    This is Facebook we're talking about. They could have offered to charter a jet to take him where he needed to go if missing his flight was a possibility from long negotiations.

    Yeah, Facebook caved over an airline ticket cost.

    Yeah, that and it wasn't as though there were other parties lining up to throw $19B at him. Facebook could probably have "lowballed" him at $15B and still closed the sale.

    No, I really have no use for the camera part. I perfer s SLR. My question is more what apps are out there?

    Unless you're intending to develop applications for it,
    I'm also going to hazard a guess that you could spend the money on other more fun (and/or useful) stuff.

    DSLR Lenses, VR headsets, 3D Printers, alcohol and Cryptocurrency mining come first to mind...

  3. Depends on the risk/reward analysis. Would you take a "double your lottery win or go to prison for 3 years" gamble? I wouldn't.

    I think your estimate for the black market price of an exploit of this type might be way, way too low.

    I don't see why the service can't be price controlled.

    They could retain the current mailing rates for mail that is collated and dispatched only once a week, and introduce a new rate that is 5 - 10 times higher for mail that needs to be delivered in a 1 - 3 day timespan.

    I haven't received time sensitive snail mail (packages and parcels excluded of course) in years.

    Yeah I went looking for the plugin before reading the article. It's not available yet.

    It's probably just a concept at the moment, and someone will probably code and release a plugin that does this or worse to advertisers before she releases hers in September.

    Actually too many humans staying OUTSIDE of the United States of America are as fucking stupid as those who stay inside.

    Many of the "stupid cowardly" humans staying outside of the USA unfortunately don't have constitutional rights that are anywhere near as cool as those that Americans enjoy.

    When a phone is stolen, another phone gets purchased. Reducing phone thefts will cut into new phone sales!

    Actually this isn't necessarily true. If they started disabling or blacklisting stolen phones via IMEI or other kill switch.

    Then it would leave both the victim and the thief without phones and thus give you 2 potential sales instead of just 1.

    Maybe it is because Seymour Cray died in 1996 of complications from a automobile accident. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seymour_Cray I would think that most people who have a passing interest in supercomputer would have known that fact. Seymour Cray did a lot of work in establishing the supercomputers. I can remember seeing his supercomputers on the cover of Popular Science back in the 70's. I think he deserves a little more respect than shown here by that remark.

    I meant no disrespect to Seymour Cray, I just didn't think the company was still all that relevant any more.

    Just because you're not in the target audience, doesn't mean there aren't fun games on a platform.

    An example we were given in my Intro to Stats module once upon a time used the Space Shuttle Program.

    The numbers following the decimal point are very important when it might mean the difference between a Space Shuttle failing catastrophically instead of leaving / returning through the atmosphere intact.

    And the vast differences in manufacturing costs between a 99.9%, 99.99% and 99.999% fault tolerant component and why
    it would be necessary in the bigger picture of the complete system.
