The findings have raised concerns about the privacy and confidentiality wearable devices may provide.
Who ever suggested that there was any "privacy and confidentiality" of wearable devices that use Bluetooth? Who would even think such a thing? We're not talking about encrypted communications devices here...
Just a small note, the military is switching to the iPhone 6 from the BlackBerry. Most of the leadership at the very large DoD facility I work for turned in their BlackBerries a few months back for iPhones.
Track priority will probably not be an issue since current tracks that Amtrak shares it the freight rail are not "high speed". But not driving, being able to nap or work, that's worth the price. High speed in Europe is comfortable, and reasonably priced.
I do wonder what they do with military personnel from friendly countries engaged in liaison activities, some of whom seem to be embedded in ways that give them access to secret information.
At the USAF base where I work, we have Canadian pilots flying out jets (with classified equipment on-board) on regular missions "down range", and we train Saudi (and other "friendly" forces) on top of the line military gear all the time, so there must be some kind of waiver.
COBOL is an excellent example, it has become niche, but will be in use on "mission critical" systems for years to come. Perhaps ADA would be another example?
Dude was fat and lead a stressful life. Under these conditions, such things happen.
This is not a slight or an insult, it is a statement of fact about the general lifestyle of Americans like myself: Diet, exercise, and stress reduction, unless you want to go at 45, 50 or 60 (and 60 is the new 45)...
So, the iceberg part is actually irrelevant. The ball could be anywhere.
The iceberg part is relevant. With this thing packed inside an iceberg, where does he plan to store a years worth of rations? How does he realistically expect to dispose of a years worth of shit? He's going to be pretty rank after a year inside a small ball.
And, if it just sits on top of the berg, who cares? If it's inside the berg, again, who cares? there is no actual science that can not be done in a much more reasonable way.
is Red Bull sponsoring this? Seriously, why does crap like this make it to the front page of Dicedot? Oh, that's right...
The iPads weren't standalone education devices â" they were supposed to work in conjunction with another device carrying curriculum from a company named Pearson. But the district now says the combined tech didn't meet their needs, and they want their money back.
So... They didn't test the iPad / content combo to establish usability / feasibility / usefulness prior to dropping all this cash?
The ISS crew stays in their tin can for six month stints and seem to get along fine
Six months is not a year, and a year is not three.
Now, we are sending up a guy who will be there a full year, so we may see other things. Subtle (or not) effects of neurosis is almost a certainty. But such isolation could bring out more serious manifestations.
I think studies of prison inmates in isolation would probably be useful.
This is really the dumbest of ideas. Probably what is going on is that Amazon wants to patent a bunch of random "done with a drone" type stuff to be used against other companies like the Patent Troll that is Amazon.
Mostly it exposes that people love to believe stories they like. And of course journalists love to publish stories that their readers like.
I'm gluten free, you insensitive clod.

Well then, I guess all the Group Commanders and the Wing King are in violation of the rules. Though I very much don't think so...

Get out of the Loony Bin, did you?
It's an interesting document, but consider the source.

"Right To Be Forgotten"?
How about your personal responsibility not to put crap on the Intertubes that you don't want people to see?

In addition, US federal jobs (like the one I have) come with fairly decent health benefits.
I really have to say, it's right up Microsoft's alley. From what I know of SalesForce, it's a perfect fit.

Society as we know it is over.
Have a nice steak, and maybe hold off on the children, Soylent Geen is our future.
Goodbye...
You, of course, are a dynamo who powered through college, got a job with an amazing start-up, and is on the cutting edge of something.
No? Did I read your resume wrong?
And! And: it says Snowden is "trapped" in Moscow, which is not very agitprop-friendly.
Snowden *is* trapped in Russia unless he wants to cell-mate with Bradley Manning.

Slashdot's feeding the Russian propaganda sites now?
The source is questionable in many ways, and well known to be a Russian government mouthpiece.
But the same material was available elsewhere in German and international media with all the same opinion slants.

It might be interesting to look at studies done with long term prisoners in jails, where isolation and the effects of it, are fairly known.
My guess is that at this point, any Apple watches on Ebay are counterfeit...
