I think this blog comes from higher ups @ Microsoft. Microsoft sees that Mozilla (FireFox) is viable competition for IE. In 5 years **if** IE looses the browser war (and mozilla were built using M$ APIs ) at least Microsoft can claim that Mozilla was built using their technology. It would be a HUGE marketing factor for Microsoft.
Or worse, M$ could start using the Mozilla code base in IE. Having someone else invest the time, and money to build them a browser.
A nice case of "KEEP YOUR FRIENDS CLOSE AND YOUR ENEMIES CLOSER."
"Each second, a sensor in the heel can take up to 20,000 readings and the embedded electronic brain can make 10,000 calculations, directing a tiny electric motor to change the shoe."
Forget that! I need a shoe that will sense the stink coming from my feet, and deodorize as needed!
I don't know anything about graphic work/photo editing, but a friend of mine works for a graphic company that has produced many images (for packaging) for Kraft. According to him THE GIMP is being used by approx. 10% of their shop. Considering KRAFT is the #2 food retailer, I find it hard to beLIEve that THE GIMP is as bad as people say!
Honestly, I have not read the gimp site since version 2 became available, but approx. 6 months ago I recall reading on the gimp webpage that gimp was by no means the Adobe Photoshop killer. I don't know if this applies to version 2, but if it does it would be the user fault for not doing a little better research.
Hopefully sound will work better. It worked fine for 2 1/2 weeks on Fedora Core 2 Test 2, then suddenly it stopped working. Now everytime I log into KDE or Gnome I get an error regarding the sound daemon (well that's what test builds are for). I think the only thing I did differently was I docked the arts meter tool in the system tray.
I reinstall Win2k approx. every 3 to 4 months. I just find that the thing starts to slow down after a while of using -- which is odd because I install all the software I need within two days, and it seems faster for for awhile.
What do I install after a fresh Windows 2k install.
i. Service Packs ii. IE 6 SP1 iii. Patches, Patches, Patches, more patches iv. Disable Windows Services (at boot up my system uses 40.3MB of RAM). v. WinAmp 2.9 - version 5 stinks vi. Mozilla Latest Build vii. OpenOffice viii. SecureCRT ix. YahooPops! So that I can use Mozilla Mail to check My Yahoo Mail x. WS-FTP LE to transfer files between my primary Linux Machine.
The only other appz I use are Kazaa Lite, Acdsee4, Nero 6
"Have you, and IT person, ever called the MS helpline? If so, were you able to get an answer...?"
Called once about a bug with sync. delays with Outlook 2000 and IMAP servers causing Outlook to hang. Problem finally fixed in Office2k - SP3. By this time I had already converted 90% of my office to Mozilla!
Thanks Microsoft for not fixing compatibility issues in your software. Can you guess what finger I'm holding up?
I secretly converted my mom (age 59) to OO.o during Christmas... She has not noticed yet!
Only thing I did was point her Office Icons to the corresponding OO.o app. (Microsft Word icon opens OO.o Writer), and have Writer save to *.doc, and Calc save to *.xls formats by default.
I would like to see a picture of an OSS Mascott (*cough* TUX *cough*) with a pretty little butterfly (*cough* Microsoft *cough*) hanging half way out of their mouth/beak.....
I work for a company of 87 employees as a desktop technician. For awhile we were solely an IBM shop until I showed management our failing hardware records with IBM (59 of our 62 workstations had hardware failures, and we would receive refurbed parts as replacements). A few months ago we started doing business with Dell. Since then we have replaced many of our IBM stations with DELL. To date we have 43 Dell workstations/laptops and our record for failing Dell hardware is:
Workstaiton -- Failed right of the box
Monitor -- suddenly went blurry.
Hard Drive Failure - It was a Maxtor.... didn't see that happening!
Over all I like IBM - our servers work great, and the support has been incredible -- on par with Sun support, but IBM desktops SUCK!
From the department of "let's squeeze that much more work from our employees."
Heaven forbid if you take a minute to get a drink form the vending maching at work.
I must say it's a lot cooler than the mini fridge I have beside my couch. Can you tell I'm a bachalor?
Three items about this article that makes me think the writer is all about BS!
i. Windows 3.1 - that he said he installed on this system. Windows 3.1 can't read drives larger than 8 GB. hmmm... sounds fishy. Where can you buy a modern pc with only a 8gb hard drive?
ii. The author of this dribble did not specify his hardware platform. He wrote this article based on tests with a 'new' PC. Considering it's becoming harder, and harder to find a 2.2Ghz system I would beLIEve he's full of it. Why you ask? Try it yourself - Windows 98 will crash boom ( yes even more than before) when installed on a 2ghz system.
iii. Hey WinNT 4 was released about the same time as Win95. Knowing that WinNT 4 (no service packs) could only recognize disks 8GB or smaller(yes I know WinNT 4 SP1 could) one could assume win95 had this same limitation (I don't recall the limitations (if any) on disk size for Win95) -- therefore he probably ran into this same issue installing Win95. So the question becomes where did he buy the system with only a 8GB hard drive in it?
I was disapointed when I found a link to the same article on www.osnews.com -- now it's really sad to find it on/.
Is Halo the only successfull XBox Game? It seems like it sometimes! I'm kind of sick from hearing about it.
PS: It wasn't even that good of a game!
I've been reading that another browser war may be brewing, but I could be talking out of my *beep.

From their website they expect "Engineering and
Development" to take 4 to 6 weeks. Good luck to you!

When executed I get the following: error code 4256: Not now - I have a headacke! Any OSS for WOMAN bot ADVIL?
Hey, I have one of those WOMAN bots -- You can find it in the kitchen cooking or doing my laundry! LOL
