I still remember when my parents bought my NES. Super Mario Bros. and Jackal. Great games! I would spend countless hours in front of the TV playing those games, and others that followed.
Not much differnet from today, when I spend hours in front of a computer at work and a TV at home, playing games!
Wow! All this time I had thought Newegg was a reformation of Egghead Software.
I heard something about this long ago

Very similar to this idea...
I think (especially with more and more bluetooth phones), it should be possible to turn phones to silent/vibrate (manner mode on my phone) when entering certain places, such as theatres and restaurants.
Although, some will cry "invasion of privacy" or "taking away my rights", but I cry "I don't want my movie interrupted by your stupid cell phone".
Very similar set up here, although my system was a Frankenstein built by my Uncle.
512KB ram, no hard drive though, a 720KB 3.5" drive, 360KB 5.25" drive, and an amber/monochrome monitor.
People know what a Playstation does... it plays games! If it does more than that, great. Don't underestimate the consumer! People are anticipating this release, and just because it does movies, internet, PVR (does it?), washes the dishes and takes the dog for a walk... well, that isn't going to change the fact that Gran Turismo 5 and Grant Theft Auto are going to be played on it--consumers won't forget that!
Right. $39 is ridiculous.
Also, something to point out, is that there is NO way a disc can cost $24 to produce. You know that thing is costing Sony probably $8, including the case and cover art.
My Gameboy (circa 1990) had earbuds... should I sue Nintendo for those horrible Tetris sounds I blared into my ears as a child?
iPod is not the only device that ships with earbuds.
Also, when does common sense come in on these lawsuits?
(I realize you were just making a point, but you have to admit they aren't very logical if you think about them for more than 5 seconds, as is the case with most lawsuits anymore.)
Well, I currently live in Baltmore, so I know the capitol of Maryland isn't Baltimore, it's Annapolis!
But I know what you mean, people generally go for the big cities. If you know much about WV though, you should know Charleston is the obvious choice, although some might say Morgantown because WVU is there.
Regardless of how correct it is, I think we all know he meant that 10 will be the factor by which it will raise.
Wow, my english skills are lacking too!
I have some CDs that are burned copies (although I'd call this great quality cds, not cheap storebrand with no backing), stored in a CD wallet case that are easily over 5 years old... still work great.
2nd that... and of all my friends and myself, I've only heard of 2 drives failing--both Maxtors.
I currently have an 80gb WD and a 120gb Seagate, as well as a 20gb Maxtor I use as a temp drive.
I agree with most of your article, except the last bit. I would say that parents in general (at least if they're good parents) are concerned about limiting what their children watch, not just the "religious right" nuts.
I fully agree with your sentiments about Comcast, as I pay $62 for digital cable and I watch about 15-20 channels.
I think what would be better (this may be directed more towards the poster ABOVE your comment), are channel "groupings".
-Networks
-Family Channels (ABC Family, PBS, etc)
-Educational (Discovery, History)
-Sports (ESPN1-?)
-Movie/General/Etc (FX, TNT, TBS, etc)
However, if it were really per channel, you'd have to tack on the "service" fee which would be like $20, plus $2 average per channel.
My 20 channels would cost me $60.
So, yes, it is very flawed. Just lower the prices altogether, don't try to rip us off coming and going!
I agree. Also, it's not the ads on sites that just sit there. It's the ones that take over, either by growing to the size of the web page and getting in your way (while you are clicking a link, etc), or have loud music... like a TV commercial. If it's just there, it can flash, dance, whatever--as long as it doesn't get in my way or scare the piss out of me when I'm not expecting to hear voices from my computer at 3am.
Mac OS isn't really a direct competitor to Windows. Linux runs on the same hardware that Windows does, Mac OS does not. Linux is a competitor to both Apple and MS.
On the same note, about prices going up... I noticed this quote of a statistic in the article:
"The drop in ticket sales from last summer to this summer, the most important moviegoing season, is projected to be 9 percent by Labor Day, and the drop in attendance is expected to be even deeper, 11.5 percent"
The drop in attendance was more than the drop in sales. Shouldn't they be somewhat the same? 2.5 percent difference is A LOT of money... so we can obviously conclude that the rising ticket prices has something to do with attendance. I went to a movie the other day with my girlfriend and it cost us $18.50!
I also agree with the sentiment that Hollywood needs to come up with better ideas. Sequels are ok, but remakes ARE NOT! Batman Begins, Star Wars... both did great. Dukes of Hazzard, Bad News Bears, Honemooners DID NOT!
J.K. Rowling wants all of the people who read this book to read it at the same time. That's just her plan, and I think it's a good idea. All of the children who will be reading this book... well, it's fair to all of them to read it at the same time.

Am I the only person who despises this "word"?
But think about it... all these dupes give people like you something to do! And that is... bitch and moan about dupes!

I do, but I'm from West Virginia!

Dragon Warrior was my first RPG! I got it free with a gift subscription to Nintendo Power from my mother. Got me hooked!
I second that. I was frauded on a Gamecube, and paypal got my money back for me.
... which has a free home edition.
"Why would you pay for something you get for free?" asked John Hogan Exactly.

You don't watch TV, so this doesn't apply to you. Don't try to make it apply to you.

May you be touched by his noodley-appendage.
