and maybe they've been fucking with the whole Israeli population for ~30 years, but it has nothing to do with this particular girl.
So why aren't they shooting all laptops? Is it only potential terrorists who might be stupid enough to have stamps from Arabic countries in their passports and carry insulting pictures on their camera's that have their laptops destroyed?
Of course they picked on this girl. They didn't approve of where she'd been and what she was learning.
Just because you are under threat does not mean unacceptable behaviour is now acceptable.
Apple is trying to claim control over ALL uses of the (sub) term 'Pod',
Did you even read the synopsis? Let me help you out:
Apple has issued warnings to makers of other electronic devices containing the word 'pod.'
Electronic devices! Electronic devices with the name "pod" in them, quite plainly suggests a link to Apple, their good will and their standards.
MS still only gets to use Windows when talking about THEIR OS.
True, but more importantly nobody else gets to talk about windows in relation to an operating system. Which is exactly what Apple are stopping other people from doing with their trademark.Nobody gets to call an electronic device an anything-pod because its not an apple product.
You sniffing much glue these days?
It shows how really slow you are; that you can't make your arguments do the talking instead of hitting the personal insults.
Sure, but I can still call the windows in my house Windows.
Who said you couldn't? Did you read my post? I mentioned Windows specifically in terms of operating systems. This was exactly the point I was making.
I could invent and patent a plastic window to install in your stomach to view what you've eaten and call it bodyWindows.
Exactly! It has nothing to do with an operating system. Furthermore no-one would mix up a see-through piece of glass with a operating system now would they?
their claim to anything containing the term POD is BS
That's not what they're claiming, its what you're assuming!. What they're claiming is small electronic gadgets (and covers for small electronic gadgets!) that bear the "POD" in the name is confusing and trading off of their good name.
And trying to protect words that are used in everyday life is ridiculous, and I can't believe anyone in their right mind is arguing for that. First "Windows" and now "Pod" what next, "Mouse"? "Can"? "Pen"?
Windows was a word used by microsoft to name their operating system. It has since become rather a popular operating system, but it is still a trademark! No-one else can use windows as the name of their operating system for very good reason. Its called deception.
Similarly with iPod, it represents an apple brand name, anyone using..Pod, gives the suggestion that its an apple product, with everything that goes with that (style, build quality, etc). So if you use xPod, you're "stealing" Apples hard earned good will.
Will Nintendo start warning people about using the word "Paper" because they have a successful Paper Mario franchise?
No but you will run into problems if you create a computer game who's hero is an guy called Mario! Similarly even though everyone (in the States) calls a tissue a kleenex, doesn't mean you can bring out your own brand and call them kleenex too!
Next thing you know, they'll be taking Granny Smith to court because they call them "apples".
See above. At least try and apply some logic in your arguments...
Where do you think your Nokia phone is from? Finland (ok probably actually made in Asia, but you get the picture).
It says in the article that its a GSM phone. GSM is the standard used in Europe (and a fair chunk of the rest of the world) and is also supported and used in the USA (T-Mobile for one), albeit at 1900MHz. Most modern GSM phones support at least 3 GSM bands 900, 1800 and 1900Mhz, so theres no reason to think that a "premium" phone like this Swiss model wouldn't; especially since you'd imagine they'd want to get selling in the US consumer market.
And most people who get drunk, don't want a hangover in the morning. Hey Presto! Synthehol!
For those who want the taste,..., and you couldn't get the same flavor with this stuff.
Since we're having a theoretical debate "There's no scientific reason...", I will further the claim and say there is no scientific reason why we can't make Star Trek wine which tastes EXACTLY like the real thing.
By the way this Professor Nutt is a psychopharmacologist which is wrong on so many levels...
This is standard issue Microsoft tactics. If someone's doing something interesting simply destroy the market. Heck Microsoft don't have to make money, they've got a gazillion dollars* under the mattress.
I think I must be one of the few on here who's actually had it with all the M$FT bashing...
I've had it with the love fest with anything that is not M$FT...
I want scientific analysis...
I'm not sure you're really getting this whole slashdot thing...

Hey! Guess where (almost) everyone in the States came from???? Europe and Africa and Asia. Hmmmmm... Surprisingly this "virus" appears to be linked to eating too much processed food and not getting enough exercise. And it seems to be centred in a geographic location where processed food is king and even basic exercise is shunned in favour of automotive transport.
I entirely agree! It should upgrade to Firefox 9 straight away. Not only will Firefox catch up, but surpass IE in one cunning stroke. How good are you now IE, eh, EH?
A couple of things about electronic paper. The displays are too slow to be used for anything other than static display of information at this time.
Hey last time I checked, paper IS a static display of information, so guess what, to replace paper paper with ELECTRONIC paper it wouldn't need to refresh quickly!
Obvious usage examples...
Thanks for pointing out the obvious!
By the looks of the photo in the article, the curvature is nowhere near good enough
Curvature isn't really that important for many examples. Imagine instead of bringing your couple of cm's thick Paperback book, you could instead bring it as an electronic sheet. Same height and width, but only a couple of millimeters thick!
It would be nice if your e-sheet® book could roll into something tiny, but I'd still be happy with an e-sheet with the same frontal area as a paperback book.
Or Maybe it shows just how popular Opera really is!In fact its IE that only has 2 percent of the market but they're hiding behind the giant that is Opera and praying that Opera don't change their default UA string.
After nearly five years of development, NeoOffice/J has made it to its first stable release. NeoOffice/J 1.1 is a Mac OS X-integrated office suite based on OpenOffice.org 1.1.4
I didn't realise openoffice 1.1.4 had been out for 5 years!
The rub is that member states are obliged by EU contract to adjust their laws to the content of EU directives.
This implies a transfer of legislative powers to the government-controlled EU Council directives.
Who do you think the EU council is? Its the governments of the democratically elected member states! ELECTED!!
EU directives are adopted by either the EU council or by the EU parliament, both of which have been directly elected by the citizens of the Member States. Please find out how the EU works before making idiotic comments.
An acceptable way of fixing this would be to give more power to the EU parliament.
This is called a Federal Europe, which is exactly what Europeans don't want.

Israel was proclaimed an idependent state by Israel May 14th 1948.
The United States was proclaimed an independent state by the United States on July 4, 1776. Does that mean we don't exist, either?
Yes.
