There seems no end of funding available to search passengers at airports, why can't retail goods be searched?
Minion: Sir! Some guy put a firework in his socks and tried to board an aircraft! Gov: OMFGBBQ!!! Strip-search all passengers! Build new xray machines and put them in airports! Flood the airports with rent-a-cops! Rescind all human rights! Detain anyone who uses any word on our secret naughty word list! Build dna databases of everyone except me!
Minion: Sir! Also Walmart are selling kids toys that are made of toxins! Gov: Meh! So what?
Ah, I remember when I used office last. I was trying to make a template for a pamphlet and needed the text to overflow from one page to another to another. I found that it could only flow a suspicious number of times(8 or 16 or 32 or something) even after patching to the latest version. At that point, realising that i would always have to struggle round limitations in applications, I decided to struggle round the ones in free software rather than pay for the privilege like a chump.
They can add value by auto-updating everyone's FaceBook page with the latest scan and the new status 'clean'/'hilarious'/'needs liposuction'/'tumescent'/'en route to Gitmo' etc.
Can't long endurance laptops be easily built by designing in a larger capacity battery? How large a proportion of the laptop's cost is the battery? Surely if there is a big demand for battery life the manufacturers can just make a thicker, heavier version of a current laptop for a hundred bucks more?
Hehe, my friend has one of these phones and broke it in the first week by using a compressed air line to blow dust and crap off it. The external speaker thing broke, so now it has no ring tone and he has to use vibrate. The earphone and the mic survived so it is ok to make calls. Don't knowif it is no longer waterproof.
I can't wait for this. When I buy a bluray film I will then be able to download the film to my iPhone and my netbook. Well, I will if iTunes and whoever also stock the film. And, of course the downloads may well be heavily censored versions of the film because you can't expect them to stock everything. Oh, and there will be lots of targetted ads that i can't ffwd through pasted into the films. Oh, yeah, and the netbook will have to be trusted so cannot be using that evil linux operating system.
But that aside, yay, woo, I have my credit card ready.
Heh them were t'days. We used to drag our computers round to Tim's mum's house (we were all in our twenties and all lived with parents, stereotypes or what?) and trail thin ethernet everywhere. IPX , SPX , NE2000 cards, doom2 and duke3d. And there was no internet to download drivers in them days, you had to copy files off the netware floppy disks at work. Duke3d was ace because you could jetpack over an open area and drop pipe bombs on the poor fools on the ground. Good times before the cares of the world crushed my spirit.
I have been using freenas on old boxes aggregating old disks ( I always want to get every last hour of use out of hardware before throwing it away) for a few years now and I find that the windows clients (98/2000/XP/Vista) work really well, much better than ubuntu samba. Thus i use nfs sharing for linux and smb for windows from the same freenas. I am rather crap at setting up samba and the freenas makes it all nice and simple for numpties like me.
Nokia aren't the only phones with crap wpa implementation. My LG Renoir allows you to type in a 63 digit wpa key with only moderate difficulty, but if you actually try to connect to the wifi network the phone reboots. How i laughed.
Why liken it to a laptop, when desktops have been using buses to allow major components to be easily changed for decades. Even apple products used to be able to do it (maybe some of them still can, I wouldn't know).
Derp. The point is to dominate each sector in turn by removing competition from unauthorised copies. There are no cam torrents at #3 for instance. The people who now buy cheap VCDs don't buy them from the film's distributors.
The plan is to take all the sales 'lost' to piracy whilst maximising theatrical profits and cutting costs. I bet you could pay your lead actors less if they didn't have to schlep around the world pimping the film. Wasn't Jurassic Park the first film whose advertising budget equalled its production budget?
Do you play an instrument? I bet you don't pay a fee to the instrument maker for every note you play. I bet part of that fee doesn't get paid backwards to the supplier of the materials the instrument is made from. A singer? How much do you pay the production line guy who made your microphone every time you sing into it?
Sculptors? You know the plastic mouldings that nearly everything is made from? Someone has to sculpt the moulds. Do they get a percentage? No, and they have to work to very tight tolerances not 'that looks finished now'.
One of the reasons your 'art' gets 'ripped off' so much is that the people doing so will never be in the position of doing a job once, then getting royalties forever and they don't see why they owe you anything for doing the duplication themselves.
Are you contractually obliged to bitch about downloaders?
Go make pattern parts for GM vehicles, you won't get put away for grand theft auto, but you won't get paid per mile used either.
1. Forget chasing 'pirates'. This will save a lot of expensive legal bills. Cut back drastically on advertising too, as you don't need to whip people up into a frenzy to get them to theatres in the first week.
2. Make film (Citizen Kane2, The Reckoning: starring Adam Sandler or something).
3. Make a VCD cut and make unlabelled cheapo vcd's. Using the economies of scale, sell these so cheap that the guys selling pirate vcd will buy from you rather than burn their own copies. Your margin is the difference between a bulk pressed cd and a small scale burned copy.
4. Simultaneously sell the film as a download for the same price as you get for the vcd....wait a few weeks
5. Make a nicer, longer dvd cut of the film and, again, sell these so cheap that the guys selling pirate dvd will buy from you rather than burn their own copies.
6. Sell the dvd cut of the film online at the same price as the DVD wholesale price..... wait some more
7. Theatre release of film in lovely THX/35mm
8. Dvd/Bluray boxed sets with extra everything. 9. Laugh all the way to the bank (which then gambles half your money away and pays the other half to its CEO).
Obviously the LHC's purpose is to open a portal through spacetime so that Hitlar can be picked up, cloned a billion times then the clone army sent back to zerg-rush Moscow. Wake up, people, the truth is right in front of you!
Yeah, you are a head in a jar, your money got ripped off 30 minutes after you were frozen and you owe the government $100 squillion in cryo-tax and you will be kept in this cupboard till you pay up.

God damn quicktime! Its sole saving grace is that it isn't as bad as realplayer. Screw realplayer!
Sorry about that. It is a natural reflex of mine that developed while using both products.

Where is the 'Depressingly close to the truth' moderation?
Are that you, Denzil?

Thank you, Roger Irrelevant. Frisnit frisnit to you as well.

Yup. Those 'income hogs' at the ISP are taking the full amount you agreed to pay every month, you should be able to take the full 5Mb you were sold.

The little guy who sells bootleg dvds in order to support terrorism. Damn pirate bay have been cutting into his profits.
Wish those pesky scientists had thought of this earlier, we could have retired the B52s and had mach 3 bombers decades ago.
..to the world of tomorrow!

Duh! Skip the chores and exercise and you are good. Pass me the chips.
