Far less software is cracked for Mac than PC because of the same reason that so many more viruses exist for PC. There are simply far fewer Mac users. There are lots of cross-platform apps with fancy dongle protections (like Waves plugins) that are regularly cracked on the Windows platform, but never properly cracked on Mac. This certainly isn't because of Apple's superior anti-piracy measures.
The difference here is that there are a LOT of Windows users who want to use OSX, so we're talking about a big horde of Windows users chipping away at it, not just the tiny population of Mac users trying to crack an app.
Vegas is the only app that is still holding me out in Windowsland. I use a G5 powermac for everything else I do these days. I keep a Windows XP desktop and laptop just for Vegas. Vegas is just too useful (especially on the road for me) to lose. No Macbook for me until I know I can run Vegas on it.
Everybody including me thinks that putting the controls directly on the screen is silly.
I was just thinking, why not make the back side of the ipod touch sensitive?
You can easily stroke the back of the ipod with your fingers while holding it horizontally (I presume horizontal for widescreen video). The ipod can then provide visual feedback on its interface on the front.
The more you pay for something, the more you expect form it - and these gadgets are expensive! If you pay a premium price, you should expect a premium product.
Also, look at the Apple ads that Apple put out showing a Nano nestled in a jeans change-pocket. If that's not Apple condoning the pocketing of the Nano as appropriate usage, what is?
The argument to "just buy a case" is silly. A case conceals the aesthetics of a product that is priced so highly because of its desirable aesthetics.
I don't own a Nano, but I can easily see why people are getting worked up about Nano scratches.
And here I was, thinking that Apple was coming to its senses when the Mini came out with a nice sturdy scratch-resistant aluminum case.
Am I the only one who thinks it's absolutely ridiculous that ipods are so susceptible to scratches and blemishes? It amazes me how many people have to uglify their gorgeous ipods with rubber skins, just so that it doesn't look like a dog's breakfast!
That said, I opted to use a near-invisible Podshield on mine from Trendygeek. Still absurd that I have to even do that though.
I've got most of the bells and whistles dialed down (one notch above the lowest possible terrain distance, for instance) and I'm rarely getting over 30 FPS in realistic playing conditions.
It seems that a lot of Mac users are rather complacent with game performance, but I have a PC to directly compare with, and I smell that something is amiss here.
Why does World of Warcraft run at 50-60 FPS on my 2.6 Ghz P4, 1 gig RAM with Radeon 9500 Pro (128 MB RAM) video card and only 25-30 FPS on my Dual 2 GHz G5, 2.5 gig RAM with Radeon 9800 Pro (256 MB RAM) video card?
There's some speculation that a fairly popular audio DSP card uses a Chromatic Research video chip.
This card supposedly very accurately emulates some very prized vintage audio processing equipment like the 1176 and the LA2A compressors and limiters.

I tried the UAD-1 before, and I found the biggest problem was the extra latency that it ADDED to my signal chain. Pulled it out and took it back to the store.

As opposed to all the other eels with handsome faces.

Prior art on Nintendo's patent - the original Wii wand.
Amen!

Think of how many fashion models could strut on that thing!

Where have you read/heard these negative comments?

All living creatures (ok, let's just say vertebrates, I am not very sure here) incorporate cholesterol into their cell walls to make cells waterproof.
Cell walls? Yes, if said vertebrate was a plant.
Would be fun when it explodes when you try to send her a picture.
A metric shitload?
There's been some research on this topic - welcome to the uncanny valley!
This interview offers a good look at Joss's work and his experiences with getting his work butchered and mismanaged.

We've argued them down to... a booting.
