    That's just sad... that video card now has more clockspeed and more memory than my own main computer.

    Hey, I use myspace, AIM constantly. I'm not a tweener that doesn't know squat about computers, just if you use those sites, programs effectively, they can be a great asset as a way to reach a mass medium of people. My band, for example, uses Myspace excessively and have even booked shows with it. AIM, let's just say if I didn't use it, my phone bill would be sky high.

    DLO (Digital Lifestyle Outfitters) are using their patent #6,591,085 to keep a PodBuddy, designed by DVForge, a product, competing with DLO's TransPod, off the market.

    Don't know about anyone else, but I can tell you I don't adblock google ads, or any other non-intrusive ads. The ads I block are the ones with the sounds and the moving monkeys telling me to hit them to get a free ipod. I mean jesus christ, you wonder why people want to block your ads?

    I'm not ashamed, I'm one of those people... It's not my fault that I'm bored and out of the house. Or that I'm lost in a bad neighbourhood and need directions. My phone's internet capability changes those situations dramatically, and so far, every phone I've had is pretty damn good at being a phone.

    I think the point is that these "better" processors were built with that larger processor speed in mind, and if you underclock it, you still get the added benefit of somethign that's supposed to cool and use a bigger processor for a smaller one. It's like... AMD when they build the 4000+ over the 3200+, attempt to make the 4000+ as calm and quiet as possible, within limits, and go farther with the 4000+ than with the 3200+. Now if you underclock the 4000+, you still take advantage of that extra technology...

    I'm probably wrong.

    I didn't know we had other dopers here. I actually think the fact that SDMB went to being paid hasn't made it worse. The flamers and trolls seemed to leave, and I dunno, $7 a year for a forum that provides me with more help and information than all my teachers combined isn't that bad of a deal.     Article wasn't speaking platform in the metaphorical sense, but actually a platform in the literal sense, as in, to launch missions from there to mars, and refuel, etc.
