  1. Re:how to use best buy warranties on Do You Want Best Buy Opening Your New Laptop? · · Score: 1

I got my BB extended accidental damage warranty free.
I bought an open box video camera, and the store had lost the packing materials.
I got them to discount the camera (beyond the already open box discount & last year's model discount) by the cost of the warranty (with the provision that I'd buy the warranty).

They don't really care about the price of the camera, it was a display and needed to be disposed of. What they cared about was showing they "sold" another warranty.

    (or some other tripe)

I would have friended two of my teachers on FB when I was in high school. My ceramics teacher, and my photography teacher. That said, there would then need to be limits placed on the schools for trying to police children's activities when not at school. As long as schools can expel or suspend a child for something he/she has claimed to have done (even if there is no evidence other than a boastful claim) while outside of school, then I think having teachers and students be 'friends' may be a poor idea.

    Also:
Please remember that teachers are "mandatory reporters". There are many things that they are obligated to report if they see them happen*, even if not in school.

The driver for 64 bit will be the need for more than 3.4 gigs of useable RAM
The driver for needing more ram is all the applications people want to run, which are trending to needing more and more RAM.

In my case, the need was video editing (becoming more and more common) in 1080p (also becoming more common).
This one need ultimately led to a new machine with Win7Business x64 to support the 16 gigs of ram.

720p video cameras can be had for under $200
    1080p cameras for under $600
1080p AVCHD cameras for under $1000
All of this drives consumer demand, then they find out their old computer can't handle it and the upgrade cycle starts.

Once the owners of the patents all implode and the FSF owns all the patents, having bought them for haypennies on the dollar, tech inventers can resume inventing.

Since the patent minefield is such that nothing new can be made without stepping on at least one patent, the FSF can ensure any new megacorps have to enter a cross license. The end result is that the FSF will own or have a license for *all* tech patents. /dreaming
