    That's an excellent analogy. While some people are able to control their brain's response to pain through intense training (like martial arts experts), normal people rely on drugs to help them deal with chronic pain.

    The placebo effect, while often startlingly effective, is only temporary, it always wears off. This is why people need regular treatments at chiropractors and acupuncturists.

    If someone has real severe clinical depression, drugs are the only scientifically proven way to get back to leading a normal life.

    Humans could not have brought it over since the article states that it has undergone 80 million years of evolution since splitting from its asian ancestors. Humans have only been around for approximately 100k years.

    Even if ICO's source code was released under th GPL (which isn't gonna happen), then we'd still be missing the media content.

    Unless you want to supply your own textures, models, sound effects, and music, then I recommend you stick to Tux Racer as a playable game.

    It would only benefit developers at first, but everyone here knows that already.

    I would have given it a 4 or 5 out of 5, if not for the fact that the puzzles were REALLY easy!
    Link's Awakening and Minish Cap were much much better games.

    I wouldn't like to test whether the methane deposits deep in the ocean will get released once our temperature reaches a tipping point. Once that happens, we are royally screwed. See the Permian Extinction for the results of the last time that happened.

    The problem is that we're conducting an experiment on our climate, and if the results go poorly, we're toast.

    Exactly! Just like a cop can't say in court "The defendant is a liar because he looks like one", a strss/lie detector should also be inadmissible in court. It still remains useuful to law enforcement though.

    While evolution is the change/creation of a species due to gradual change over multiple generations, if there is a drastic change in the environment, that change can occur quite fast. Check out Stephen Jay Gould's work on Punctuated Equilibrium. It helps explain also why it's difficult to find transitional fossils.

    If you are talking about the study I think you are, that study stated that having more older brothers increased the chance of being gay. Therefore the 3rd boy would be more likely to be gay than the 2nd, and so on.
