Yeah, it would. I submitted another one by the same asshole (who has all these yahoo-login style phishing sites). I got one of them shut down, but then he changed the frameset to point to another version. It's like playing whack-a-mole. I just sent an email to the abuse company who seems to be the registrar/host of the "parent" frameset in the hopes that it will cause trouble for him, but what can one do? Probably as fast as I shut these things down, he's setting up new ones.
Funny thing, I submitted a phishing site to Netcraft and was notified that it was a new one to their database, and what do they do?
They ask me to reply to their email address with my full name, street address so that they can send me a "gift". I don't know what it is (haven't received it yet), but thought it ironic that they were soliciting information in a phishing-style.
I sent them the address so they can send me a gift (t-shirt? who knows) since I knew I had contacted THEM about the particular phishing URL, and the info they requested could be gleaned by someone who wanted to find out, but found it humorous nonetheless.
Anybody know what is this "reward" they mail you? I'm curious.
Well, if nothing else, I'd continue to slam Verizon for the simple fact that nobody in their tech support system ever suggested smtp authentication, and when I stated the problem I was having, I was sternly told, "That's the way it is. This is our policy" (re: allowing only "From: *@verizon.net" addresses.
Keep in mind that I spoke to three or four people at Verizon about this, didn't get proper help, and that's why I cancelled.
Well then maybe something has changed since I had tried it (less than a year ago). But I talked not only to tier-1 tech, but also some network guys who seemed to know a bit about what was going on. Nobody ever suggested my mail client had to authenticate with their server. Yet If I changed the "From:" address to the "@verizon.net" account, they sent fine (no smtp auth).
Next time I'm going to have to find a way to escalate the ticket straight up the ladder so I can speak to someone who knows their ass from a hole in the ground.
Several months ago I got Verizon DSL during a hardware promo period, and had it installed for about 4 hours. I very quickly discovered that I couldn't use their outgoing mail servers unless my "From:" contained username@verizon.net (or some other verizon domain variant). Nope, it flat-out rejected it. Well, wtf??? As if nobody ever wants to send email "From" their other email addresses for work, personal domains, etc? So I uninstalled the equipment and returned it for a refund. Back to cable for me.
I see no point in using Verizon unless they lift these draconian restrictions on SMTP servers.
Admittedly, I'm a Windows user who likes familiar programs, Nero being one of them. But if there are free / OSS versions of cd burning software out there that can come even close to Nero, I would love to know about them. Do tell!
The more opportunities I have to rid myself of bigger commercial software ventures and donate to OSS projects, the better I feel about using that software.
...or is there no easy way to BYOPVR? I mean, I've heard about MythTV and Freevo and all sorts of hardware, etc, and as much as I think Linux can be a great tool, sometimes it's a royal FPITA to get thing configured & compiled right, make everything work. I'm not a kung-fu master sysadmin, just a guy who's done his fair share of./configure, make && make install.
If I don't want to fuck around with making sure I've got all the right hardware pieces just perfect, what're my options for buying something pre-built that will work well, no monthly subscription fee, etc?
It's good to hear about other churches who are willing to accept everyone. I've always said that Jesus would accept a homosexual as a friend without even blinking. It's also good to hear about other churches where the ability to think is a virtue!
I agree wholeheartedly. Now I know a litle bit more about UCC, and am glad to know of their stance. Outstanding!
There are a great many number of interpretations of Biblical writings depending on if you are Roman Catholic, Lutheran, Baptist, etc. Some believe in completely literal translation of the Bible. This, I believe, is something in which you find great fault (correct me if I am wrong). I'm not out to change your views, but for what it's worth, there are plenty that don't think that way.
For example, I'm a member of a church in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (ELCA). Our particular interpretations are far more lenient, and do not at all suppose that concepts of evolution and science are mutually exclusive from Biblical teachings or faith. On the contrary, we believe God does indeed want us to use our intellect to understand these things.
Of course, the ELCA is considered far more "liberal" than just about any other Christian faith you may find in the US. We have no problems ordaining homosexuals for leadership positions in the church (given a vow of celibacy*), as well as women for the same. Can't say that for the Catholics or Baptists, to be sure.
This isn't meant to be a pro- or anti- religious post regarding any "Christian faith" in the US. I'm not out to change anybody's beliefs. Keep up the critical thinking! This was just meant to be somewhat informative. Hopefully you know something more than before you read my post.
Cheers,

* My politics are more liberal than this, also. I'm not homophobic by any stretch. This is a statement about the ELCA policies, not my own personal beliefs.
This is why when all else fails, I turn to the alt.binaries groups to find my VCDs, SVCDs, etc. Use an excellent free news reader like XNews, browse to alt.binaries and then filter the groups based on your keyword ("enterprise" or "simpsons" or whatever). Many of the most popular shows have their own groups. And even the less popular show up in alt.binaries.vcd, alt.binaries.svcd, etc.
What about all those folks who said at the last "SuprNova is going bye-bye" story that it couldn't be touched because it was somewhere in Europe where the MPAA can't reach them?
We can't really say this is the result of MPAA, can we? Can they "get" the folks related to suprnova.org if they are located in Belgium or Turkey or whereever?

It's probably important to distinguish between the two things you've mentioned, "think" versus "act intelligently". In AI, what we usually call "thinking" is an algorithm which given a set of data (usually in a "toy world") can perceive data, act upon the world, receive feedback and alter its plan accordingly. More accurately this would be "machine learning" rather than "thinking", a word which definitely has philosophical entertwinings which may not be useful questions (as Dijkstra points out).
Yes, machines can carry out intelligent behavior, but not necessarily because they were programmed to perform an explicit set of actions. Think of genetic algorithms and evolution: You specify your RVs, chances for mutations, etc and a way for the computer algorithm to measure the success of each individual in the population (or a way to manually select your favorites) and you create an algorithm to 'evolve' a particular type of solution. One interesting one is the animated Luxo lamp which "hops" (think Pixar studios animation). We can call this intelligent behavior to be sure, but we didn't program the machine to reach a specific goal; we just told it how to measure success. It's simply getting the ball rolling, and then watching what the machine might produce. Very fascinating stuff if you get a chance to see a video clip of this hopping Luxo lamp and the explanation.

Reminds me of an old quote about the study of AI,
"The question of whether computers can think is like the question of whether submarines can swim." * "The question 'Can machines think?' is as ill-posed and uninteresting as the question 'Can submarines swim?'" - E W Dijkstra
Seems to me that emergent properties is what it's about. I've got to concede Dijkstra's point.
Hear, hear. Point well made. [The mods ought to give you at least a point or two for that. And I ought to browse at -1 more often to see what some of the group-think can often miss.]
It's interesting... at the University of Wisconsin (Madison), I count an incredibly high number of Southest Asians (Hmong, Laotian, etc), Chinese and Indians enrolled in the Engineering and Computer Science programs. I wonder if these folks tend to get these degrees to further their chances here in the US, or to go back to the mother-land?
How far does a Top-10 degree get you in China, Japan or others in comparison to their native universities?
And with that in mind, can someone post a mirror of this comic (which by the title alone, sounds quite funny) which the now-toasted PA server cannot serve?
Thanks. Damn, see, i'd nearly forgotten about that. I've got almost every single FS episode ripped to SVCD except for the final four episodes.
Any idea where I can find a torrent for that final episode (4x22, "Bad Timing")? I've checked suprnova, tvtorrents, and googled for it. Even checked alt.binaries.tv.farscape (which is still loading all the thousands of headers, very slowly).:(

A company named Larson has done exactly as you suggest for lots of different towers.

Really, what's it got against Bad English? Okay, so it was Top 40 glurge, but no worse than other "supergroup" bands at the time.

Then try this. Assuming you're in the US, it's got good data. Sure, not as feature-rich as weather channel's site, but has the info you need.
(God as my witness, I honestly thought turkeys could fly.)
Actually, depending on the breed of turkey and whether domestic or wild, they can fly.

Instead, just build this Son of Fermentation Chiller. Probably a bit less effort.
You're too young, I'm sure. There's an old song with a chorus lyric of "I never promised you a rose garden." *sigh*
Showing my age, I guess.
