  3. Why do universities still provide e-mail? on Choosing a Replacement Email System For a University? · · Score: 1

This seems very unnecessary today. I understand the legacy and when universities where a big percent of the Internet then e-mail naturally went with your provider. But these days most people have multiple accounts all over the place and I don't see why a student needs an 'official' e-mail address anyway.

Give me some (any) incentive, and I'll be happy to seed your content. I can't believe it's 2008 and no one has come up with some type of web services sitting on top of bittorrent. The Internet is designed to keep on chuggin' even if you tear it's arms & legs off. Yet these Masters of Information companies still use a centralized approach with their content. Bittorrent is The Perfect Application with respect to the purpose of the Internet & in dealing with a major disaster. I see it as those companies responsibility to anticipate and deal effectively with guaranteeing the availability of critical information to the public in a serious crisis.

  6. allofmp3.com on Chronicling the Failures of DRM · · Score: 1

I know I'm not alone in missing allofmp3. Aside from the fantastic prices, what made the service so great was it's flexibility. Choosing your own format & bitrate,. highly customizable. It was just the best. A pleasure to use. Even if they charged the greedy western prices, it would be the best place to purchase music. Why can't any of these big business music dealers figure it out and make a site that works like that? God I miss allofmp3.

  7. What about In-(sub)Network data on Comcast To Cap Data Transfers At 250 GB In October · · Score: 1

Since they are trying to copy the phone/minutes model. If you are going to cap my Internet, why not give me unlimited WAN (Comcast network). Same idea, it shouldn't cost them more since it stays on 'their network' and would give incentive for people to use the same provider. Granted, this is assuming the average user is doing lots of p2p. Plus many people don't have a choice anyway, they have to go with the local provider. Even if you have no say or knowledge of everyone else's provider, my Comcast to Comcast transfers should not count against my total. Give me something.

Otherwise, firearms (rifle, shotgun, pistol) will not protect you from tyranny, because the government can send in Abrams, Warthog or even a bunxh of B-52 to quell the rebellion. The scenery is totally different from the 1770s, nowadays artillery, air force and tanks are king.

I'm sure everyone else with you in the FEMA camp will agree with those points.

Otherwise I think pistols and revolvers should not be allowed, because they are not "militia" compatible and only serve crime via concealed carry. Long firearms have a legitimate use in hunting as well as militia, that should be acceptable for civilian posession.
