Who uses AOL to make this worth it? I wouldn't mind seeing AOL be a spam magnet. Why? I don't use it, morons do. If you won't get a decent ISP or email, I think you bring spam upon yourself.
I am intolerant of people who support restrictive technologies, because they'll aid the lazy.

I consider it a doomsday provision against opressive government and when the police can't protect you. And waving around a 9mm doesn't have the same effect as a Kalashnikov.
Rule of thumb: The technology you gain is worth more than the profits from these. They can gain a market advantage and availability for future rollouts. The price will go down, the technology will go up. The way things always work.
I am disturbed at how you use the term conservatives/liberatarians. We're not like them! Libertarians look to reduce the size of the government, and conservatives want to reduce the size of the government except for the military. Neither us, nor them, have succeed to date, although we haven't been given a chance.
Libertarian thought is loved and embraced on slashdot.
Conservative thought is moderated as flamebait. I guess the community produces only what the community wants to hear.
I agree. The entire industry can't really take you over without you fucking up a lot, when everything else is considered a "TiVo clone". Being the de facto standard and having years on the other people means you need saving?
GHz? You insult me! I'm running a Pentium II 400 MHz box, that was made in '97 or '98. I've since upgraded the RAM and HD to 384 MB and 20 GB respectively. I'm running SuSE Linux 9.1 professional, and I feel myself wanting more harddrive space than processor power.
to build your own PC and put it inside of a sound insulating box that you made? My computer is very fast, and I refuse to trade performance for an expensive way to try and get it quieter. The other solution is to shut off the computer at night. Really. The LED's and whir of the harddrive annoy me at night.
Dell has too much work ahead of them for this really to be a feasible switch. Further, this isn't really that large of a market. I'll be surprised if they've got that much to gain by controlling another market.
They really can't. They're just rejecting one technology. If they were to integrate Mozilla into AOL 10, then I'd start to agree with you more.

I hope they don't hire any slashdotters to run the monitoring system:
Zoom in! A Woman!
You are incredibly correct. I'm a libertarian, mod me up. He's a conservative, mod him down.
Nothing better. Maybe Solitare too.
"I think that there will be someday a worldwide demand for maybe 5 computers." --Somebody important at IBM, probably.
I forget who to attribute it to.
Reconsider a little bit: 400 MHz, 384 MB RAM. Pentium II, manufactured in 1998. Running SuSE 9.1.

I would have thought we'd have a "NO CARRIER" joke as the first post for sure.

You say changed to accomodate third parties. I think you mean "changed back to how it was, which accomodated third parties."
You vote for a third party. Really, people, it's not that hard.
Republicans, Democrats... All the same.
