First off.. I don't own a car with a warantee (it's old and didn't have one when I bought it).. and Second if they know that my warantee is expiring, how come they don't have the information on my car ?... As a scam, how can this possibly work ?.. Who is going to stay on the line, and be asked for the information that they would not readily have available and not realize that there is something fishy here ?... their success rate has to be like 1 out of 500,000 calls at best... If anything, it may lead to some people calling their auto dealer to see about their warantee, but even that has to be pretty low.. I just can't see the money to be made.. I think I would have better success spamming people to give me $5 "just because I could use it".
Considering they are probably the ones to be prosecuted, cooperation seems unlikely.. The real question is the cooperation of the government.. again unlikely because they are symbiotic. Corruption and bribery are just facts of life and commonly accepted as normal by everyday citizens.. there is very little, if any, effort to combat these things.. I won't go as far as to say that being a criminal is desirable, however being able to obtain things through often shady methods means you are "resourceful", and that is considered an admirable trait.. It's a cultural difference that will take a long time to change.
Hotmail has had very few hiccups.. even with the changeover (I think they had like almost 24 hours of downtime).. On the other hand, an example of changeover gone wrong was Excite where mail was out for like 30 days.

Scheduling itself, can be creative.. for example placing a struggling show in between two that are doing well.. but I don't see that the actual schedule is..
Airlines also have schedules, and yes there has been money to be made with this information.. but I think it has been realized that there is more money to be made with sharing the information, and having full planes.
Well you have a $2 million lifetime deduction (soon to be 3.5 mil).. so all this is mute unless your estate is worth more than that. (unless you give away money before you die and take the deduction from paying gift taxes).. If your smart enough to have accumulated an estate that size, you are probably smart enough to arrange things to take care of your beneficiaries reasonably well... Now of course if they want to live on a yacht eating caviar and drinking champagne then maybe they need to earn that themselves if it's not covered in what they get.

The thing to ask yourself is why you are upgrading ?... I can understand the holding on to old but useful hardware.. that's cool.. but if it is so old that you can't boot anything but a floppy, then you just need to accept what you have available for OS now.. and be happy.. doesn't everything that you need to work, work now ?.. are you going to get new functionality with the upgrade ?
If the bios is so old, and unable to be updated to boot from another device.. then accept your fate and the facts that you have pushed it to its limits, and that it's time to either continue the way it is with what you got, or upgrade the hardware.

You do realize that going digital does not mean free cable.. all it means is the same stuff, plus a few extra channels of old stuff.. and you can get the converter box rebate from the government and do it for free.. (almost free, probably need to buy another antennae)

I think there is a percentage of downloaded copies in which a sale is lost.. but it is minuscule.. the great majority of these down-loaders would not buy the game at all.. and in fact there are probably more sales generated, by both people who find that they like it and are willing to pay for it, or from others who possibly see the game at the down-loaders house and decide to purchase it.. I imagine it all works in favor of the game companies on the better games.. regardless of what they think... Now movies, are probably a different story.. there are I am sure, quite a bit of rental dollars lost, that will not be recovered (although perhaps a rental now and then long down the road may happen).. There may be some gain in the theaters on the better movies, but I doubt much.. however, the majority of the movie industries problems with theater sales, are that they have priced themselves too high in the first place. Most of what you get at the theater, is just not worth it.

There is a difference between nuisance and "danger".. More street cops to catch people in the act seems a better solution (as they could solve other problems).. The problem you run into, is that in really heavy traffic, that all goes out the window. I also don't get your DNA database connection... First what makes you think they are going to pay to have your DNA stored in a database ?? I mean they probably do hundreds of DUI's a night, and DNA testing is not as simple as a blood or urine test (at least not yet).. and even then what is the objection ?.. I served in the military, my fingerprints are on file.. so what ? If they want my DNA for a database.. I say so what..
