    Possibly almost all of the Xbox 360 games will be DVD only, hence gamers won't be inclined to buy the HD-DVD. Plus, for the new customer who is into HDTV and movies, XBOX+HDDVD is not really a better solution than PS3.

    On the other hand, there will be at least as much Blu-Ray players as PS3s.

    At the end, the war is not about technology but numbers.

    As far as I know, this particular virus was not thought to be dangerous to humans as such, but the possibility if it combining with the human version was the concern.

    It is deadly for humans too, but not contagious.

    Rails comes with a webserver (Webserver), and there is a standalone IDE (RadRails) for development (though it is obviously Eclipse powered).

    Now how can I tell my children that hiking, climbing, biking gives much more fun than electronic gadgets???

    I don't see any reason why one shouldn't make an electronic gadget which teaches hiking, climbing or biking in addition to writing, reading, etc.

    Even if one considers all languages, there are a lot of English news sources that are located in non-English speaking countries. Plus, I can safely bet that English still has the majory of the news pie.

    It is good that you could expect that. For me, there are a lot of different factors that add to complexity. Neutrality of Google being one, the fact that Google News is in English being another.

    How about a Promptu commercial on TV just after you pressed talk :)

    Plus, pressing a button and talking cannot faster than pressing two or tree buttons.

    You mean GPL. The other "rules" are pretty subjective. I for one, would like to see Google act in favor of the community assuming the kernel patches are not the core of their technology.

    The question is: Do they use these patches on the search appliances they sell, and does that count as "distribution"? I honestly don't know the answer to that question, and I'd like to think Google has sharp legal advisors to go with their sharp technical people.

    Probably they do. But I am still curious about some of the hardware they sell.

    Moreover, Google has created its own patches for things that haven't been fixed in the original kernel.

    Anybody knows? This is not a GPL question just an ethical one.

    Why should I assume he's evil if there is no evidence of it? Do you have anything to back up this claim that my comment is naive?

    I don't know if he is true evil or not, but he didn't do many things because of the goodness of his heart. (He cannot do by the way, he has to answer to American people).

    Ask yourself this question: of all the countries in the world, why did he pick the one with second biggest oil reserves, to "save"?

    If I were an Israeli borderguard and a woman strapped with explosives runs towards me, I would... kill them. If I were a Sudan military or somesuch and a rebel child points an AK47 at me ready to fire, I would... shoot them in the legs, hopefully, but good chance I'd aim for the chest due to the larger surface area and it'd probably... kill them.

    I was wondering how you people can sleep at night, Thanks to you, I have some idea now.

    Anyway, it is unlikely that those women and children try to attack a terrorist organization. In other words, if PKK kills some civilian it cannot be because they are trying to prevent a bomb or anything, it is simply because that is what they do.

    Maybe he's just hoping that it will have a democratizing and modernizing influence on Turkey? I'm not a Bush fan, but Bush generally seems to have good intentions; it's just the implementation of his good intentions that he fucks over beyond belief.

    Most of the slashdotters have no idea about the politics in other parts of the world, but I have never seen a more naive comment in my life. Conguratulations.

    Actually, I would like to see some interface in the kernel level. Here is a pretty recent discussion in kernel's mailing list regarding reiserfs4 (, winfs, mac osx' new search thing) and reiser4's plugin mechanism. Interesting read.
