Seriously, theyve been talking about this SINGLE LEVEL for quite long enough. Once again I saw 'Lost Coast' in a/. headline and stupidly thought "Kickass, its finally coming out.. months and months behind but I can finally see what theyre talking about." At this point I just hope that I'm not seeing the level for the first time in Halflife 3.
I havent actually checked to see which specific site Verheul was previously employed but given that both Intel's and AMD's headquarters are located in California he probably doesnt have anything to worry about.
My questions is how long are the rest of us going to have to wait before a ban on non-compete clauses filters out to the other 49 states?
You are absolutely right. I wasn't very clear about this in my post but I would have to say that Mario 2 is without a doubt my favorite game in the series. It really doesn't bother me in the least that they borrowed from another game. However, it was very interesting to learn that the only reason Luigi is taller than Mario in Mario 2 and subsequent games is because 'the high jumping mother' he replaced had a tall character sprite.
It seems to me that Rockstar have all but completely screwed themselves by so quickly caving in and re-rating the game. They have now effectively admitted that GTA:SA should have been sold as 'AO' from the start and opened themselves to just these kinds of attacks.
The questions of who the game is actually appropriate for and whether the content should have been removed is now all but moot. Obviously, if this woman is so concerned with what her grandson plays she shouldn't have purchased the game for him in the first place, but it will be awfully easy for everyone to say 'Well yeah I bought a Mature +17 game for my [insert young person] but I never would have if it had been rated Adults Only.'
"But the content owners are watching IPTV's progress closely, Gates said. "They'll often say to us, 'Well, how many households, and in what year?,' and at this point nobody knows the exact number. But over the next five years, it will be definitely many tens of millions."
Honestly, is the man even capable of speach that doesnt involve grandiose claims and bloated ego. Sure Bill youre going to go from ~0% deployment of technology that most people dont give a crap about to 'many tens of millions' households in 5 years.
Not to say that Intel doesnt make great networking cards but why Intel only? Is Intel just a brand you prefer to use or have you really had far more problems with others?
I would love to see a game (quite likely an RPG though I suppose a FPS would make more sense) that takes place in Stephen King's Dark Tower universe(s). King touched upon many interesting ideas and locations that unfortunately could not be explored to their fullest conclusion, and it seems that a video game would be a nice way of doing so.
Its possible that I've just missed any reference to this in the various articles and/. user comments, but has anybody from Nintendo specifically said whether they will or will not be charging fees for the old downloadable nintendo games? Many people seem to be assuming that these games will be free but quotes like this one from Nintendo.com really isn't specific enough to tell.
"The console also will have downloadable access to 20 years of fan-favorite titles originally released for Nintendo 64, the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) and even the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES)."
"We should have to pay over $1000 for a system with only 200 megs of disk and 8 megs of RAM."
Thats funny, I remember paying well over $1000 for my SWEET 486sx with 6 whopping megs of ram (thats 2 onboard and an additional 4 single megabyte chips). That baby also had a 120 MB hard drive compressed to 200 MB.
Insert necessary 'those were the days' comments here...
"At least some states have figured out how to file taxes electronicly and directly (and free!) without involving someone with a profit motive in the mix."
Thats why this tax season was one of the first times I was actually happy to be living in Indiana.
KStars would be a fine example of 'Edutainment' software that the kids may be interested in. Finding this fun/free desktop planetarium package installed after emerging KDE led me to a love for astronomy I had never before realized.
And of course nothing teaches wacky computer-land physics like a quality game of Scorched Earth.
Actually, 1.5% is quite the overestimation. By using $50 billion as your starting figure I assume you are referring to Microsoft's net worth. According to Forbes thier net worth is more like 40.7 billion, though that information may be a couple of years old.
Anyway, 750,000 of 40.7 billion is roughly 0.00001843%. My own net worth (small considering I dont own my own home and my car is from 96) is somewhere around $50,000. Using that same math I would have to donate just over 92 cents to match Mr. Gate's percentage contribution.
Having said all that $750,000,000.00 is still an amazing contribution. I just feel its important to keep everything in perspective
I wonder how many people are still using the floppies they bought 5-10 years ago and bitching about them not working. I mean what kind of shelf life does a floppy have, maybe 2 years?
Not that I'm trying to say that they dont suck. They do.. so very very much. Personally I quit using them a couple of computer 'builds' ago.

Heres a quality example of how they changed the artwork.

Learning a programming language is better than doing it half-assed.
Stay tuned for tomorrow's topic, 'Computers are easier to use if you know how to use them'
Ahh yes that is quite true. With so many companies/people to be angry with on /. in a given day I'm beginning to get confused.

"There's no new feature or new design that can be done only on Linux, and not on Microsoft"
Finally, a Microsoft employee shows some real understanding about the beauty of OSS.
... that you already have broadband

"You should be focussed on bringing in money.."
Quick reality check - Outsourcing does not necessarily equal money savings, especially if you only have 5-7 people in the office.
"Intel Lan cards only"
Not to say that Intel doesnt make great networking cards but why Intel only? Is Intel just a brand you prefer to use or have you really had far more problems with others?
Change that to 50% of floppies work in 50% of the existing floppy drives 50% of the time and youll almost be right.

Just for clarification, the quoted text comes from the user comments section not from Dave Massey himself.

There's no need to blame the people that taught me math. I'm sure they tried their best. I assume all blame.
Note to self: When bitching about other people's math I should watch my zeros.
