I don't know the answer to your problem, but maybe you should try complaining about it on slashdot. That way all the geeks can suggest hackeneyed ways of fixing steam when none of them know anything about it's internals. Furthermore, no one here has any power to influence Steam, so whining about it on slashdork will be even more productive.
I think someone also mentioned its a Saturday night...
Dude, WTF is up with your sig? timecube.com has got to be the most incoherent, poorly written, worst layed-out website I've seen in years. I hope it isn't your webpage. Maybe you speak engrish... I dunno. That sig seriously sucks though.
You can't offer 1GB of free storage and not expect abuse. The sheer manpower required to enforce GMail's Terms of Use policy will be astronomical.
GMail was a neat and innovative idea... but it just isn't going to work. The only way I can see GMail succeeding is if they get rid of the 1GB of free storage. It just isn't economical to offer that much space for nothing. Their storage requirements will go into the Petabyte range... you just arn't going to pay for that with advertizing.
SP2 is ~272 MB. With delta-whachamajigit, you could download the same patch in ~5.45 MB. I dunno how fast your broadband is, but I'd sure as hell rather download a 5 meg file then a 272 meg one that did the same thing.
You're confusing DHCP with DNS. I think you've lost your right to say "show you have no clue" to others.
DHCP is what gets you an IP address. Without an IP address, you have no layer 3 connectivity and can type all the l33t IP's you want... it ain't gonna do shit.
Way to re-post the original reply. You simply re-worded the AC's post. You're so lame.

Shut up retard. You may have noticed that the article was for OpenBSD not FreeBSD. You're cut+paste troll is for FreeBSD. Even if you were talking about OpenBSD, why did they patch the OS then? Cuz it's still under active development, that's why. In fact, OpenBSD 3.6 is due Nov 1st. FreeBSD 5.3 will be out a few weeks. DragonFly BSD released 1.0 one month ago.

Wow, FreeBSD 5.3 is being released soon. That's just amazing, you know, since all those idiots on slashdot never shutup about how *BSD is dying. I think they've been saying that for over 3 years now... yet FreeBSD continues to evolve. They release several versions per year and somehow people think it's dying. Amazing.
7 Years of support is unheard of in the Linux world. That'd be like Redhat supporting Linux 5.0... err, I mean Redhat 5.0. Currently Redhat's oldest supported product is Redhat 9.0. Yeah, I'd say Microsoft does less abandoning than some companies.
That's great in theory, but a little impractical. This system would require the teacher to re-read each student's previous paper (or maybe she has a really good memory), and then read the exam, and then somehow maintain impartiality when grading. Also, I don't know many teachers who are willing to double their workload voluntarily.
A better system would be to mandate severe penalties for cheating and make frequent examples of people. All too often I've seen people who cheat, get caught, and get a slap on the wrist (even in university).
Control an explosion of that magnitude...? Hmmm, maybe we could stack some pillows on one side to try and absorb some of the impact. 1,400 tonnes of exploding TNT is a managable explosion. Maybe you could hold up your bed mattress while we detonate it. You should be able to redirect some of the force away from the town.
From yesterdays slashdot story announcing the delay: "Yea, if 3 out of 5 machines failed to come back up, it needs some polishing."
Well... It seems SP2 has gone gold 2 days later. So I say, eat it. Eat it you zealous Linux whores. I'm so tired of the slashdot cheap-shots against microsoft. If it's a Microsoft story, it's automatically bad and Linux is better somehow. The pro-linux attitude of this site will be its demise of all credibility. So go ahead kiddies, continue masturbating to linux.
Kiddie:"Oh yeah, oh yes. Linux is soooo sweet. Ooooh, yeah. Look at that kernel. Oh my god... Ahhhhhh"
Try working tech support for an ISP. People are fucking retarded. They don't even try to solve their own problem(s), they just blame the ISP.
"I opened cool_screensaver.exe and my computer crashed. It's your fault for not filtering the connection".
"My monitor says 'No Signal', is the server down?"
Ugh, those tech support horror-stories are all true; I swear.
Everyone knows that a truly "intellectual" debate will never take place here on slashdot. My usage of the F-word was necessary because I'm frustrated with the bias attitude on slashdot. The mods' stiffling of my very valid argument is extremely frustrating. And as for my nick... well, lets just say I like to take the controversial side (especially against the/. consensus).
I appologize for the non-credible source I quoted. I didn't have time to do my proper "research". I'll be sure to properly footnote my slashdot comments in the future.
I'm not a fucking troll!! The men involved said it themselves! Take note of the last paragraph!!!
When asked about his role in the Tokyo firebombing, he remarked: "I suppose if I had lost the war, I would have been tried as a war criminal. Fortunately, we were on the winning side.
I believe all you've done is prove that you are a hypocrite. Sorry I had to bash America. Obviously you're not open to an intellectual debate.
Yeah, war's a bitch. And everyone is a hypocrite. You just happen to be on the side that happened to win. You can be damn sure that if the allies had lost, there'd be plenty of American (and allied) war criminals to prosecute. How is nuking a civilian city not a war crime? It's not if you win the war, that's how. My point is, every human being to ever walk this earth is a hypocrite.
Apple software doesn't run on x86 so anything they do is negligable. The reason Sun gets attention is... well, they're Sun and they kick ass.
Now, if Apple released OS X for x86, they would get A LOT of attention. OS X is the only UNIX friendly enough for the home-user and true desktop deployment for the masses. Alas, Apple will never do that and we're stuck with a KDE cram-fest of garbage for our "user-friendly" desktop UNIX.
The way I figure it; the more channels you have, the longer it takes to find out there's nothing on. I enjoy my 4 channel peasant-vision. Plus high-speed internet takes precedence anyway. And who needs a phone? Seriously.
Oh I get it. Microsoft don't want their competitors turning up in search results.
I searched for "Mountain bike" and got no results. That must mean Microsoft has some kind of conspiracy against bikes! OMG! Stop the press.
Get a friggen grip man. This search-engine is B-E-T-A. That means it's not done. If microsoft is serious about the search-engine business, you can be damn sure they'll search for anything (including Linux). A search-engine is judged on its ability to return results. Filtering results would only hurt Microsoft's attempt to conquer the search-engine market.

In other news, Linux posts record non-profit. That's what you get when you give all your software away for nothing. LOL.

I still use WindowMaker, and no, it's not because my computer is slow. I just like it better. KDE and Gnome are too big and cluttered for my tastes.
