They're using us to identify our own home and business addresses, does anyone else feel a little violated by this?
Could just be me being paranoid, but this sounds like something out of a science fiction book. Whoever had the idea to do this, I have to admit, was really using their head though.
You left out the part where another contractor designs another version of said pigeons and undercuts this contractor with an inferior product because they had the lowest bid and then the people that awarded the bid to the cheaper contractor are left wondering why the cheaper pigeons are falling from the skies and killing innocent citizens.
This is the problem with the "war or terror". There is no end, the US government will never be able to declare a victory over this enemy. This plays right into their grand scheme of things, they have a free pass to do whatever they want anywhere in the world and the perfect terrorist attack to justify it.
This is why you will never see a real investigation into the events of September 11th, if there were ever any highly publicized cracks in the story of what happened that day it would bring down the entire house of cards.
I wonder if this is how the infection that causes the zombie apocalypse will start, I know it has to start with some scientists doing shit they shouldn't be doing in the first place and bringing back an extinct species we have no need for sounds as good as any.
Am I the only one wondering why the hell this is a real project? Do we really need this species back that bad that we are willing to genetically engineer one back into existence?
Facebook.... well, Mark Zuckerberg, kind of deserves this. It's well known he stole Facebook from several people. Sure he wrote the code, but he was paid to write Facebook. Yes I know Paul and the twins ended up losing their lawsuit, but just because they couldn't afford to fight a billion-dollar legal team doesn't mean they're wrong.
Is Yahoo's lawsuits just karma catching up with Mark?
No, it's a ton of lawyers making tons of money by going after another ton of lawyers. Mark will not give one fuck, he's made his money.
I feel I need to also point out that these games sold back then were also a physical good that once you purchased you owned everything necessary to play that game all the way to the end and you could even re-sell said game when you got tired of it for a price that wasn't terrible.
Inflation does come into play big time, but the way games are delivered to the customer is really pissing a lot of people off, me being one of them. Today when you buy a game you're actually just purchasing the product key for that game. I have not went through it myself as of yet, but I can only imagine the nightmare scenario where I have to explain my hard drive (in my PC or PS3) has had a hardware failure and trying to talk to a company that is no longer supporting a particular game into helping me get my game back. Not even sure I would want to subject myself to that kind of torture.
I guess what I am trying to say is that times have changed drastically and this whole idea of the cloud kind of worries me, I want to purchase something I can hold in my hands. If I can't hold it in my hands, I want to at least know that I can use that same code to reinstall the game that I purchased on my computer or the computer I later own after I upgrade. Is that being unreasonable? Am I asking too much as a customer? Discuss...
I just think that a lot of people grab onto that word and use it without knowing what the hell it actually means. I guess the same could be said for any word though, for some reason whenever I hear obamacare it is usually coming out of the mouth of some idiot that only uses it because he saw some pundit on a major media network using it to slam Obama.
The same thing could be said with any presidency, there is always some catch-phrase or slogan that ends up paraphrasing an administration. I see your point in it being easier to use these words rather than a long drawn out bill name, i just get tired of hearing them I guess. I have to hand it to you for even seeing my comments, I was sure it would be buried. I still don't know why the OP got modded down, but perhaps I will never know.
This is offtopic, but I couldn't have said it better myself. If only I had a mod point to give and hadn't already posted in this topic. Keep fighting the good fight while everyone else is asleep.
Why did this get modded down? Just asking a real question, if it was because he used the term "Obamacare" I can certainly side with people who hate that word. I think he raises a relevant question here.
We certainly see it with the banking industry, the bank CEO's get jobs at the treasury. This shit is happening far too often and I see it as the number one problem we face, big business running our government.
Okay, you got me on that. I was just trying to point out that there are good moral people and complete ass hat evil fucks in all organizations. Greed is a powerful thing and it is always around even when you least expect it. It just rubs me the wrong way when someone only points out the negative side of a group or organization when there are arguments going both ways.
There are good and bad people inside of ever organization and to always point out the negative side of things is playing right into the PR machine's hands. Have you ever seen a news story about the CP websites they have helped bring down? Of course not.
Read all streams of news even if they are sometimes referred to or labelled as crazy. I would rather be over informed and make my own opinion than under informed and have my opinion made up for me.
The following is not my stance.
It does a couple things:
1. It shows there are alternatives to piracy so that "I have no alternative" isn't valid anymore.
2. #1 allows legislatures to lay down laws that are harsh since there are alternatives.
3. It's a labor intensive process that will make someone say why bother my time is worth more. Then the option of buying through some internet portal is made available at slightly higher price than conversion. win - win.. right?!?
4. profit off the docile and persecute the unbelievers.
And the real motive behind this is exposed. Bravo! I can only assume that a whole army of lawyers and consultants came up with this at a huge house in the Bahamas that one of them owns while drinking twenty year old scotch and smoking cubans.
The reasons for me to boycott this industry are just piling up.
Okay, you've convinced me that I may have been thinking a little backwards on that one. I guess I have a bigger problem with how you have to purchase extra licensing to play them online on a different console. The way they are requiring additional purchases for games that are bought second hand is straight up robbery in my mind.
Thank you for offering your point which did cause me to alter my opinion a bit.
Yeah I commented on that story too. My only comment was titled "The old saying..." I then said "If you want something done right, do it yourself. A lot of wisdom there."
In other words, if you don't own or obtain a physical copy of whatever it is, it does not exist. The cloud is a joke and a grand illusion so that your private info is eventually readily available online somewhere. Hard to see when you're on the inside looking out.
This entire comment sums up why I am done purchasing any new video games until the industry goes back to the "Goods" way of thinking, and with the way the MPAA and RIAA have been I've been boycotting them as well. The final straw for me was when I took my old PS3 Madden video games into gamestop for trade in value on the next year's version and they gave me $0.75 for 2010 and 2009. FUCK that shit.
If I am only going to get less than a dollar of trade in value on what I initially thought was purchased as "goods" for about $65 then I am now going to refuse to do business with an industry that only sees us as sheeple put on earth to make them money. The days of actually feeling pride in your work and building a working relationship with your customer is not dead but it is on life support this very day. Take customer feedback serious, work to develop a quality product and allow people to resell that product without loss of functionality when it changes hands and you will be rewarded with happy customers and more money to expand your place in the market.
What you are doing by only allowing the original customer to use the "goods" he/she purchased is hurting everyone involved in the whole economy of video games and it is completely trying to kill off one section of that economy in the used games section. This in turn hurts the entire video game economy both nationally and globally, which then affects the whole economy. In the end it appears to be just one more form of wealthy corporations(some may even say monopolies) wanting their hands on every single cent that can be made from this particular industry and I guarantee you there is an army of lawyers and lobbyists waiting for their call to defend this self destructive business model.
I wonder what will happen if we go back to playing the old DVDs, and console games we've had stashed away for say a year or two? I am glad I am awake and aware of the problem at hand, and therefore they wont be getting anymore of my money which is the only real statement a private citizen without loads of cash can truly make in this country anymore.
I understand the public knowledge part of it, that is fine. I just find it as kind of a sneaky way to get actual humans to identify the numbers.
They're using us to identify our own home and business addresses, does anyone else feel a little violated by this?
Could just be me being paranoid, but this sounds like something out of a science fiction book. Whoever had the idea to do this, I have to admit, was really using their head though.
Another game that I wont be purchasing. Glad I still own all my old games.

Mod up please.

Most banks actually charge the account holder money to order checkbooks, so you end up paying money to spend your money.
I am ashamed to say I noticed this as well... anyway, moving along...
I wonder if this is how the infection that causes the zombie apocalypse will start, I know it has to start with some scientists doing shit they shouldn't be doing in the first place and bringing back an extinct species we have no need for sounds as good as any.

What you just described is one of the many reasons I detest facebook.
So much so that I refuse to capitalize it's name.
One more reason that I will be boycotting* the movie industry until some shit really changes.
*By boycotting, I do not mean pirating as that would only give them more fuel for their legal team's endless legal fire.

Freedom of the press is an illusion, has been for a long time now.
