Spread it on facebook, twitter etc and they'll do something about it. They don't lift a finger until the marketing department takes notice.
What's wrong with D-Link... well. I worked for D-Link support a long time ago, but it looks like nothing has changed. The people in Taiwan are doing their thing, and there's a lot of layers between them and the end user. I might still be bound by some kind of contract blaha, but one example: they refused to release the gpl'ed firmware sources to customers until I first reported them to the wall of shame on busybox.net, then reported it that my bosses and eventually got them to do something because it looked bad.
Even if he's a bad CTO, roughly $650 sounds a bit low. Firefox is screwed up, but still somewhat usable and I think he would deserve at least a normal salary.
It does matter, a colourblind person (like me) can't see anything but random dots. How can I possibly come up with a description (that I will remember) for random dots?
> I would now never play another MMO without being able to multibox because they are all too easy.
Really? Try multiboxing World of Tanks or War Thunder... Or just try to get good stats the normal way.
I'm not quite sure about the ICANN regulations, but with some TLD's a signed fax is a valid request- ie if a registrar get a fax (or letter) demanding DNS changes (or EPP-codes), the registrar *have to* do what's asked without "being troublesome" and calling back etc. It has nothing to do with cost. Stupid? Sure. But not the registrars fault.
I've always wondered what kind of audience his books are intended for. I really liked Red Storm Rising when I first read it at the age of 14-15, Patriots, Hunt For the Red October and something else were also fun. Then I (and my classmates) kind of outgrew him, and the later books just seems bizarre - greens are terrorists?
I can still enjoy re-reading some stuff, just like I can kind of enjoy watching teen-movies like Pacific Rim (ok, that's not totally true - stopped watching after 4/5th when I got tired of all pointless robot battles). But I get the impression most of his readers are adults?
Anyway, thanks Tom for at least providing the inspiration for Red Storm Rising the sub simulator! One of the best C64 games ever.
The question is, how necessary are projects like GNOME now that Mate and Cinnamon exists? Gnome decided it was a good idea to suck, it's a wonder they still have any users. Why would we give Gnome another chance?
Who don't you explain why we should not have all the stuff we want for free?
It worked fine for at least 50.000 years of human history, artists, musicians etc happily continued creating "culture" without getting payed for it 70 years after their deaths.
I also work for a hosting company, and Drupal is not a problem (unlike Joomla, for example). Not even for slashdotted sites. Oh, we also use drupal for our own (very high traffic) main site.
It does make sense. If you can't demonstrate that you're ready for higher education, then it's just a waste of time going to university (or even college).
And what's that about educational streaming? I didn't do too well in highschool (was more interested in computers and playing the guitar). After "gratuating" I spent a year or two doing silly jobs, then I got tired of i and a few exam for the subjects i had ignored in highschool, but needed to get admitted to the universities. Also, I took something which I think is might be a bit like the US SAT (and got high scores) to make sure I would be admitted, while other people had extra going-to-uni-points due to work experience. No streamlining there.
It's much worse in countries where you have to pay to get an education, which means that there are young people who can't afford going to university (or college) even though they might be better suited for it than their dumb but rich neighbours,
Honest question. Why use wetsuits in WA at all? I've lived in Perth, WA, and I can't imagine why anyone would want to put on something extra since it's so damn hot all the time.
And yes, sharks.... but they are less annoying/dangerous than the local Christians who writes letters to the editor in the local newspaper, explaining why sharks should be exterminated because they're not part of God's plan.
How will the bot catch pedophiles if it pretends to be a 14 year old girls? Pedophiles won't be very interested, instead it might, in best/worst case, attract hebephiles. Or just normal teenage boys.
Most of my furniture is from IKEA (I'm in Sweden, so that's kind of natural). I've moved twice with the same furniture, and didn't have any problems. Or, well, last time I had to look up the documentation for the bed online since I didn't remember who things should be put together... but apart from that - no problems.
Reminds me of the below-average players in World of Tanks, always grinding for the Next Tier Perfect Tank that will get their winrate in the black for sure.
Just get better at coding / learn to master the tanks you already have. There are no shortcuts.
Oh yes it did. I'm guessing you're just too young to remember. Thanks to massive os/2 tv campaigns, "normal" people suddenly wanted a computer, not just a console to play games on
I used to be of the same opinion, but... I've been working in the hosting business for 10 years now, and that kind of attitude doesn't really work in real life.
It's 2013, most people (at least in developed countries with high IT penetration) have their own domain and website nowadays. Do you really think it's fair to call a 50 year old woman who wants a nice website for her cat-blog a moron? Or the coin collector who don't care about computing but just want to write about English hammered coins? Or the fishing club whose members wants a nice looking site with a gallery and perhaps a public calendar? Or the girlfriend who wants to blog about cooking? Are they all morons?
Websites are not just for companies or IT-people anymore.
Also, Wordpress is way way better than it used to be a few years ago (unlike Joomla which is a total fail in every version). Since 3.5.1 was released, I've seen more customers hacked due to brute force logins than security exploits in outdated themes or plugins.
> The Odyssey
Just don't grab the greek one by misstake, it's quite boring compared to:

"Many of us have experimented with what it means to be disabled, by sitting in a wheelchair for a few minutes or putting a blindfold over our eyes."
Er... No. Not all of us smoke whatever you are smoking.

No, I added the robots.txt myself :-\
The domains are still mine, just took them with me to the different webhosts I've been working for.
OTOH, nothing of value has been lost, just wanted to know exactly what I wrote about Seven of Nine 13 years ago.
That really sucks. And explains why I've not been able to find older versions of my own websites.
It does matter, a colourblind person (like me) can't see anything but random dots. How can I possibly come up with a description (that I will remember) for random dots?

Please make sure the power cable is plugged in.

What I find strange is that there's no serious movement in the UK demanding representation in congress.
There's a very good documentary about it:
http://www.channel4.com/programmes/1983-the-brink-of-apocalypse
Well worth watching (and available on TPB)

Damnit. I've been thinking+hobbyworking on a thing like this for two years. I KNEW I should have tried to patent the idea.
My only comfort is that it takes someone as brilliant as Jeri to beat me to it.

Dexter, Longmire, Warehouse 13, Burn Notice, Under the Dome, Breaking Bad, Futurama, Psych, Homeland...?
As far as I know, the old Egyptians didn't have anything like that to distract the population with.
