
Whatever he did, it must have cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. Nothing that a 'regular' citizen could have afforded.
And, for the record his claim to us CF light bulbs at his house is total bullshit. Drive by sometime and check out the spotlights lighting up his entire yard at all hours of the night.
"Since I've never, nor do I ever intend to set foot in a Disney theme park"
A Disney theme park is one of the few places where you can still see and experience some of W Disney's orignial visions. Its a shame you seem to have confused the man with today 's corporate empire. The man was one of the most influential artist of all time.
If anything, you should go now while you can still see glimpses of the original. I'm sure someones been itching to turn the "Carosel of Progress" into a Buzz Lightyear music video.
"Can anybody name a popular band in the last 5 years that they think they are going to be listening to in 10 years time? what about 50 years?"
Well of course. I'd say Wilco, The Flaming Lips, and Outcast are 3 popular bands that both put out true 'albums' and will certainly still be listenable in 10 years.
This is true. Compared to other systems, the VISTA system operates very well for physicians at VA hospitals.
Its also open sourced -- so why don't the other EHR take advantage of that??
My wife is a doctor as well and I can assure you, physicians have no clue how to properly price medical services.

I've got nearly 16TB at home and know a number of people who have nearly the same as well.
Here's a hint - DVDs are nearly a twenty year old standard. Movies these days are stored with 1080p quality and can easily be 10gigs each.
Beyond that, I keep all of my home movies in uncompressed format. That and pictures and can quickly eat up a lot of space.

He did a one-off follow up to Connections recently, but other than that I don't know of anything.
its exactly what it is. August is a month long vacation for large portions of Europe.
Its good time to visit Paris .. most of the French are gone.
Same here.
I just receive a Galaxy Nexus this week. Wasn't aware of the tape seal in the one corner, so at first I could get the box open!
then, once I cut the tape, I finally pulled the top off only to then have the phone tumble out of the box and fall to the ground.
Wasn't a great "first" experience.
Having the zip code does not mean you have the city and state.
While it does give you a good starting point to make an assumption, zip codes do not necessarily follow state and county lines.

Similar story.

Very interesting system you have in place. Thanks
Interestingly enough, my mother (a little old grandmother) has been spit on by muslim men.
I've been burned so many times purchasing games that I've vowed to never purchase another PC game.
Dropping $50-$60 bucks only to to have title still full of bugs, or a game that just plain sucks has happened far too many times to me.
Thats interesting, I didn't realize that.

Like the D-pad novelty, the shoulder button novelty, and the analogue stick novelty??
The only thing cyclical is Nintendo pushing the market/possibilities in new directions and everyone else following.

You must be from Canada if you think France was somehow the underdog before Germany invaded.

I think maybe your just dating yourself!
Anyone else think this write-up is a little lacking. Its as if the author has barely mastered 9th grade English...
"This book gave me enough detail to talk about it."
"I don't want to say I could not put the book down, because I could."
I would expect this level of writing at Digg, but I've come to expect better at Slashdot....
