    Asking the opinion of someone who thinks AI can be compared with a simple mechanism like a telephone is a waste of time. Having a CEO title, even of a company like Google, doesnâ(TM)t convey expert knowledge of abstruse technical concepts.
    Elon anticipates the worst because humanity has without exception shown that it can and will find the absolute worst things that can be done with any technology. Expecting that to change for AI is Pollyanna-thinking.

    MS ought to have realized by now that they need to just throw away any even-numbered releases. The only numbered releases that have not been failures due to function or usability have all been odd-numbered (assuming you forget about all versions before Windows 3.1). And just skipping the even numbers won't work because it's the ideas in the even releases that are failures.
    Though perhaps it might be that MS needs the every-other-version beatings to actually produce decent versions?

    is a definite issue here. FTA, it took 3(?) months to get 5 gallons. Also, FTA, they expect to be able to scale up to an installation that can produce 1 ton of petrol (gasoline?) a day. With 1 gallon of gasoline weighing approx. 5.87 lbs (US, natch), this gives a whopping output of: 340 gallons per day So, move along, nothing to see here.

    Then you don't know what constitutes a bomb in the eyes of the studio execs.

    If it doesn't make at least double the budget in the US release alone, then it is a bomb.

    The only exceptions from their standpoint are the small-gross, tailor-made, Oscar-bait films.

    There is no way that a) Downey is going to agree to doing an ensemble picture as a bit player after headlining 2+ Iron Man movies, or b) That the studio is going to spring for the big money it would take to hire him, just for an ensemble role in a risky new franchise.

    When you say Downey would not do a bit-player role, you make an unwarranted assumption that there will be an Iron Man 3. Don't be so sure of that. Judging by the trailers for Iron Man 2, it is going to suck ass, big time. If so, IM 3 will be shit-canned and the studio will be more than happy to throw Downey into an ensemble role to recoup some of the outlay.
